  1. There's a little vegetation, but it is just a little. Smallmouth are going to be close to the banks pretty soon if not there already. Might be going over there tomorrow so I'll hopefully find them. Lake has come up 7 feet, has some stain, fishing should be getting good.
  2. Give Lillys Landing a call. Very clean cabins, reasonable rates and it's close to downtown Branson.
  3. Right now, if I am reading the charts correctly, they are running 14K CFS over the dam. The Kings has crested and is dropping fast, but it is still running 20KCFS into the lake. The James is still coming up a bit and is running at 14K CFS. Lake is up 4 feet and is still rising. I can't find anything that states how long they'll leave the flood gates open. Probably depends on how high they'll let Bull get and how much water they can run out of Bull. However, I think you'll be fine next week, I'm assuming you can dock your boat at the resort so you won't have to deal with flooded ramps. Weather looks to be nice all week, sunny and warm, would not surprise me if a lot of fish are up on the bank, fishing could be really good. You will have to look out for floating wood out on the lake, but other than that, things may work out well for your trip.
  4. Love those smallies. Dutch got one about 3.25 lbs., a couple of weeks ago, it pulled pretty good. Beaver has been fishing good for smallies the last few years, but it seemed to slow a bit last year. It's about time for them to get going.
  5. So did the danger sign stop you?
  6. Stumbled across this today while stuck in the house watching the rain. From a couple of weeks ago.
  7. Thanks - looks to be a little over 3" in the last 24.
  8. It's started here again, wind, rain, lightning.
  9. It hasn't been too bad here, took a ride yesterday afternoon, Little Sugar is up but not out of its banks. Radar showing a lot of rain to the east, south, and southwest and I'm guessing some of that will move up here.
  10. I need to get a rain gauge. Little break in the rain here, but radar showing what looks to be another round moving in.
  11. Internet has been down since this morning, connected through the phone hotspot. It's slow. Glad to see your mom didn't get hit by that tornado Marty.
  12. Rain coming down here.
  13. That was a wise decision IMO.
  14. Welcome!
  15. Good luck! Be careful out there in what could be a nasty day Friday weather wise.
  16. Snakes and gators I can deal with, but if there are any ticks, I am out.
  17. Looks like a great place to catch some bream! 😀
  18. Looks like it is on, have not seen anything about a cancellation. Bring that rain gear.
  19. Flood watch issued: Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall will result in storm total accumulation of 4-6" with locally up to 8".
  20. We might even get a little snow Saturday night/Sunday AM.
  21. "On largemouth and smallmouth, a 14-20 inch slot, with 3 fish under 14 and 1 fish over. But the tournament crowd would scream bloody murder over that idea, and don't kid yourself...these days the tournament crowd has all the power." That's what happened on the Coosa river lakes proposed changes, the Alabama DCNR proposed a 14-20" slot limit for bass, the tourney crowd and local chambers of commerce freaked out and got the proposal killed off. So in that case, the tournament crowd exercised their power. In spite of a study showing a 30% mortality rate to bass that are kept in a livewell, which was the reason for the proposal. Economics won out over fish management. The thing is, Lake Fork has had a slot limit for years and that lake is pounded by tourney and recreational bass fishermen. If the fishing is good, people will come and fish. Killing off a slot limit proposal designed to improve the quality of the bass population was short sighted. I highlighted a statement below that shows you how hard is to bring about change that could be beneficial to the fishery. People complain about the fishing being poor, but fight back against any changes designed to improve the quality of the fishery. "Slot limits have been a hot topic in Alabama in recent months. In November 2024, the Alabama Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division proposed a plan to institute a 14- to 20-inch tournament-only slot limit for all six lakes on the Coosa River in response to research conducted by Auburn University that tracked bass mortality rates on the Neely Henry Reservoir over the past three years. The DCNR paid for that research project to the tune of $843,000 “in response to persistent complaints from anglers about the declining quality of the black bass fisheries on Coosa River reservoirs.” “After taking into consideration all of the fisheries data collected by our staff, various scientific studies and feedback from tournament and local fishermen as well as many city and county government entities, I have determined that the short-term economic impacts of a 14-20 inch slot limit outweigh the long-term benefits of a larger size structure of the bass population on the Coosa River reservoirs. At this time, no changes for the Coosa River fishery will be presented to the Conservation Advisory Board for consideration."
  22. First round has moved through here, a lot of wind but not much rain.
