  1. Got out early, flat calm, threw a top water and had some decent fishing for the first couple of hours walking the dog. Caught a couple dozen on the top water with a few keepers mixed in. The fish were on main channel banks and in the coves, the best bite was over 5 - 10 FOW. Wind kicked up about 10 AM and the top water bite pretty much stopped when that happened. Could not get much going on the Keitech or the shaky head. For the most part the fish looked to be gone from the main lake points that they were on just a couple of days ago. Threw a crank on some windy banks, no touches on it. Wind really started blowing, bite was slow, so I left at 1230. First two casts caught these two fish: Only Keitech keeper: This post has been promoted to an article
  2. I have thrown a couple of big glide baits, had a couple of bass swim up and take a look, but never eat them.
  3. Fishing was a little different today, caught 30 spots, not one largemouth or smallmouth. Most came on a 3.3 Keitech on a 1/4 oz head, caught a couple on the swing jig/Menace and one on top water. Fish were on main lake points and windy banks, usually in 5 -20 FOW. Caught 3 walleye, one was a keeper, a couple of crappie and even a rainbow trout, but no dang largemouth or smallmouth. WT 56, but I don't remember looking at it after 10 AM or so, I bet it warmed up later in the day.
  4. Yeah, in just a few weeks the wake boats will emerge.
  5. @Johnsfolly You need to persuade your management that you could do your job working out of a 'home office' located on Table Rock.
  6. Wish I had some to offer, I just don't fish that lake very often. Last year KVD whacked them on a square bill during a BASS tourney. Anyway, good luck and I'll be curious to hear how good/bad the fishing is.
  7. Nice bird Marty!
  8. Saw this one on Beaver a couple of years ago, copied from a thread on the Beaver lake forum:
  9. I love fishing a square bill when they are biting it.
  10. Yep, that's why I use the 1/0 on the smaller swimmers.
  11. It was a nice eye - lucky for him or more likely her, I just had some fried fish a week or so ago so she got to live to fight another day.

  13. Dirty jigs Guppy heads, the 3/0 hooks do have a longer shank than the 1/0.
  14. Yep, size of bait - I use the Dirty Jigs Guppy heads also. One big reason is they have a 1/0 hook that I use with 1/8 oz head and 1/4 oz head. I put 2.8 on the 1/8 oz and 3.3 on the 1/4. Using a shorter 1/0 hook leaves more body on the smaller Keitechs to swing free so it will really kick on a slow retrieve. Longer baits like the 3.8 and 4.3, I'll use a 3/0 hook and you can find 3/0 hooks from a lot of manufacturers, what is hard to find are 1/0 hooks on swimbait jig heads. I haven't looked at the Berkley half-head yet. And don't forget the superglue.
  15. When he launches at 1030 PM, I have probably been asleep for 2 hours at least.
  16. Some great smallies there too.
  17. Way to go fellas, some very nice fish ya'll caught!
  18. Yep, lots of fish being caught out there by people, it is good to see.

  20. They are still biting. Early in the AM I was catching fish out a little deeper, had my boat in 20 FOW and kept seeing fish on the graph so I started swimming the Keitech out deep, it was almost all spots out there and for most of the day the Keitech produced spots with an occasional largemouth and one meanmouth. Never caught a smallmouth today. Swing jig with the Menace Grub got some bites, but they were real squirrely bites, probably missed 15 bites on that thing and only boated 2 or 3. Did some cranking with a DT-6, didn't get a lot of bites with it, but caught 3 keeper largemouth on the DT. Those fish were pretty shallow off chunky rock banks. The bass seem to be almost everywhere, main channel points and chunk rock banks and back in the coves. Lots of little males sitting on beds. Caught a couple of walters on the Keitech and one was a keeper. Surface temps were at 56 when I left.
  21. Could've used that bighead in this skit. Warning: it is really stupid.
  22. Point taken on the tube, I'll have to give it a shot.
  23. That's pretty neat getting on the JB bite!
  24. Wow! There's a few there.
  25. Riley's Station is right near Buffalo City, several lodging options to chose from and they rent boats.
