Well, I went to BPS, and I decided to match my Crankin Sticks with the David Fritts models. I bought the 4.7.1 and the 5.2.1.
My finally question on this topic is which one is best suited for my deep baits (DD22 etc.)?
Also, which model of the Lucky Craft crankbaits are the most versitle? I am on a budget.

Hey all,
I have been doing some research, and I have not come up with a good conclusion. So I am coming to the experts!
I am on a budget, and I need a new Crankbait reel for under $100. I am going to be throwing DD22 type baits.
I saw BPS has a sale on the Pro Qualifier for $50. Is this a good choice? It has the 5.2.1 ratio.
Help!!!
Well, for my two cents I agree with the rest of you. I was unimpressed with the coverage. The mysterious DD22 was actually a Luhr Jensen Hot Lips. It is pretty darn easy to tell the difference!
I am just glad that I don't have to watch that ever again.
Good fishing and see you all in April

Battled the wind all day with some success. Caught 3lb and 2lb Rainbow in front of the Lodge. The former on a bunny bug and the latter on a olive thread jig. Caught 4 more smaller fish on a variety of flies (thread jigs, furbug, crackleback). For the first time in 20 years it was a good day.
I am making a trip down on Sunday. How's the stream this week? Any help with fly selection would be most helpful. I have not been on the river in 15 years, so this is a treat for me.

I fished out of Shell Knob for 3 days and had pretty good success all three days on a variety of baits and depth. Caught probably 40 fish with 10 being solid keepers. Not too bad for my first trip this year.
Caught fish early on a spook off some points and transition banks. Caught two big smallmouth (17ins) on FB jigs in about 18 feet of water
Had a good day yesterday with Spinnerbaits along sunny banks with wind. Also caught my first "double" off of a spook on Holiday Island. That was interesting.
Top baits were: Spook, 1/2 oz or 5/8 oz FB Jig in PBJ or Candy Melon, Double Willow Blade in purple shad.
I will try to post pics later on this week.
Thank you for all the valuable information that I collected from the site.

Well, 24 hours from now, I will be on the water finally.
Just wanted to see if anyone had been in this area this week, and good provide a little advice.
How would you recommend dealing with the yo-yoing temperatures this week? Have the bass started moving back into the creeks and coves or still on the main lake points?
Any help would be great.
I will be in a Lowe 165 Stinger...so don't run me over and please say HI!
Take care and see you tomorrow

What type of game plan would be best with the showers/rain mid-week and clearing skys throughout the weekend. Temps seem to be holding steady? I am getting very excited for the weekend. Have not been down in a year.
Hey all,
I have enjoyed reading all the posts this year, and I am getting ready to finally escape to come down. My family live two coves east of Bassin Hallow. I was wondering how I should approach this part of the lake this time of year. The long range forcast says Highs in the 60s and Lows around 50.
What type of strategy should I use? I struggled last fall, and I would like to improve my chances this year. I read Bill's "Cedar" post and I can think of some areas to try for that.
Any help would be much appriciated.

Hey all,
I am coming down in late October and I am hoping there is still a jig bite. I have the opportunity to pick up some custom FB jigs. They come in 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 oz. What size is the most universal for TR?
Dave
Are most people fishing Jewel football jigs in 1/2 and 5/8 and can I place orders over the phone for the jigging spoons? I see that they do not have a website. I saw last year guys were throwing some warts as well. Should I stock a few of them too?
I am planning on being down on the lake the last few days in October. What type of baits should I stock up on? I know this is an open ended question especially with the amount of water the lake has had this year. I am just on a budget and want to plan wisely. Any help would be much appriciated. Good fishing to you all and see you in the Fall.

Has anyone made any modifications to increase their hook up rate with the Spro Frogs. I love the bait, but I am losing fish after they are hooked up. Are you setting a firm hook?
I would rather stay away from a trailer hook.

I have read all of the posts and no one has really mentioned the areas between Lost Hill and Campbell point. That is where I spend most of my time. Has anyone been out that way? I am really interested in water temps and clarity. I will be down on Friday and I am getting super excited!! Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you
I have been reading that many of the guys are using chartruse blades. Is it possible to heat a blade up and use powder paint to dye it the color. Or is the water clearing enough that it is not necessary and gold or silver will work.
