Kim City- March 27 - Water clarity & deep bite
Bill Babler replied to Dock-in-it's topic in Table Rock Lake
I was in the same location yesterday and there was a boat on everything. Both Perkins Hollow and both sides of Wolf pen had multiple boats by 8 am. I only had 3 fish in 5 hours. They were the right kind, just not enough of them. You might guess how I caught them. 🤪🤪🤪😀😀 -
I fished about the same area this morning. Warmest water I found was 51.8. Similar results with the fish being a bit deeper for me. Around 20 ft. Stain will vanish from the White quick with water being pulled and cold nights it settles fast. It was clear today in front of Carter.
-
Friends fished the White from SK to Cedar. Clear and very hard today. They had 14 pounds yesterday at KC. 1 keeper today on the White

Shriner derby out of Kimberling City today. They just flat hammered them. 8.13 was big bass. Best string 5 fish just under 25 pounds. Buddy had close to 14 pounds and never sniffed a check. I think he said 82 boats. They fished a while longer after weigh-in and had a 5 plus and 6 other keeps. Bite was late. All on a swimbait. Tried the murky water and it was dead. Best bite is from Baxter to the Branson Belle in clear water to suspended staging fish. By mid week those fish will be in that off color stuff shallow. The 8 pounder was not in the winning bag. Guy’s that weighed it only had 1 fish.

One reel per trade for one reel you want. You can trade multiple reels. I bought 5 so I traded 5. Shimano is included as is Daiwa. First time in 15 years. Read my initial post closely. This and the reasoning is from BP corporate in Spfg. I purchased the Tatula SV Elite. $249.99. I got $50.00 per each real purchased and each reel traded in. $250.00 off 5 reels. The way it worked I bought 4 and got one free. The five I traded in worked fine but had no monetary value. Can’t make it simpler.

Gabe, in Spfg. You drop your reel or reels in a tub at the information booth. They give you a certificate and based on ANY BRAND of reel you purchase the appropriate amount of discount is deducted at the checkout. In Springfield I was told by a store manager and on the phone also told, THIS YEAR all brands were included and gave the reasoning in my initial post. Im assuming you’re at the store in Broken Arrow. If they are not giving the same as the flagship store I’m going back on the disappointed list.

You get out of Lowrents and a bit SW in Kansas you find Zero to very few kU fans. That’s Kstate country. Some of the best people on earth. Our Heartland and the agricultural bread basket of the US.

Well, I’ve cried so much lately about these glide baits cost. Just got back from SK. one of my best clients and longtime dear friend gave me this one. Tried to give him something for it but he wouldn’t take it. KGB Chad Shad slow sink 7”. Looks totally like a Gizzard Shad. Unreal. Many ,many thanks Don.

Our house at SK is up to 3.1 now after that last deluge. Seems to be slacking off a bit now.
-
SK Is the same as Dutch reported about 2.5 from last nite at 8pm. It’s just pouring here now however.

Well, this is the program that perhaps got me at the time almost 20 years ago down on BP. Won’t go into the details but it was a huge Bait and Switch. This year for the 1st. time in 15 years Shimano and Daiwa products are included. I spoke with a representative named Chelsie on the phone. What a wonderful person. She told me BP has never had a program shrouded with more positives and more clouds of improprieties. To change that this year neither Daiwa or Shimano is giving the discounts, but BP is giving them on the Shimano and Daiwa products to make the field even with no thoughts of these problems. Every Shimano/Daiwa that you buy on the program, BP is losing money as they will not be compensated by either company. They of course know you will make other purchases while in the store and were just totally tired of the negative feed back Chelsie, absolutely guaranteed me I could get a smooth trade, no hassle. About 10 years ago, for only 1 year Falcon came out with a couple of spinning reels. Their small one was called a Moxie. They sold retail for $65.00. Phil sold 15 in his shop that I got him. I have 10 or so and use them for crappie. I took 5 of them up to BP in their original box that worked perfectly. I had used them maybe 100 times each. I always keep the box. They were in great shape, but used. Trade-in was smooth as silk except “Of Course, they had only one Tatula SV Elite.” This time rather than trying to sell me a Johnny Morris reel the young man at the counter said we will get on the computer and deliver them right to you within 3 days with no charge and your discounts applied. WHAT😀😀😀😀. My Gosh, how times have changed. To say I was impressed is a total understatement. I was helped immediately and professionally and I truly appreciated it. Don’t hesitate to use this program and update THIS YEAR. Good Luck

Don’t know if you noticed but on Douglas Lake in Tennessee during this MLF event this week, Jonathan Vandam caught them really good on a blade bait. First time I had seen it used in a national tournament. He would make a long cast and let it settle on the bottom, then he would short pump it back to the boat letting it completely settle to the bottom before each rod pump. He said they were either picking it off the bottom or catching it as it fell from the pump. You would NEVER feel them strike or bite it, they would just be there when you repeated the pump. Said it was a cold water Northern technique, that fishes well in cold clear water with Shad It was a great segment. Is this how your fishing it? I have several and have caught a ton of white bass on them but that’s about it. Thanks for the great post and info.

