  1. What do you guys think, first part of next week, high temps predicted to be in the 70's. I'm hoping this improves the bass fishing, but then again I'm concerned the change may shut them down for a few days.
  2. Good on you Josh. Hope this guy finds out and gets his stuff back.

    Nba Draft

Don't think I've ever seen a draft where there was so little promise seen in the players by the pundits. I don't know if it's because the pundits are overly critical or if the players drafted are really that mediocre at best.
  4. Yeah with this summer heat the play toys are out earlier in the morning now. Yesterday by 9 AM the wake fest was going full tilt.
  5. Yes it does make sense to me to have the players discuss things. I think one big mistake made in this whole process was to draw a map showing boundaries. People within those boundaries see a potential for government interference or regulation. Would have been much better IMO to have left the boundary map out of this.
  6. Not a drop here either. Freakin weather dude was saying last night we could get an inch or more. Sheesh..
  7. Yeah I do too, if not, I'll be dragging the hose over to the garden tomorrow AM.
  8. But do we see any issues like that on the White river system? I guess they could pop up, but I'm not a fan of creating bureaucracy just in case it's needed for something that doesn't exist. If we've got a problem, fine, get some folks together and work on it. And I'd say it's more likely to have lawsuits when you have an additional layer of "sponsors" in the middle. More people to deal with, more signoffs needed - this is the perfect environment for litigation.
  9. Note to self: When visiting China, do not order pork items from the menu.
  10. Weather guesser is saying we're going to get some rain tonight. I hope he is right, we could use some.
  11. Lots of bank space at Big M or Viney COE parks. But I have no idea how the cat fishing would be at either place, but if I was going to do it, I'd set up at the point off Viney, nice shallow point with deep water on both sides, seems it would be a logical place for a cat to roam at night. But if Jason's suggestions are closer, I'd go with what he says.
  12. Thanks for that info Jason. Do you think the Jika may be less snaggy than the t-rig?
  13. Well if they've got a committee of 26 sponsors, with that many folks in a committee, I doubt they'll ever find agreement on anything that will do any harm. I'm not necessarily opposed to the whole thing, but if it's a committee that's being created to do nothing, what the heck is the purpose? Do we really need another layer of oversight?
  14. Just harvested a cucumber. My first piece of produce from this years garden.
  15. Glad to see Jesse realized the world wasn't going to end. This whole thing was way, way overblown.
  16. Launched at 0430, but the pre-dawn launch did not payoff like I hoped, only boated one 12" bass. Once it started getting light, motored over to my favorite point and caught a 1/2 dozen or so early on the c-rigged Ol Monster, then a couple on the Drop shot, and managed a few top water fish here and there. Decided I was going to do some t-rigging of the Ol' Monster after reading Josh Holts reports of his success with that set up. I did OK on a couple of bluff ends and points fishing it 10-20 feet deep. Ended up with around 20 bass, biggest was 2.5 lbs. It got hot fast, I was on the trailer at 1130 and it was 93 degrees. Water temp was 86 when I left. Caught this mean mouth on the Ol Monster, he thumped it and pulled hard. Thought I had a pretty good one at first, these meanies can pull!
  17. That does suck, abkeenan, but thankfully your uncle didn't get killed. I do have a moron story for today, not nearly as bas as yours, but I'm fishing a feature known as the "Devil's backbone", which is a rocky point that runs out quite a ways and is very hazardous to navigate around, especially at low water. Anyway I'm fishing a gap in the ridge, between a big shallow rock and a rock pile that has a warning buoy on it, just a little further than a long cast between the rock and the buoy. Here comes a pontoon on plane right for me, they come through that gap on plane, maybe 30 feet from me. I'm assuming that with the confident manner they blew through there with, they know where the rocks are. But no need to blow by a stationary boat 30 feet away.
  18. Just looked at the gauges, they're dropping her, closing in on 1123, running water on Beaver and Table Rock.
  19. No better eating salmon, IMO, than a sockeye. Nice pics, looks like fun!
  20. Haven't fished docks a lot this year, but I like your way of thinking, might have to throw the DS around some docks with a finesse worm.
  21. It's funny to read comments about it in the paper. The "for" folks say why worry, nothing will change, the "agin it" folks say why implement it as nothing will change.
  22. I'm in the start-stop camp. I do set the speed to as slow as I can get away with as the TM definitely is noisier at higher speeds.
  23. Comment from Tommy Biffle concerning color being a factor in his Elite series win: Biffle's primary island area had a relatively featureless sandy bottom, but a small ditch was formed where the current made a turn. "I'd get on the downstream side and throw upstream, and then bring the Bug down with the current and let it fall over that ditch. That was really the only thing in there for them to be on." For flipping, he began the event using a smoke silver Bug, but switched to green-pumpkin with some orange dye after he and fellow competitor James Elam both found crawdads of that color in their livewells. "I flipped one of those into a bush right beside the boat right after I'd just flipped the silver one in there, and as soon as I did it, one bit it. From then on I only fished that color and just caught the heck out of them. On day 3 I caught between 55 and 65 fish, so it was definitely a color they wanted."
  24. I picked up a couple of bags of those Z drop worms, haven't tried them yet, but they look good.
  25. I've got a Dobyns 805 CB rod paired with a Revo Toro Winch. I can crank the Deep cranks all day with that setup. Just can't get any fish. I've heard people talk about throwing square bills on a Carolina Rig, might be worth a shot someday when I'm really bored. I can get the deep crank down by casting it then moving away with the trolling motor, a technique called "strolling". I got all kinds of book knowledge, just gotta get some fish.
