What is the Highest Surface Temp ever on the Rock
Bill Babler replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Bo nailed it. Us deep water Lookie Lou's can tell a bad transducer just about as quick as we can tell if you forgot to put the sugar in the lemonade. It is simply amazing the difference you can see with a new one. I personally never let mine ripen over about a year. I don't think Beck waits that long. His is always bright and shoots a perfect pic. -
Just a quick report on the upper White River from this Morning. We splashed in at 5:15 and fished till 1 PM Long day in the 95 degree heat but for some reason the lake had cooled down considerably over night. 84 at Viney, to a high at Campbell Point of 88 We fished from Big M to Campbell Point and I had a very lucky day, catching fish on most all my guested at locations. We had zero top water fish and to tell the truth I can pretty much go out with only 2 baits in the boat. One being the 3/4 oz. Dixie Jet in chrome and the other being a War Eagle Slab 1/2 oz. in White or Chrome Depending on the area, the fish were ranging from 25 to 40 feet both on the bottom and suspended. The further up the White you go the shallower the bite. Here is just a super picture of the Thermocline. Just like the James it is very hard at about 15' Enjoy

Take another quick look at Bo's post, he answered every question you just asked. Got to read this stuff very through and you will be surprised the amount of not only locations, but methods you will find. Good Luck

What is the Highest Surface Temp ever on the Rock

That is warm as toast. I was there day before and it was upper 80's so I believe it. Just talked to my client for tomorrow he just pulled out at Schooner and it was 92. at the ramp. -
From what has been reported today and there was a total plethora of guide trips from BC to Baxter you were the winner by far. I'm coming up to help you in the morning. I bet there will be a lot of help the rest of the week with the BLF League in town.

What is the Highest Surface Temp ever on the Rock

It's there where you are fishing, but way shallower than you are thinking. Look for it starting at the 15' range, really similar to what they are finding up the James. I can see it with the graph set at 70%, and can knock it out at anything less. I have a new transducer that is hot as a fire cracker. It is not real hard but is visible from 15' to 22' and very easy to see. Also let me point out here that the White River arm above Twin Rivers fishes very different than the majority of Table Rock Lake. It fishes much more river like. The fish up the White especially when you get above Viney will stay much shallower and will acclimate to the warmer temperatures. There are different games at play up there with the water release from Beaver providing a much cooler water movement from the dam it will not only help with O2, but keeps that water cooler higher in the water column. I'm up there tomorrow and will let you know in as much detail as I can muster what I find. -

Seems like I read somewhere that bass get very stressed with DO at 5 parts per million or less. If current reading up the James are at 1 percent at certain levels that is not good. In the last week, this lake has pushed up between 8 and 12 degree surface temps in some locations. Wonder what the DO is today? -

Not even Apples to Oranges different. White River fish are depth fish, layered water is how they live, they move from season to season to depth. Probably not a lot of folks catching them in 60 plus foot of water today on the Red. Lots of guys catching them that deep on the Rock today including Smallmouth. That was Monday, and its 100 here today with projections in the mid-90's rest of the week. I have a call into Shane Bush, he is our Biologist. Hope he gets back to me and I will relay all the info. -

I don't do facebook either, but I think there is a very real worry. Beck brought it to my attention this morning. -
Guys that are just now coming off the lake from Big Cedar to Kimberling City are reporting surface temps main lake to be at 91 to 93 degree. Have heard from 1/2 dozen guys in the last hour and that is just about as warm as I can ever remember. We are only June 22nd second day of Summer. There was some real worry the last week about surface O2 as it has been White Hot with absolute no breeze. The wind is blowing today that will create wave action to help with the Oxygen, but the heat is crazy. I postponed my today trip as I was open tomorrow. They are calling for 94 degree tomorrow with rain and wind. Should be a better day. Temp right now at the lodge is 98 and a furnace type wind. Beck said the fish he had been catching simply vanished. He has been fishing pretty deep at 35'. Yesterday he had 40 with a bunch of really nice keeps. Today he said it was a complete grind. Only fish he had were suspended over deep trees, and I mean deep, deep, deep. Everything he caught was over 45'

Great photo's Ab's thanks a bunch. It seems like the long green pincher Craws come more from the open water and the shorter brown ones come from the clear creek arms. Up the Kings River, Roaring River, Flat Creek ect, Seems to hold the Orange Creek Craws. I will tell you they will simply pinch the "pudden" out of you if you get your pinky in the wrong place.

Don't know that you can beat the War Eagle slabs or the Cabalas Real Image for that matter.

If I remember and I believe it has been at least 10 to 15 yrs. ago, Bobby Tindle had a series of deep cranking articles in BassMaster, concerning Table Rock. The majority of the guys that were deep crankers have switched to swimbaits. They get down to the proper depth quick and look about as lifelike as the bait itself. They don't trigger the reaction strike of the wobble of the crankers, but they are easier to fish, and most time a lot less expensive to lose. At times, now thru mid-July, you can catch large numbers of Spotted Bass on live bait, as entire lake sections will school of certain structure. It is a time, post spawn that we need to be very careful with the resource. It seems when you are catching them that the lake has an endless supply, but try and find another location in the near area that is exactly the same and it will be completely devoid of fish. It is at this time that the biologist say to be very careful with the amount you harvest as you have really got them in a barrel. Mid-July they will disperse and not be in such a gang, you can go onto similar type locations and catch a few here and a few there. Currently they are really ganging on deep locations, so tread lightly with them, especially those really nice K's.

