  1. 3 big stripers sounds like a good day to me, thanks for the report, glad to hear you got into them!
  2. Link to training video: http://www.youtube.com/embed/hN2gMP3Q2Z4
  3. Me and Jeb launched out of Houseman first thing in the AM yesterday, fished up and down river, throwing various artificials and never had a single bite. They really started running the river water starting about an hour after we got there, I don't know if that is good or bad for the bite, but it was really running. Weather was cold, windy, and sunny, probably not the best day to go walleye fishing. About 0930 we trailered up the boat and headed over to Beaver, Indian creek arm to bass fish, and wouldn't you know it, Jeb caught a nice 23" walleye on a jig. Seems we catch more walleye when we're bass fishing than we do when we target walleye.
  4. I drove over the White River on 412 about 2 weeks ago, water was brown, there was a story in today's paper about bass fishing up War Eagle, water muddy there also. They did catch some bass on a black crankbait. Good luck if you go, and please let us know how the fishing was!
  5. It is amazing how much tackle is being sold, a lot of the paddletail swimbaits are sold out on the online tackle distributors. Swimbait rods are sold out. I saw on Tacklewarehouses' site that manufacturers are now building rods specifically for A-rigs. It is good for the tackle industry, not so good for out wallets.
  6. I was out yesterday also, but I was fishing the Indian creek area, I was targeting black bass with the A-rig, but did not get a one, I did catch a 10lb. striper on the A-rig, which I was grateful for as I haven't had a fish fry in a while. That was the only bite I had all afternoon. Talked to three guys fishing out of a bass boat, all three were throwing the A-rig, they had caught 8 bass, and had caught 20 on Saturday, so it definitely did slow down on Sunday. Beautiful day to be out, but tough fishing.
  7. Next big advance? Maybe 3D DI and SI, course you'd have to wear the 3D glasses, maybe they'll come out with polarized 3D glasses, LOL.
  8. Very nice! Some good eats there.
  9. Thanks for sharing those images Trophy. Very cool so see that spoonbill. My dream bassboat would have a DI on the front and an SI in the console.
  10. Nothing wrong with a 7 lb. bass, very nice!

    Big Blue

Wow, that's one big blue! Thanks for posting that.
  12. You are right, the A-rig was a debate topic between the parties last night. The Democrats say that to make the A-rig available to hard working Americans, there should be a government subsidy made available to offset the high price of the A-rig. The GOP position is that the high price should act as an inducement to Americans to work harder, become rich, and therefore be able to purchase the A-rig without government assistance.
  13. I still have a couple of River Runts, they're probaby 40 years old now. I wonder how the A-rig would work with 5 River Runts?
  14. You can get some good deals on lefty baitcasters on Ebay. Makes me wish I could use a lefthander, but I'm a righty with BC reels.
  15. Underwater video of the A-rig in action. You can groove to the 70's style guitar music.
  16. I spooled up with 50# Spiderwire stealth, only used it once so far, but seemed to work well, very castable. I use the braid primarily so I can pull the A-rig off snags. The A-rig works real well as a brush pile locater.
  17. I've got a Calcutta 200 that I used for the first time the other day for A-rigs. Worked well.
  18. They're probably still too small to keep, they were only 3-4" long when stocked a few months ago.
  19. I was throwing jerkbaits last week on the White river arm of TR and my buddy Jeb was tossing the A-rig. I caught 2 bass, biggest 12", he caught 13, biggest just shy of 6 Lbs. That A-rig is tough to beat.
  20. I was fishing in Jeb's boat with him a couple of weeks ago up by Rocky Branch, he caught 3 nice 2-3 lb. whites on the A-rig. I think it will work for them, but might have to run smaller baits on it, like grubs, jigs, or maybe Road Runners.
  21. Congrats, that's a nice bunch of quality fish! I wonder what it will be like fishing an A-rig when the upriver white bass run starts.
  22. Yep that would be the drawback, a fish bending out the hook and getting off, but we've been using lighter wire hooks on our jigheads and only once has a fish bent one out and gotten off, just need to lighten up on the drag a bit so they can't get the leverage to bend out a hook. I've probably seen about 15-20 solid snags that would have resulted in losing the rig if not being able to bend out the hook.
  23. Glad to hear you got into them, the A-rig rocks!
