  1. They showed that as a highlight during this show. Big rainbow for sure.
  2. I don't know, maybe the brand you use is more fray resistant? I was using 10 lb. Seaguar. I don't have a problem tying on leaders so it is not a big deal to me going with a leader or not.
  3. I tried straight braid to the jighead the other day. I got bites, but had problems with fraying, so I went back to using a leader. I fish Ned rigs this time of year on the bottom, dragging them through rocks and trees, fraying becomes an issue, braid seems to be much worse than mono or floro when it comes to fraying. Tying on a leader is not that much of deal either, so I'll keep on using one. I'll bring a few spinning reels with me with pre-tied leaders on them, I'll just swap out the reel. If using straight braid works for someone, that's great, but if you want to use a leader it isn't super complicated or very time consuming to use one. No doubt that braid is very sensitive, and really helps in detecting very light bites typical of this time of year. No stretch so hook setting power is better too. And on spinning gear you don't get line twist problems and snarls like other line types.
  4. It runs again on the Outdoor channel, Saturday 6 AM. Bill and company throwing some Rogues, catching some browns. I'm assuming January of 2019.
  5. Not me out there today, football to watch. Not to mention lake has jumped up close to 4 feet.
  6. I could drink a Diet Coke or two. Bottled water should work too.
  7. I'll copy over all that once we get confirmation that we have the permits, but short answer is that it is Big bass, bring it to Eagle Rock to get weighed (you can launch anywhere). We appreciate a $10 donation, which will go to Christian Action Ministries who provide meals for the needy. No trolling, bait, or A-rigs.
  8. Looks like BASS updated their website. It is much faster than last year. First tourney is Feb. 6, St Johns river. Clunn going to win again?
  9. Hollandaise is good over salmon too.
  10. Thanks Brett for setting this up. I am in. I'm sure most of you know, but there are a bunch of other leagues sponsored by tackle companies that are open to joining such as Tackle Warehouse, Spro, and AFTCO. If they are setup as Public, you can join them for free and have a shot at winning free tackle.
  11. Better check mine - I have Cox, if they pull this "Sports Package" extortion thing, I'll be a little upset myself.
  12. Yikes! Did they just cancel it recently?
  13. Saturday - Rain changing to snow - going to be a good day to watch fishing shows, and playoff football, and college hoops.
  14. Seth - I am on cable and they show it as a new episode on Bull, sounds like they screwed it up on your channel guide.
  15. I was watching some outdoor cooking show a few years ago, can't remember its name, but it was something along the lines of "Eating nasty critters". They went out and shot some crows and then cooked them, I can't remember how they cooked them, but they claimed they were edible. I don't plan on trying them myself.
  16. Maybe they heard you, they did show what they were fishing for the most part. But I hear you on the fish swinging, it gets to be too much at times. I record it myself, one of the reason is that I can fast forward through the commercials and some of the repetitive fish swinging stuff. They give a pretty good look at the buzz frog deal that was working well on the top water fish.
  17. Monday AM I was getting the boat ready to launch at Big M. There was a rig parked in one of the spots at the top of the lot and as I was getting my boat ready I heard a kind of thumping noise coming from that trucks bed. I looked over and I could see a crow perched on the bed and the thump was still going on. Had to walk over and check it out, got close and the lookout crow took off, and his buddy in the bed flew out. Looked in the bed of the truck and there was a bag of deep corn, which was obviously what the bird was working on. Got the boat in the water, the crows went back at it, but the guys who had launched were across the lake so I motored over and told them about it. Saw them back at the dock at the end of the day and they said they when they went back, the crow had worked a small hole in the bag, so they put it in the truck cab and got back to fishing. There's always a couple of crows around that ramp looking for something to get into. When I park my truck, there's usually one sitting on the boat gunwale looking for something to pilfer. Fished Monday and Tuesday, fishing for me was not too hot, caught a couple dozen bass on the Ned rig, with only three keepers. Weather was pretty nice, so I am not complaining, I enjoy getting out. Talked to a couple of people that were fishing jigs, they aren't tearing it up, but they are getting a few with some being decent sized.
  18. Talked to a couple of guys that were pulling out at the Big M ramp, they said that it took 18 and change to win.
  19. The show was interesting, I expected those guys to target spotted bass, but it was mostly flipping cover or throwing topwaters on the bank for largemouth. Another show this Saturday.
  20. I have seen them with the buggy flag deal, and that is good. I don't want anyone to think I am mad at kayakers, I might get one myself someday.
  21. Dang kayaks, they are becoming a 'thing' on the Bella Vista lakes too. Should be illegal to own a camo painted kayak unless you are duck hunting. They are hard enough to see as it is, but going out in the lake with boats buzzing around at 50 mph in a low lying camo colored kayak is nuts if you ask me. If we're going to have any new requirements, then maybe we should focus on making those boats more visible, as in bright orange, pink, or chartreuse. 😄
  22. That's a line stretcher there, congrats!
  23. My grandpa on my mom's side of the family wouldn't fillet a fish because he considered it wasteful. So when I visited my grandparents as a kid when we had fried fish, I spent a lot of time picking around bones. I miss my grandparents but I don't miss trying to eat those whole cooked bream. If I'm going to eat a fish I fillet them. Only exception I used to make was to cut chinook salmon into steaks for grilling.
  24. I'll bring the dogs, I think I saw someone else is down for the chili.
  25. Good grief, those spots are fat!