Thumbs, I know they carry the full line at Rock Creek in Harrison, but you can order anything you want a www.basswishes.com

The traditional Dixie Jet was a Flutter Spoon, but Tom Murphy the current owner has expanded the line and has been making a Jigging Spoon in a multitude of colors including pink, under the Dixie Jet flag for about 10 yrs. now. You can see the entire line at Sportsmans Outfitters in Springfield.

Almost all the flutter spoon fish we are catching are spitting both shad and craws. I will kind of defer this to Bo and Champ, but a lot of the old timers including Bill Anderson, Dan Langley, Rick Holmgran, and Kelly Powers tell me the deep trees at times will be covered with craws. I know that I have scuba diving friends that have seen crawfish deeper than 50' and Anderson who was our lake biologist has seen craws clinging to deep trees, on the trunk and also the limbs during diving. This choice crustacean was hacked up day before yesterday by a bass that was chasing shad in 90' of water over some deep trees. I captured the bass on a Dixie Jet and out came the craw to hit the deck. I really now only use three different kinds of craws, my favorite is the Yamamoto Fat Baby Craw and I use it on lite stuff like 3/8th and less. I also like the Chompers Craw that is very small that I pitch docks with. It is not pictured. My best Fall craw is now the Nicholes Craw, it is a big 5 incher and the Jaw's on the White River just love it.

2015 Motorguide Digital Tour 109 for Sale
Bill Babler replied to Bill Babler's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Thanks guys, sold the motor. The X5 is very small and lite. It is also very solid, but I have only had it less than a week. I'll write a report on it in a month or so after I have put it thru its paces. -
Bill has been fishing the KC to Baxter run and he said there was some pretty big chases down that-a-way this AM. Said most of them were very large schools and were chasing mid-channel and not staying up long. In that area it does not take long to get them beat down with wake boarders as these folks are out easy by 5:45 or 6. He has caught 2 Strippers the last two days, schooling with the whites. Both were between 20 and 30 inches. Very Interesting

White River Outfitters Table Rock Lake Fishing Report 6-18-16 Some days you catch them some days you don't and some days, "Well, We Clobbered Them." Fishing with good Buddy and Client Ed Shawbaker we had one of those "Good Ole Goodins" Hit the ramp at Viola to surface temps of 87.6 at 5:20 this morn, with pink light just starting to crest the Eastern ridges. Was afraid to launch at the SK ramp as I thought they might have a Sat. derby and it was not long till that was confirmed. Bout 5:45 we started to get buzzed and not in a bad way at all, just boys going fishing and enjoying the beautiful morning. I kind of rolled the dice this morning and it came up 7's for us. Most often I get a nice spin of snake eyes, but this morning it was all winners. Started at the mouth of the Kings over deep trees with the Pooper and the Dixie Jet and snared a couple of younkers and a white or three and proceeded to end hop my way up the White. I had in mind a local hangout called Wood Duck that is a very long Bluffend Runnout with a heavy timbered pocket at the end extending into a very fishy looking major cove. I had waited a bit to come up here as I have just been working a bunch over at the mouth of the river. Had a notion that most would pass this by, especially cause the trees are deep here, with tops in the 30' range. As soon as the Big Phoenix slid to a halt, we just looked at each other and said "Oh YA." Fish were breaking, not a bunch, but enough to know we had chosen wisely. These were not K's, they were largies and very nice ones. Used the Jet again and the Monkey Butted Pooper's and it was game on. Couple of doubles on 3 pounders and many, many singles and missed fish in the 2 hours we spent playing pitch and catch with the Micropterus saloides of the Humongous Clan. I could not have shared this morning with a better friend, we just had a ball with misses and catches of epic proportion. Biggest at over 4 pounds, but the above photo is of Ed, with a pretty much average size fish for this AM. Not posting numbers, but we caught enough to keep me there for 2 hrs. and those of you that know me realize that I usually fish at least a dozen location in that amount of time. It was a Peach. Good Luck

Beck told me yesterday he was seeing some clutter at 22' and thought it might be starting there around Kimberling. Turn your graph was up and see if you can see it building. I'm out of there tomorrow and I'll also take a peek, it should be there. He said Surface water when it got off yesterday was 85 degree.

That is not right Dude and you know it. For the record, Ab's takes pretty good care of himself. That was funny, but it Ain't you. Shell Knob is one of the absolute worst for loud music and totally out of control wake boats. Had a issue up there last week It was the same deal and they waked between me and the bank where we were casting with their boat in less that 5' of water. They were blaring the loudest Country Music crud I have ever heard. This was at 6:30 in the morning. Kids across America is on that point Pepe and I am sure everyone of them not only hears that music, but plays it on a continuing basis. The lyrics of some of the modern rap and crossover stuff is simply frightening. If a white person voiced any of those types of lyrics, you would find yourself in the poky in about the drop of a dime. Strange times we live in.

Thanks guys, appreciate all.
