  1. A dock by the ramp I use got hit 2 or 3 nights ago. They took over 20 batteries off of the boats. Didnt bother anything else. I find that odd.But then again they are lowlifes doing it.
  2. Bill is right . For me its about a 1 in 4 ratio out of the box that works well. And you cant do anything to the crummy ones to make em run better.
  3. Might have been a differant outcome if he had 8 pound maxi on. That was a little light though. Glad the jig bite is getting better, I will be there Thurs night and give it a whirl Friday.

  5. I will let you guys make your own captions.
  6. Thats a dandy ! Those rubber nets dont help with the self net thing. There kinda heavy, but sure are nice not getting hooks tangled up in them.
  7. Fished almost everyday last week and would rate the fishing fair to good. Just couldnt seem to pattern fish. One day deep, the next right off the banks. Had some consitant schoolers every morning that it didnt rain. The A rig will still produce if you have wind and are fishing shallow, but on calm day better go to steeper banks with some timber to get a bite. Better be thinking smaller baits around spawning banks and put the rig down. Sure there are the giant bags coming in, but its the same ole story, right place right time.Alot of fronts and rain to contend with last week so maybe it will calm down this week and the fish will be more consitant. I didnt look for nests much, but never saw any. Maybe the rising water and the tea colroed water covered them up, or maybe they just werent there. All the fish I caught were just starting to belly up so I feel rumors of already spawned fish are greatly exagerated. Lenght of daylight play an important part as to when the fish go to the beds, along with the water temp. All in all not to bad a week.
  8. The bigger one was 21 inches.
  9. I know many have had doubles on the A rig. Bill"s name is Bill double Babler. But this was my first. The big smallie was 5.4 on my scales. The little guy was 16 inches. Quite a handful. Slipped and fell going for the net in the back of the boat, then hit the spool release and away the went. They stayed on and got em in. 4 or 5 casts later had my second double a 4 pound black and a short spot. Had 20 or so pounds with my best 5. Only caught 9 or 10 all day in the rain. Water temp was 56 up around the dam with it being 61 in the backs of the creeks. Did I mention it rained? Geez.
  10. Good Stuff !
  11. How much were they at Acadamy?
  12. How many access points does the MDC provide on Shoal ? Maybe a conservation agent needs to make the float too? Its his job to protect the fisherman/floater. Judge Dally in Jasper county ruled against my son in the Jenkins creek thing. Dally used to be a big time floater with my Step Dad, thats why I was shocked at his rulling. 13. Be very careful about rod placement on your boat deck, taking notice not to have a bunch laying on the deck behind you or sticking up. That chandelier of a fishing mess can easily hang or grab them on your back cast. Also when throwing this do not overload the rod, or you will snap off the tip or break the rod high in the tip section. Don't care if you are using a tree branch for a fishing stick, with all the force this puts on the rod to fling it you better be careful. Theres a story in that paragraph! Sorry about the key thing, had that happen to me at Tanycomo a few years ago. Had to interupt someones shopping . The keys were laying in the seat and was sitting on the tailgate putting on waders when I heard the doors lock. How did that happen ! Its never happened again but I always keep the window down now why I am getting stuff ready.
  14. Hes right. In the Gulf if you see a piece of plywood floating you better go fish it.
  15. Guess I am behind the times. My son Jason was at capps yesterday and said the have a $5. user fee now. Have mixed emotions about that.
  16. Look at Bill's post from Dec. 6th or 7th.
  17. Buds Bait Carthage Mo. Bud died several years ago, but his wife still runs it. I know its been there over 40 years.
  18. Proponents of E-15 say it's fine for marine engines and are pushing hard to make it the new standard for regular unleaded. The truth is, it's a violation of federal law to use E-15 in marine engines.
  19. E15 gasoline Blowing up Engines - Who'da Thunk It Put a little grease on 'er she'll be fine As we posted a month (What to do about Ethanol) or so ago the EPA is bound and determined to push more corn based ethanol into gasoline across the US.filter and fuel additives and by all means avoid E-15
  20. And we don't need any comments from the peanut gallery, Denny and Bill. You wont hear any wisecracks from me since you have conquered a bad habit and I havent ! Wish I didnt have anything to do while waiting between twitches !
  21. I caught hundreds of them this summer. The moonshine whites never appeared like years past, they just went elsewhere I guess. There not all dead, there just lurking somewhere waiting to maruade again.
  22. Bill, maybe you should rig your A rig up with float and flies ! Use a big ole catfish bobber to hold it up. Good report, sounds like there are some fish to be caught even if there are smaller.
  23. Yep, or fish in Arkansas with 5
  24. The Alabama rig is not legal in Missouri . Just saying. Number of Hooks per Rod: Not more than 3 hooks per Pole and Line. Multiple hooks holding a single bait (“Stinger” hooks) are considered a single hook. Refer to definition of “Pole and Line” and “Hook.” 3 CSR 10-20 Definitions
