  1. I'm not convinced the extra money for shipping helps at all. I did order a reel from Japan earlier this year. Received an email on Thursday that it shipped and received the reel on Saturday. That was standard shipping. I was amazed. In country shipping usually takes about 5 days.
  2. Al,they look great. As you already know. I too caught a Studfish, years ago on the upper Huzzah around Dillard.
  3. There are so many good reels in the price range you have. If you like Lews they have several in that price range. Shimano has many starting with the Curado, which is on sale in some places. Revos are on sale many places and offer several in your price range. Daiwa's Tatula fits as does the Tatula CT. Really for most it just comes down to brand loyalty and possibly a preference for one braking system over another. Both Daiwa and Abu have premiums with purchase right now. Pfluegers are fine reels that don't get the press of some others.
  4. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I have no advise but if no one chimes in here you might try the Bull Shoals or Table Rock section and see what you get there.
  5. Looks like your gut was right.
  6. Paul, we have traps normally. Don't know if we have any right now and do not work on Wednesdays.
  7. Creek Wader, offer still stands, but if I wanted a one day float/wade I would probably contact Brain Sloss at Eleven Point Canoe rental and see if he would put me in at Thomasville and float to Cane Bluff. Depending on water conditions you maybe wading alot. It is nine miles and chances are you will not see anyone. If you have the time float all the way to Greer. It will take more than a day but in that stretch you will start on a creek and end up on a good sized river. One of my favorites.
  8. Well guys it looks like everything is going well. The website is great. It is nice that the video is there for the people that were not able to make the meeting. All I need is some time to get out and fish with your product. Seriously, wishing you all the best, could not be happier for you guys. Tim
  9. So glad that many of the guys were able to attend the meeting last night. I wish I had made the time visit with all the new faces and figure out who went with what name on here. It is always encouraging to see so many people passionate about fishing in general and river fishing even more so.
  10. Great vintage stuff. Thank you for posting.
  11. I should also have added that I think Basspro has some short pistol grip rods. River fishing guys really like short rods and it is getting harder and harder to find "Quality" short casting rods. There seems to always be some short lower end rods for guys that fish push button reels.
  12. St. Croix still makes a 5'6" pistol grip casting rod in their Premier series, around $140.
  13. Great trees Mitch. Those winter time fish often have spectacular color. Judging from your art work Al probably does not need to worry about you displacing him.
  14. Wish I had some wisdom to pass on. My limited winter fishing experiences have not been very successful. What I have learned is to be very careful and always carry an extra set of dry clothes with you, not in the car but with you. Also wear your PFD. The dry clothes part comes from personal experience.
  15. I guess you can please some of the people some of the time, and some none of the time. As I read the article I thought it said "currently" no facilities. It seems that we complained when they opened Echo Bluff that it went too far. I do not care what they name it, as previously stated that is just politics and it seems we have a Conservation area named for everyone who was ever on the Conservation Commission. In any case as long as DNR is buying from willing sellers and not using condemnation to acquire land. As long as the remediation from the lead mining is not shorted I am all for it.
  16. Trophy, love the paint booth and the work you do.
  17. Mitch, Don't you sleep?
  18. Norm Good to hear you are back out. Keep at it.

I"m sure you can catch 'em anyway. Merry Christmas to you and yours Aaron.
  20. For all the complaints about Echo Bluff there are always some people that want that type of park. The fact that I don't doesn't mean it is a bad thing. DNR has to play for all the people not just the people on OA. If I never visit Echo Bluff but it is packed all the time they were successful.
  21. I can not claim any experience, I know they fish them in some of the eastern lakes that have a population of blue back herring. I bought a couple thinking they might be an option at times. I will be interested in other peoples experience.
  22. First off the reels I mention are all at or under the $100 MSRP and may be found cheaper. Daiwa Fuego as mentioned by others. I have a prior model and it is great. Daiwa BG right at $100 but really solid reel. Plueger President,. This has been the number one selling spinning reel in the country the last few years and well under $100. Plueger Arbor and Spreme both solid from what I hear. Shimano NASCI and Sahara, I think with a little looking you can find one or both heavily discounted. Really for $50 to $100 there are alot of good spinning reels by many makers.
  23. Hope this is new to some. Shortly after President Bush took office, an old man approached the White House from the park across Pennsylvania Ave where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the U. S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Clinton." The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Clinton is no longer president and no longer resides here." The old man said, "Okay," and walked away. The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Clinton." The Marine again told the man, "Sir, Mr. Clinton is no longer president and no longer resides here." The man thanked him and, again, just walked away. The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to thevery same U. S. Marine, saying "I would like to go in and meet withPresident Clinton." The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Clinton; "I've told you already that Mr. Clinton is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't you understand?" The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it." The Marine snapped to attention, saluted and said, "See you tomorrow,Sir!"
