  1. Congrats, and it was a beautiful day also.
  2. Well they are catching them, 15 lbs. or more all the way down to the 60th spot.
  3. Yes, reading what the Corps says, they are bound to that Newport gauge per order of Congress. They can't change that, except they have some leeway when there's potential flooding. I think the only way things can be changed is to get a coalition of people and businesses together that support change to the operating procedures and lean on your local congressman.
  4. Their last sentence mentions "monitoring the downstream gauges". The level at Newport is rising, but with dry weather in the long term forecast, we should see it start to drop once they stop full generation at Bull.
  5. I haven't been out for about a week myself, but they were as Devan said, just some here and there. Check point 5, back of Little Clifty, point 1, area around Indian creek launch - those are the places I'd look. You really need to be out as soon as it gets light in the sky too. Good luck!
  6. Certainly not worth the risk.
  7. Literally takes an act of Congress to get them to change operating procedure. And I have to wonder if these late winter, spring rains are now the new normal. If so, I agree that they need to get the water out of here when they can early in the year.
  8. You have to remember that they regulate according to the Newport Gauge which is at 22.5 feet right now. They can't release significant water under normal circumstances until the gauge reaches 14 feet. On top of that they won't release based on forecasts. So in a nutshell that is the logic. Not saying I agree with this, but that's the way it works.
  9. An inch or so wouldn't hurt in this area.
  10. Well the brussels sprouts look to be a bust, got a couple of handfuls out of 6 plants, noticed today that they are under attack from some kind of small bug. I don't think the temp being turned up to 95 helped them either. Broccoli is done also, but I expected it to be by now, it did well this spring. Tomatoes are way behind. Squash, cukes, and melons starting to take off.
  11. OK, I'm thinking the weekend of July 18.
  12. It's all about that Newport Gauge.
  13. So what government outfit is this that you are loading up vehicles to react to Covid/riots? Ya'll getting ready to go to war?
  14. It is in Bass Times, I get a paper copy, sorry don't have a link. I agree that missing a year shouldn't have a big impact. And you are right on hybrids, they won't be produced either, the article mentions that DeGray is the only lake in AR that now receives hybrid stocking.
  15. Something about the workers have to be in close proximity to each other harvesting the fish they use for brood stock. The article did mention that largemouth bass production is still on track. No mention of other fish. Nothing on the AGFC website BTW, or if there is, I could not find it.
  16. I think it is just stripers.
  17. Read today in Bass Times that AGFC will not be stocking striper fingerlings this year due to concerns over COVID. the whole process involves people coming in close contact so it's been cancelled.
  18. They are there, but 'Girthzilla' covered them up with it's big gut.
  19. I'd stick to the gills if the kids are happy catching them. Crappie are very tough on this lake, I would not even think fishing for them with young kids. If it was me, I would have them fish night crawler chunks on gravel - they won't get hung up all the time and you should be able to get a mix of species.
  20. I've always wanted to check that lake out myself.
  21. Ham made the trip over here today, we fished Windsor lake today for Bream. Great day of fishing, we had some slow spells every once in a while, but pretty much found fish all day long. Drop shot with red worms, fish were fairly shallow, maybe from about 3 feet deep out to 6 or so. I estimate we caught 75-80, I kept half a dozen and the rest were released. A lot of 7-8 inch fish, with a few bigger and Ham got big fish honors with a 13" Redear, biggest redear I have seen come out of one of these lakes.
  22. Sorry about that gash - probably had that same wind blow through Bella Vista early this morning, maybe for about 10 minutes it really blew, would not want to be out on any lake when that comes through.
  23. Went over to Hook, LIne and Sinker today to buy some red worms for some bream fishing. They had some Speed Wakes hanging on the wall behind the cash register. So making a trip to get some worms ended up costing $50.
  24. So 17 hours ago when you first posted you had your wife's permission to buy this boat, you should've had it by now, assuming it's worth the $2K and it's what you want in a boat. Don't give your wife time to reconsider, when the window of opportunity opens, you have to take advantage.
