Great job! Sitting here in KC and telling my wife how jealous I am. Can't wait till March!!!

I have been shopping a lot trying to deal with the "Cabin Fever" issue right now, and I have to ask a question to all my fellow anglers. I have noticed that the pre-Rapala Warts are going for $10-15 a piece. What makes them so much better than the Rapala models? Why are they so coveted?

Happy New Year! I am looking to up grade my front electronics, but I am on a limited budget. So, I figured someone is bound to be up grading and looking to unload a 500 or 700 series color fish finder. Let me know if any one is looking to sell a unit this winter. Dave

My goals are... 1. Learn more about electronics. 2. Practice more drop shotting. 3. Learn more about fishing the jerkbait in the early spring

That is pretty cool. Looking forward to being back down in the spring. Why were we not able to see your line as a long perpendicular line?

Made it down today. What a great day on the river!!! I caught about 18-20 "stockers". Nothing big, but still a lot of fun. Best fly was a thread jig in olive green. Also caught a couple on a Bunny bug and sowbug.

I was conned into shopping...fishing tomorrow. How was the river today?

I perfer Jewel Football for dragging (1/2 and 5/8) and I like Eakins for pitching in shallow and around docks. I match them up with Chomper twin tails. Best of both worlds Jewel and Chomper!

It's been quite on here. Anyone fishing? Are they pushing water?

Bill, that was a great post. Your comments are educational to say the least. I agree about the baits. I have Rouges, Custom rouges (by Dale Sellars), McSticks, and X-Raps. I feel it is all about Location Location Location, and Timing, Timing, Timing! I am excited about the prospect of hooking up for a "stick" day with you. I love fishing the bait and I want to learn more. Dave

I have a Wart question. While fishing last weekend, I was throwing a wart and it started spinning in a circle as it was being retrieved. What causes this? Can it be tuned to run correctly?

Well, I enjoyed myself as usual on the lake. Going down for fish for a few days is one of my favorite activities of the year! 10/24-- Started our pretty slow up by Campbell Point. Then I nailed a nice keeper Spot on a Wiggle Wart. Then, I caught the biggest bass I have caught on the Rock three casts later. I caught a 21" 4.6 lb LM in about 8 feet of water. My next fish was a 3 lb LM on a War Eagle blade. Caught that one out of a bush. The rest of the day I caught a few non keepers on FB jigs and C-rig. 10/25--Tried a litte top water right off the bat. Caught a nice keeper Spot on a LC Wake Bait. Then, I went down the White River around Pt. 22 and caught a nice 15" SMJ on a FB Jig. Caught a few more on the FB jig, but that was the last keeper of the day. 10/26--Tough day today, I only caught 3 short Spots today. Unfortunately, my trip was called short due to some bad news from home. One of the assistant principals at Blue Springs HS passed away unexpectedly, and we had to reschedule our match with them for tomorrow. He was only 41, and it is a hard reminder for how lucky I am to have the opportunity to fish this weekend. May the Lord be with him and his family. See you all in March, and certainly in April!!!! Anyone out Thursday or Today? I am leaving at 8pm tonight...Boat is almost packed. So, correct me if I am wrong, there are numbers being caught just not quality?
-
Has anyone fished this area this week, that might be willing supply a little information to get me kick started. What is the water clarity like? What types of techniques are being "fruitful"? Thank you in advance and good luck to all the tournament guys and gals this weekend. Please don't run me over

Is the Corp running water? If so, How is the fishing?

Fortunately, the Weather service is predicting only "showers" for Tues-Thurs. It is only a 50% chance. Who knows. We just need stable weather to get the fishing going again, right?
-
Read the posts, and they will tell you everything. Wonderful people here. We all love to fish, and seem to share well. Good Luck.

The world is a small place. This is my first time on the forum in about a week....too much work. I am sorry to hear about the untimely death of Mr. Herringer. It turns out that his son and I are good coaching friends. Rob and I have been coaching together for about 4 years. Please pray for this wonderful family.

Had a great summer trip this year. Started out will Bill on Thursday morning, and he pretty much summed the trip up. It was a great morning with a Class A Guide! If you have not had the opportunity to fish will Bill....DO IT! I learned much from watching and he was very open about answering questions. I feel much more comfortable with the lake now. Friday, I tried to hit some of the same places, and the top water action was HOT again with at least 15 fish with 2 good LMs and numerous KYs. Tried my luck at the drop shot, and I was shocked...I figured it out. I caught at least 12 more woth 5 keepers on long points in about 25-30 ft. I was using Watermelon-Red worms. Saturday, was a topwater morning with 1 18inch SM and 1 19 inch LM with at least 12 more KYs. Sunday, mu topwater bite was gone 3 small whites and 1 KY. I did find some drop shot fish on some docks. 1 16 inch KY and a keeper LM mixed with some shorts. I tried a trotline for the first time with mixed results. I caught 1 gar, 1 16inch Crappie, 2 Channels ( 3 lbs and 10 lbs), and 3lb Flat head. It was fun. See you all in the Fall. Dave

Hey all, I am leaving tomorrow for a trip will Bill on Thursday. However, I promised my daughter we could do a trotline this year and see what happens at night. We will be in the Basin Hallow area of the lake. Is there any particular area that is better than another. What type of area should I look for when I am setting it in? Any help in this part of my adventure would be great. Thank you Dave

After months of waiting and watching you all have the fun, I finally get to do my own little report. I found most of the water in the area to be between 62-66 degrees. The fish were starting to bed, but were not holding. I just let them be, and do their thing. Majority of my fish were caught on the north side of the lake where the strong south wind was blowing the warmer water. Most of the fish were on the points or on banks with gravel that transitioned to larger rock. Most of these fish were caught on a 3/16 oz shakeyhead with a Zoom finesse worm in watermelon/red or a C Rig with a Fish Dr in the same color. I did catch an odd fish on fluke, FB Jig, and Grub. Then there was the rain. That changed the entire game...topwater. Monday and today I caught appoximately 30 fish on a Super Spook. These fish were in suspended chasing large schools of shad over 40-50 feet of water. It started about 6:30am and was over by 8:00 am. Overall, I caught and released 60+ fish and 18 of them were keepers. I also caught 4 white bass over 16 inches on top. Here are some pics from my long weekend.

So, these fish are untouched waiting for me...LOL
