Got to the launch at 0630, and the fog was thick, stayed close waiting for it to burn off, took almost 2 hours for it to go away.
Threw a buzz bait to start, boated 2 short bass and had another half dozen take a swipe at it. Gar were interested in the buzzer also, had one follow it right up to the trolling motor, and had another one, and it looked to be about as long as my leg, grab it right at the boat. He had it for about a second, I looked at him, he looked at me, and he swapped ends and took off. Fortunately he let go of the bait before he took off.
Threw a "Crock-o-Gator" buzzbait for the first time today. Compact buzzbait, you can bend the wire a little so that the blade makes contact with the body and get a pretty good clacking noise if you want to. One thing I did not like about it was that the skirt strands will sometimes work their way onto the shaft holding the blade, easy to fix, but it will wreck the retrieve when it happens.
When the fog burned off the top water bite died, so I threw some jigs and did a little drop shotting. Picked up a few fish, but never really found them. Left at noon with a dozen total, 2 keepers.
Water temp was 80. Did not see a single wake boarder, skier or jet ski.
