Which is why I said I would like to see a rule where you had to release everything from the 2nd week of April until the 2nd week of May...won't get all of the spawn but will get a few weeks. Also, there is a difference between catching some of the bed and putting them in the box to either go in the frying pan or go for a 40 mile boat ride.

I feel exactly the same way and it is just a strange deal that this is a sight fishing tournament anyway. Someday I would like to see a state wide catch-n-release from the 2nd week of April until the 2nd week of May but that probably won't happen. Kyle Welcher who had 19lbs yesterday brought in a 24lb sack today

I just get up and parrallel the bank looking for beds as I fire way out in front. If I get on top of one that is worth catching I will just turn around and try to catch him. The key is to find the right ones and I usually have to cover a lot of water to find the those unless you found some prefishing that you already have way points for. I used to always focus on the shorter pockets so I wouldn't have to trolling motor long stretches looking...I would hit 20-30 in a day looking for 5-6 good ones.

I move pretty quick (but I always do) and like a lot of those guys on tape I use flukes, floating worms or swimbaits as search baits because if the fish rises on those you can usually bet there is a bed around...plus sometimes you just catch them. Sight fishing is like the A-Rig to me...I will only do it if money is on the line so I don't have to worry about messing with either anymore.

Glad I went fishing down in Louisiana for a few days Hopefully it picks back up later this week when I recover

I know year before last I saw a ton of those 4-6in bass at Bull...groups of 25+ just swimming around and chasing my bait in every cove. I couldn't believe how many little bass I saw and I told my buddy the lake was going to be unbelievable in a few years. Off topic story but the one of the strangest things I have ever seen on Table Rock. I was fishing in the Fall several years ago throwing a wart when I hooked up with a fish. He was fighting strange and I wasn't really sure what I had when all of a sudden this huge dark mass came up...I am not kidding when I say there were somewhere around 50 2.5 to 3.5lb smallmouth all grouped up around the one I had on the wart. Craziest thing I ever seen and after I got him in I fired back in for 15 minutes and didn't catch another. I have caught plenty of schoolers but this was a big black ball of bass all rising to the top together.

I had a really good day Saturday on a jerkbait with 10-12 keepers and probably around 19lb sack...BUT I probably caught 50 10-12in spots and smallmouth. And then probably caught 30 on Sunday. That class is good and you are right about the high water spawns. Bull Shoals is stupid good right now.
-
On stage they said they caught all 5 smallmouth out of the same tree in like 10 cast with a grub...pretty good tree There was an Easter Seals back around that time that had a huge bag of fish but they were 8 fish limits...think it was something like 42-43lbs may have been Taylor and Fann. Sorry for the walk down memory lane

Great bags of fish! Makes me glad I don't fish tournaments anymore so I don't have to throw the umbrella with hooks...that thing can catch the heck out of fish though. I remember a Heartland several years ago where Rick Holmgren brought in 5 that weighed 28lbs...his big fish was 7lbs. Another bag from the memory bank was in the CP tournament where some guys caught 6 that weighed 29lbs and 5 of their 6 were smallmouth. These bags are awesome and great to see the Rock shine.

Or he didn't want everyone to think he caught his bag on the A-rig like everyone else and just said he upgraded on a football jig...just saying

Arkansas Does Not Have A New State Record Bass
Tfsh4bass replied to Stump bumper's topic in Table Rock Lake
I purchase my Ark license online every year and receive email reminders when it is due. I actually worked my Ark license to the end of Feb so I just get both the same week every year now. -
It is one of my favorite color combos...around sunrise or set and cloudy days I always have it one

Indian Point area but fishing main lake gravel pockets with docks...usually focus on the ones that bend back north but with the sound wind and no sun the water was pretty much the same temp everywhere. I was hunting smallmouth in the shallow pea gravel pockets and caught 5 but found a few good blacks were hanging around also.
-
I had a couple buddies crappie fished up there Sun and said it was 52-53
-
I threw a swimbait and blade in pockets but didn't have any takers...got bumped twice on a blade. I caught everything on a black/gold/orange jerkbait which is my favorite color on cloudy days on Trock or Bull. Water was 49.7 to 51.2 everywhere I fished.

One of the biggest bass I have ever seen a picture of from this area was caught by a friend in Taneycomo...11lb 4oz and it looked every bit of it. Caught on a senko around a dock in April. My buddy said he had another one on that was just a little smaller from the same dock a few cast later. Of course I have never caught one over 5lbs there but I only fish it 2-3 times per year.

Fish usually move up in waves and there always seems to be a few crazy ones that move shallow when the water is right around 50. I fish shallow most of the time anyway but the number of bites changes depending on conditions and time of year. I fished from 1pm to 6pm yesterday around Indian and ripped a jerkbait in shallow (kept the boat in 14ish) pea gravel pockets around docks...caught 9 with 7 being keepers and had 2 blacks around 4.
-
Original natural green craw with the orange bill (yes I have 6 of those bad boys) and they just knocked slack in it which made me think it was more about just getting around some. Most of the fish I caught looked like they had just moved up. Looking back on the day I would have been better off just fishing inside/outside points with the wart and covering more water which I did from 2-4...stuck with the jerkbait fish too long. I caught 3 jerkbait fish the first 2 banks I fished then didn't get a bite on it the rest of the day.
-
Glad you caught them Bill because I struggled myself today only catching 7 from 9am to 4pm around the Indian Point area...did have a 4+ brownie though and a couple other good blacks but not many bites. 4 on wart and 3 on jerkbait mix rock just inside points with wind...lost 2 others on a wart.

First touched down around Joe Bald Road in Kimberling City and then tore a path east ending about two miles east of Kissee Mills per The News Leader

Arkansas State Record Bass Caaught Tuesday 16Lbs5Oz
Tfsh4bass replied to Sore Thumbs's topic in Table Rock Lake
Those little lakes are supposed to have some big ones...really thought the next record would come from Millwood -
I had a decent day Sunday and caught everything in less than 15 feet on a jerkbait in pockets. With the weather there will be more up so you will be fine.

I fished Indian Point area yesterday from 10 to 4 and I had to work for them. Caught 11 with 8 solid keepers all on jerkbait fishing creek pockets with chunk rock and timber mix. I have banned the A-Rig in my boat so I am sure they were killing that thing all day. Still not a bad day but I had to fish a lot of pockets to catch what I did...just one here and one there kind of deal but they slammed it when you got around them.
