  1. Had a monster redfish on in the gulf over 40 inches. They fight like the dickens but when they give it up you reel em in like a log. He had given up and 20 ft from the boat he made another huge run and held on with all I had. All of a sudden Wham line broke, fish got off somthing. Reeled up and his head was all I had. That shark had bit it off right behind the head as clean as if you had used a meat clever. Kinda creepy when your bobbing around in an 18 ft bass boat.
  2. I am suprised at the low turnout. Maybe it being the Easter weekend?? See ya this coming week.
  3. Maybe I am going blind, I sure thought they were crappie but guess not. I havent been doing any good in Little Indian been running out of there. I saw some chasers back there the other morning, but think they were whites.
  4. Bill, I will be down there most of next week. I will take you out and show you the grub bite, and you can show me the stickbait bite. I will be hunting the crappie too as I prefish for the 19th.
  5. I noticed about 3 weeks ago they were working on the docks at Joe Bald. couldnt tell if they were putting in new ones or taking out the old ones. Thought it strange since that parki s closed. Also Mill creek ramp is a mess, you can break an axel in those holes. they are working on the rest of the park just not the ramp area. If they are going to charge they ought to be usable.
  6. Its my backyard too. I stay at the castle RV Park. Those old guys I think clean there fish on the dock at the cleaning station on the end. Let me know if you here anything. I will do the same.
  7. Put in at the back of north little indian this morning. By the ramp in the water and on the bank were 20-30 big slab filleted crappie. I would like to know the were and whats on them , I cant get a crappie bite. Did have a good day on bass though. Had a black over 5lbs, and one of those big headed fish that shoulda weighed 6 but only around weighed 3 1/2 - 4. He was pretty beat up and old looking. lots of 14-17 inch spots all still on the grub.
  8. He has lost all that weight cause he has to fix breakfast for guests before he goes fishing, and when he returns he has to clean the lodge from stem to stern! He has lost a bunch, good job Bill.
  9. Anybody tried trilene maxx? I spooled some up on a baitcaster yesterday. Seems like it might have some memory, but will wait and see. Just wondering if anybody has used it and what they thought.
  10. Snow melted off the tarp today so decieded to clean out the boat. Took out 2 rods out of the rod box, down to 7 now. Tackle comparments , I managed to throw away 1 lunch sack about half full with worthless rusted stuff. Had a bunch of stuff I filed in my: wont use it again but too good to throw away bucket! Hard to part with old friends but sometimes they gotta go.
  11. Everybody is telling me swimming a grub is the way to catch-em, but we still have not gotten that bite figured out. Started swimming it on flat gravel and did catch one fantastic 19 inch K right off the bat, and then it went cold. Bill, my bite is crawl the grub not swim it. I think focused fishings desciption was scrub the grub. Sounds like you had a great day wish I could hae been there. I wil be down next week when the sky is high and the bite is tough. Hope I am wrong.
  12. I could put you on some fish about 60 miles east of there in Mobile Bay. Early June things are just starting, snapper you still have to out 20-40 miles. Sea trout and red drum are starting to move into the bay as the shrimp have just hatched in the estuary and everything follows them. Floating debris, foam , plywood ect are excellant haunts for dolphin (mahi, mahi). There is no structure, coral, in the gulf except man made, old tanks, concrete, gas and oil rigs. If you take your own boat still hire a guide and find places that have landmarks so you can find them again. Most guides and charters do not allow compass or GPS on board. They work hard at creating structure and are very gaurded about there locations. Cut bait for sanpper and grouper, live bait such as 6-8 inch croakers drug on bottom for red drum and yikes sharks. Smaller guide boats that only carry 2-3 people are best as you can learn more than the 70 footers that take out 25-35 at a time. Be prepared also if you get sea sick, they wont bring you back unless you are the sole charter. Have to stick it out untill they come in. I know I didnt answer your question, but thats the stuff you need to look for.
  13. If anyone would have it: Frankies marine, no. 10 bridge on Grand Lake
  14. I thought it would be fun to give the nicknames of our secret, favorite spot. No need to tell where they are, unless you want to. Might get interesting with some of the names. On of mine: Never fail bank
  15. Phil, we can leave Bill at home and head to long creek in the near future and catch some 12-18 inch slabs! Nothing better than crappie and eggs for breakfast.
  16. Bill, sounds like you had a decent day. My Sat. was"nt very good, Had 4 fish all smallies and only 1 keeper. Today was a differant story lots and lots of short ky and smallies. Had around 4 that would have kept but total around 20-25 fish. Same banks I have been fishing, but found the bite a little deeper than last week. Around 10-15 ft was where I got bit. Last week it was 3-5 ft.
  17. Welcome, I lived south of the cities in the mid 70's to early 80's. lived in Kenyon around 12 miles east of Fairbuilt. You will love it down here, walleye fishing is better here unless you would go way North to boundry waters, lake of the woods ect.
  18. You both suck! I have to work until Friday. Maybe I can sneak off Thurs. Nice white.
  19. Best I can figure out its the Piney creek wilderness area. Never been back that far to see a sign that prohibits motors on boats. The guy said he saw the sign but doesn't read English that well.
  20. Where did the little Japanese fellow go that went into an area that was posted no outboard motors? He was disqualified over it.
  21. I fished local in a BASS on Grand. In the weigh in cove Guido floated up next to me and dug threw his livewell and threw a 15 in fish back in the water. It was the only one he had. He told me it wasnt worth going up in front of Ray Scott and taking a ribbing and having Scott trying to drag a story out of him.
