  1. Ebay is a good place to check, but make sure you buy from a reputable seller (check feedback). Basstackledepot.com currently has a %30 discount sale, I'd take a look there. Tacklecenter.com has a %40 sale going on some items, their reel inventory is slim, but I believe they carry Lews. Tacklewarehouse is a great online store, but I don't know that they have a sale going right now.
  2. Just for the record, last year Shimano changed their product line names. The old Curado is now called the Chronarch. Old Citica is now the new Curado. Paint is different but other than that, the same reels just rebranded. So, you may want to look at a Shimano Chronarch, which is the same as the old green Curado. It's less than $200 so it's in your price range. Lots of good reviews on the Lews. The Gen 3 Abu Garcia Revo STX's are another great reel, some folks don't like the large gear box on the STX so check that out if you consider one. You can pick them up, NIB on Ebay for around $160.00.
  3. Thanks for that update Bill. May have to drag the boat over there this week.
  4. 44 lbs., not bad considering the conditions.
  5. Alright! Get back out there and make those fish pay.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I may have to do a little browsing.
  7. Yeah I'd say taking home $100,000 is a bonus. Winning is extremely important to those guys, being consistent is also important. Sponsors are also important. It's all important when you do it for a living.
  8. After interviews conducted at the preliminary hearing on August 17 were reviewed, five more felony counts were filed August 23 against James Crocker in regard to the July 20 gravel bar shooting of Paul Dart. Two counts of first degree class B felony assault and two counts of felony armed criminal action and one class D felony unlawful use of a weapon have been added to the charge of second degree murder of Dart. The five felonies were filed August 23, referencing a probable cause statement issued by a Crawford County sheriff’s detective on July 20, and are in regard to probable assaults on Robert and Regina Burgess, and Joshua Kling, present at the time of the shooting. Regina Burgess said at the time that another shot fired by Crocker had grazed her; a member of the sheriff’s department photographed reddened, but unbroken skin where Burgess said the bullet, or fragments, had struck her as evidence. Bond reduction for Crocker was denied August 21, and he remains in custody.
  9. Didn't know that, thanks.
  10. Abrazx is good stuff.
  11. I'm sticking to my beliefs that walleye are the source of all mysterious breakoffs.
  12. Keith Coombs win on Falcon lake last year (can't remember if it was FLW or Elite) comes to mind. He's a Falcon lake guide. At any of the big tournaments there's always some anglers that call that lake home. You'd think they would have an advantage, but it unusual in the big tourneys for one of the locals to win.
  13. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
  14. As far as the White, below Bull Shoals, why would you even need to chum?
  15. Co-angler won with a 2 day total of 12.42 lbs. A total of 5 keepers over 2 days for him. I didn't see a limit weighed by any of the co's on any of the 2 days. How often do you see that? The co that finished 3rd, weighed in only one fish on Friday and it was dead.
  16. Yeah they were recently considered "invasive" in some of the Washington alpine lakes and creeks. Thy didn't go as far as to poison the lakes, but they did remove limits on them. But who is going to hike 10 miles out of the mountains with a cooler full of trout? In some of the lakes they have really taken hold and are doing fine, too fine, they get stunted. But they'll never fade away on their own. There are alpine lakes that don't have good spawning structure and in those lakes they stock fingerlings, but nowadays those fingerlings are rainbows or cuts. They have stopped that also in the National Parks, as the bows and cuts are also considered invasive. many of the Alpine lakes did not have fish of any kind in them until trout were stocked. The main concern is that the trout may damage amphibian populations of salamanders and frogs. So no more trout stocking in the National Park highland lakes.
  17. This is unbelievable, hopefully it doesn't take hold in this country. http://www.cbc.ca/thisisthat/blog/2013/09/03/to-ensure-every-child-wins-ontario-athletic-association-removes-ball-from-soccer/index.html Should've saved this for April 1.
  18. Sorry to hear this, my condolences also to you and the family.
  19. Tying on some spooks, hooking up the boat, getting ready to head for the Kings in about 20 minutes...just kidding. But dang, why can't I get lucky some day and find myself in the middle of a big bass topwater bite in the middle of the day?
  20. They are a fall spawner. Under the right conditions they can become over populated and become stunted. Some of the alpine lakes and creeks in Washington state were, and probably still are, over populated with them.
  21. Tacklecenter.com is running a 40% off sale right now. Not on all their inventory, but on Zoom, War Eagle (spinner baits, buzz baits, jigs), Bomber cranks and some other brands. They have a great selection of Zoom plastics and at 40% off you're looking at most Zoom bags being under $3.00. I have no association with them, just passing it on as there are some real deals on good stuff. They are an Arkansas based company BTW. http://www.tacklecenter.com/
  22. Thanks for the info Merc, I'll have to give that slip sinker/jig combo a try.
  23. Sky diving scorpions, not good.
  24. I'm curious as to why you're using the slip sinker - get the jig to the bottom faster? As a noise maker?
