  1. I think I got the date wrong in the title.
  2. Thanks, I will check them out.
  3. Or is he talking about this?
  4. I just placed an order with the Zig Jig company owner. I'm going to get 3 dozen 1/8 and 3 dozen 1/16. He saying that if the river remains low the 1/16 will work the best. He's going to make up an order of various colors that he recommends. Some of you guys are bringing boats and some are bringing food, so this will be my contribution to the cause.
  5. Muddy - I just talked to the guy at Zig Jigs and he can get an order out today, he's got them in stock - but with the storm coming in we need to get them ordered today. I can get 4 dozen 1/8 and split them with you - what colors? If I don't hear form you soon, I'll just get some olive ones/ brown orange/ white gray.
  6. Tulsa - Not a bad place to live for a fisherman, quite a few reservoirs within an hour or two. Stripers in the Arkansas river also.
  7. Took a look at ordering some of those jigs - they want a $44.00 minimum order. I don't need 4 dozen of them - I'll try and pick some up at Cranfield.
  8. Yep the date is still a ways out, weather could be different from the forecast. When I talked to the Rileys a few weeks ago, they wanted to be called a few days before we show up so that we can tell them how many are coming. So I'm thinking that next Tuesday we should get a poll of who is going for sure.
  9. Not that I know her personally, but supposedly she is a huge sports fan. And, again supposedly, very knowledgeable about college FB. I'm more worried about the "Homer" people on the committee - Archie Manning for example.
  10. Sounds like the way it's been on Table Rock lately.
  11. After finding a bit of a bite Sunday late in the day, I though I had things figured out - but I was wrong. Worked hard to get 10 bass, only 2 keepers. Fishing a Zoom Centipede Texas rigged with a 3/16 oz weight in water that was 10-25 feet deep off steep banks produced the most bites. Got a bit of a breeze for about an hour and threw a crank bait for a bit and picked up a couple of 12" bass doing that. Talked to another guy that came in the same time I did, and he had about the same results as me. With this cold front coming in, it will probably be a couple of weeks until I get out to the Rock again. I need to get over to Swepco also. There should start to be a good jerk bait bite here on the Bella Vista lakes after this cold front moves on. My trolling motor batteries are just about done, I hate buying new batteries.
  12. The Arkansas AD is the head of the committee! I expect to see Arkansas in the playoff next year even with a 4-8 record. This committee thing should be a hoot, it will be like when the Cardinals select a new Pope. The committee will probably be sequestered in a locked down environment for however long it takes to figure out the top 4, after a few days of drama, a little puff of smoke will come out of the chimney and they will announce to the world the 4 teams for the playoffs.
  13. I've been on the Auburn campus, had a software install job there about 6 years ago. This was before the sacred tree was killed by that Alabama nut fan. During lunch one day, the Auburn people that I was working with took me to see the tree and talked about the Auburn football tradition - these people are brainwashed. Arkansas still had a decent football team then, so I wasn't embarrassed when talking SEC football with them. I got the impression that Auburn is a football program first and a place for learning a distant 2nd.
  14. Welcome Bushman - I lived in North Bend for close to 20 years before moving here and I also miss the salmon and steelhead fishing, but I like the bass fishing down here. I can't help you out with any Kansas fishing advice, but if you're ever down here in NW Arkansas give me a holler and maybe we can get out and fish for some of the bass around here.
  15. I was getting a little worried about the weather, if we were talking teens to 20's in the mornings I probably would not go, but for right now it's looking like Friday will have a high of 42 or so. If that holds true then I still plan on coming.
  16. We just need Michigan State to beat OSU, then whoever wins the SEC will play FSU for the NC and it will make perfect sense. If OSU wins and Auburn wins then it looks like we'd have OSU play FSU with an Auburn team that had beaten the #1 and #5 teams in consecutive weeks locked out of the NC. That would just be plain wrong. That being said, I want the NC game to be between Mizzou and FSU.
  17. Plug, these are new lures from Rogue. Deep divers, not the stuff you're fishing on LOZ. Concepts are different from what you're used to.
  18. That would be pretty sweet!
  19. Well at this point who done what doesn't really matter that much. That whole rebranding thing Rainbow is talking about was tried with Chum salmon. Chums have a bad rap because as soon as they hit the rivers they deteriorate quickly, but if you catch them in the salt water, bleed them and ice them right away they are tasty. So the salmon industry came up with a marketing campaign and sold them as "Silver Brite" salmon.
  20. Thanks guys for the info on the Zig jigs, I'll see if I can order a few. Good idea Gavin - I'll try that out also.
  21. Thanks for the report!
  22. You do know these are deep divers? Wouldn't make much sense to throw them up on the bank when the bass are up shallow, I'd use something else, a shallower model, but that's me.
  23. Sometimes, but not always, I get quite a few jerkbait fish suspended over timber and brushpiles. If I need to bang stuff off the bank and rocks I probably won't be using one of these. But I can usually cast well enough to avoid beating the crap out of my lures.
  24. Well I have some Float-n-Fly jigs. I wonder if they are any tackle shops nearby the resort that sell any Zigs?
