  5. Location: Campbell Point to Point 22 Water Temp: 63-64 Friday Started about 645am, and found a solid top water bite until about 830am. Found a nice school of largemouth off the end of a dock that was out in about 30 feet of water. There was pole timber near by, and the dock was about 200 yards inside the cove on the shade side. All of the fish came on a Dale Sellers custom painted Super Spook in Purple Shad. I even had my 2nd ever double on the spook. That was by far the best bite of the day. I was also able to get a few fish on the Ned, Spinnerbait, and RK Crawler. Overall, about 20 fish, and the majority on top water early. Saturday FOG! FOG ! FOG! Was joined by buddy Jim for the next two days, and we found the top water bite again in the same cove from Friday. The biggest difference was that the Largemouth were replaced with healthy Spotted Bass, and I mean fat, mean, aggressive fish. Jim and I landed about 20 fish in about 90 minutes, and many of the fish were solid keepers including two over 17 inches. We were able to get a decent Ned rig bite going for the remainder of the day, and we did try spinnerbaits and crank baits, but we could not find fish. Curious to know where we missed out. About 3:45 PM around Lunker Landing resort we found a solid Ned bite again with 3 solid keeper Spots and a could nice short Smallies. Sunday The weather played tricks on us! We thought the clouds would bring on the bite. Needless to say it was slow. We caught about 6 more on top in the morning, and then ground our about 12 more on the Ned rig the remainder of the day. Overall, about 60 fish for the weekend, and blessed to have such great company. I think overall, we were about two weeks early, and there needs to be a solid cold spell to get the feed bag really on for the late fall bite. I was really impressed with the quality of the Spotted bass, and I am looking forward to my Spring trip. Lures and Patterns Super Spook (described above); all of the fish were suspended over 30+ feet near docks and pole timber Ned Rig (Dave's 1/8 oz head, and TRD in PBJ, California Craw, and Green Pumpkin); Best bite was around docks with chunk rocks, and I was finding fish in the back corner of the dock or along the deeper edges of the dock. BEST OF LUCK and God Bless, Dave
  6. Congratulations on the Hawg!

  10. Wow! What a weekend for fishing! The last 4 days were some of the best fishing I have had on the lake in a couple years. I learned a lot about caught a bunch of fish. Started out on Friday morning with a Keitech Swim Grub and caught a nice healthy 19in Largemouth in the first hour. It was one of the best "marked" fish I have seen in years. Not a blemish on him and great color too. I found fish on some deeper points suspended in the trees. I only put three in the boat, and I decided to move on to the "Ned" rig which I have not used in the past. I spent the rest of the day playing with the Ned, and I had a blast. I caught about 25 fish, and most of them were between 13-14 inches. I tried to throw a few other baits (spinnerbait, rock crawler, wart), but to no avail. I stuck with what was working. Ended the day convinced that the Ned was the way to go for Saturday. I started Saturday in the rain, and the fish were in the mood. I landed about 50 fish through out the day including this 18 inch 3lb Meanmouth on a Ned rig. I was using Dave's jighwads and Zman TRDs (Green Pumpmin, California Craw, and PB&J) I knew that I could continue at this pace on Sunday, but I wanted to try to get a few bigger fish. I got a tip late in the afternoon from a "birdie" on the forum who told me take a Redfin and go out to the deep points in the morning and wake it across the tree tops. I was willing to give it a shot. Sunday morning dawned with perfect conditions to wake a Redfin, and it paid off. I had 12 fish with 7 keepers including the Spot and Largemouth below. By the end of the day, I had about 25 fish total, and many came on a Spro 115 in the same areas I was waking the Redfin later in the day when the wind came up. This morning, I was out for about an hour and caught 6 more on the Redfin with 2 keepers. Overall, it was a great weekend of fishing, and spending time with my grandmother in the evening. Great company! Here is a summary of my patterns: Ned Rig: 6-10 feet deep on banks with larger rock (soft ball sized), and back corner of docks. Many hit the bait on the way down and it was the "weightless" bite. I was using 1/16 and 1/8 oz heads with the above mentioned baits. I tried to keep the bait off the banks because many banks had a layer of "slim" in the 2-6 foot range. Keitech Grub: I was using the Swing Impact in Crystal Shad and a 3/16 oz head. I counted it down 5-7 sec, and then a slow steady retrieve. Redfin: I was using jointed flat finished model. I found fish in the deep trees on points. I was often in 60-80 feet of water throwing toward the bank as far as I could. I figure most fish were coming out of 30-40 feet deep. The fish were not schooling too much. Every once in a while a single would push bait to the surface. Here are the baits: Good luck to all, and thank you for the great information that this forum provides. I am looking forward to another trip in June. Dave

  18. Great Day Bill! Glad to see things are on the up down there. Stay healthy friend, and I will see you on Saturday Dave
  19. Awesome restoration! I restored a 1986 Tracker Pro Guide for my first boat.
  20. Dave's jigheads are fantastic!
  21. That was great! But, it does hit at a great point. Sometimes we get "fooled" into thinking expensive is better. Look at fishing right now.....the craze is the "Ned".....it costs $.50 for the jig head and $.50 for the TRD....$1.00 to catch fish. Oh the irony of fishing!! Gotta love it! Dave
  22. I really like my 6'6 Falcon Original ML for grubs, shakey heads, and ned rig.
  23. Are we allowed to "trailer" to other launch ramps? I don't have a large motor
  24. Are we allowed to "trailer" to other launch points?
