  1. HAHA, I don't recall using the word "genius". That's always a thought that has occurred to me, if you're swimming in money and plan to go out on the town and drink/toke - hire a freaking limo.
  2. I called and spoke to Mrs. Riley. She is going to put Phil and I in the "Loft". The Loft has 3 separate bedrooms, Phil is staying just on Friday night. So on Friday night there is one open bedroom if anyone wants to stay in it and help share the cost. There will be 2 open rooms on Saturday, so if someone is thinking of coming down Saturday and just staying one night then there is an opening for you. As an FYI, the Loft has only one bathroom. There is a coffee maker and pots and pans. You need to bring your own toiletries as they do not supply any. I will bring paper plates/plastic cutlery and cups for all to use. The Loft is next door to where Gotmuddy is staying and it shares a common firepit, so we can sit out in the evening around the campfire. Mrs. Riley said she would provide firewood. The open rooms I mentioned will be first come, first served, by posting in this thread. Again, one room open Friday night, 2 open Saturday night. Mrs. Riley does not accept credit cards, check or cash only. She is going to give us a discount, don't know what it is at this point. There is additional lodging available outside of the rooms I mentioned in the Loft. Link to the Loft: http://www.rileysstation.com/Cabins/Loft.aspx
  3. Where is the Brule? Does it get salmon and steelhead runs?
  4. You'd think that geography could help Mizzou, being the furthest north SEC team on the west side of the Mississippi, a recruit from Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, could paly for an SEC team and still be close to home.
  5. I do have a crate, but don't worry about it, Phil is going to split the bunk lodge with me.
  6. I was just checking out that River Villa - looks like it has a strict no pets policy. I have to bring my dog. Does anyone want to split the Bunk Lodge with me, it looks to be $115/night. 2 separate suites. http://www.rileysstation.com/Cabins/BunkLodge.aspx
  7. I need to go one of these years. It sounds like early November is prime time on those rivers mentioned by the OP? What is bank access like? If I ever go, I'd be bank/wade fishing.
  8. Yep, I imagine his agent set it up for him. Hopefully he'll live within his means, seems it should be easy to do, but it's amazing how many of these guys are clueless when it comes to money management.
  9. True, I'd rather him go to an SEC team then another conference. But I wish he'd gone to Arkansas or even Mizzou, but it looks like these schools weren't even on his radar.
  10. Depressing news: The nation’s No. 1 recruit chose a new home Thursday, and it’s Tuscaloosa. Woodbridge, Va., defensive end Da’Shawn Hand verbally committed to Alabama during a ceremony at his high school Thursday, going with the Crimson Tide over Florida and Michigan.
  11. he's not a knucklehead, at least when it comes to signing a contract. Pretty good deal for a guy that is now basically a decoy receiver. Bowe, Kansas City’s first-round draft pick in 2007 out of LSU, signed a five-year, $56-million contract with $26 million guaranteed in March 2013. The contract contains a $15 million signing bonus and the guarantee of Bowe’s 2013 and ’14 base salaries.
  12. Yep 100% agree on the sensitivity thing. I'd be looking for a rod that can load up properly on the cast, and when you're casting a light bobber not every rod will do. And I'd want one that reacts quickly to hooked fish moving around. Lightweight is also good, especially on a 10' rod.
  13. I'll sign up for bringing the tub of cole slaw. I'm not a big breakfast eater either, but I have to have something. I can bring some boxes of those Hostess jelly doughnuts. Gotta have coffee also - do the cabins have coffee makers? Also would be willing to bring plastic cutlery, dishes, and cups.
  14. Thanks for that info, I've been thinking of moving up to a 10'. And I like reasonably cheap.
  15. I've got an 8.5 foot spinning rod that I used to use for steelhead fishing. Works well for the FNF.
  16. Thanks for the replies, I'm going to give it a go this winter.
  17. I'm thinking about this, I would have to bring my dog, he can stay in his crate in the cabin during the day if it's OK with the lodge rules. I snore like a locomotive so in the best interests of everyone getting a good nights sleep, I'd need to be in my own room. I don't have a river boat, so I'd have to bum rides (be happy to pick up the gas and oil bill), and I am not a fly fisherman, so I'll be tossing hardware. If all that is acceptable to you folks, I'd say I'm about 90% in on this.
  18. Great report, looks like a wonderful weekend. I've been thinking of tossing the rig myself, it's getting to be that time of year. Those ribs look awesome!
  19. Saw "Skykomish" in the title. I used to fish that river for salmon and steelhead when I lived in Washington state.
  20. Sounds like they've turned up the heat at the outlet if you're seeing 90's. That's good news.
  21. Anyone toss the float n fly around on the Rock during the winter? I tried it a bit last year and picked up a few fish, going to try and fish it more this winter.
  22. I've been waiting for this game, go Chiefs!