Differences are very small in the baits. I think the fin fishes better shallow and around trees and the Surge may pull them a little better in deep water without structure. Im probably full of Horse Pucky on that but you can run the S. Shad a bit faster with more noise and movement. I looked at the Berkeley site and they just had Blue ones left. Don’t know why I looked, I must have 20 of them and 3 times that many fins. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Jig sizes and types vary. I’ve used many different ones including some custom made by the late Turner Jones Depending on Shad size the best is probably the Spro Phat Fly in 1/16th. As far as depth or leader length, a lot of this depends in rod length. I have tried and tried and tried to make a slip float work and just cannot get it to work, so I have one rod that is 12’ another that is 14’. When both pre and post spawn fish are staging suspended in the 15’ to 25’ range a leader of 15’ of 4pound carbon line is perfect. I never go bigger than the 1/16th. oz fly and at times I will fish 1/32ed. and 1/64th. If you try to use heaver line the bait looks like it’s on a well rope. 4 lb. Seems to be perfect with the correct fall rate and with the big rods and a high quality reel with top flight drag you can catch enormous fish on the 4 lb. I’ve had one double digit on TR and it came on the floater. Beck had one and a young client also had one. Big fish will not only eat a 10 oz. Glide Bait but also a 1/64th. oz. Fly.

Boys Caught Them Again in the Dirty Water

Had a couple of hours so I sneaked out at 1pm yesterday and fished to 5pm. Tried the dirty stuff from SK to Viola, caught one keeper on a blade and 3 shorts on a wart. Water is really clearing, even in the stained there is 3 plus feet of visibility. Threw a 1/2 oz.Jig with a 4” craw trailer and had 1 more short. Decided to run up the White a ways and pulled out a 3/8 tungsten GP jig and a Mini Berkeley Max Scent Craw trailer. Fished 3 points in clear water boat in 25’ caught 8 with 4 solid keeps. Water is super clear above the Kings River. Caught them on the same points I did when the water was muddy. Depth I’m guessing between 10’ and 15’. Tossed the JB on the same 3 points and no love, fish were stuck hard to the bottom. Surface temps on the White 50 degree. Temps up the Kings up to 53 in the backs of pockets. -
As you know I’ve caught hundreds of bass on it and funny thing that I simply cannot understand I have never caught a crappie or pan fish. Just crazy. Location, location.

From what I know, Bo owned 1/2 the company. The other owner contacted one of Bo’s best buddies last Friday. Said he was going to the storage unit where everything was kept. Owner lives out of state and has no intention of continuing the business, just wants out. Not by the piece but the entire works. Wanted to know if this person just wanted to buy it all at a discount price. I have not heard anything since.

Brandon Coulter has one rigged on his deck. Be interested if he fishes it. Shad kill on Douglas lake in Tennessee with surface temps around 50 degree. Let me At Em🤪🤪🤪🤪

Yep, absolutely no place in the game for it. Bad look for the Hogs. Most on the jump ball forum are pretty tired of the shirt coming off. Muss did park Smith on the bench, and I’d leave him there. He has the talent to be a game changer but he has been a game stopper for them. Terrible on defense and totally selfish on offense. Kid is trying to play for the next level. Without him they share the ball and are a more cohesive unit. Devo is just playing insane. Best player on the floor the last 3 games for the Hogs. They have a great shot at the final 4.
-
Yep Mizzou laid an egg against the smart kids. I’m on the Hogs from here on out.
-
Just heard, not going back into production but there may be some quantities for sale. Know more in a day or two.

Couple of buddies out yesterday at the Knob. Not as many numbers as the past 4-5 days, but some really Biggins. Bite changed a bit and that’s maybe why the fish were bigger. LM and K’s could both be caught but were in different parts of the water column. Both teams practicing for the tournament Saturday so that’s all I can do now. Water is falling like a rock, clearing and getting cooler. May not bode well for their bite. Both teams had several LM over 4 and several K’s pushing 3 pounds. Good Luck Guys.
