  1. I actually think it was Pre BHO, but it never went anywhere. But who knows what we will be taxed on next year to pay for all of the debt. This smells like politics, not fish.......
  2. I have seen gold bead versions of a pattern work better on clear sunny days while the copper works best on cloudy or low light. I really don't know why but that is my observations. Milky green rivers produce better with copper, clear water with gold.
  3. Just because I called the poachers worthless cowards, I was not insinuating that they were politicians too.
  4. Well you should, MO is a CCW state now and it is legal. From what I see on here, all of the accesses are full of drunken giggers. I for one feel safer carrying something, although most of the places I go, I only run across a few rude city slickers every now and then.
  5. For Christs Sakes Man, Don't you carry a gun while fishing?
  6. Man up buddy, fish cops only solve crimes, citizens prevent them! If you see a violation, confront them. They are the worthless cowards and will usually cut and run.
  7. I hate that fishy taste in my mouth most of the time. Better to catch and release and catch again on most small streams. Not to mention again that most bass are infested with the worms of a transitional fluke where the heron is a passer on of the parasite.
  8. Try duck hunting, you can watch the Mergansers catch fish. Last Sat, I sit and watched my decoys ice in, about a 1/2 inch of it in 3 hours. Not once did I think about fishing or think I was cold. I kept wiggling the kayak to keep from freezing in though.
  9. If the gun is an antique, it may be worth more if you don't clean it up. Nowadays, a horse for 3 guns must have been a good trade. Most good horses can be had for the price of a bale of hay this time of year.
  10. Gigging has been a problem as long as I can remember around where I live. Locals used to use smallies as a big target to practice on as the eyes show up so well. Thank god the MDC started stocking Otters on the Castor River and eliminated the problem with the gigged Smallies. I for one am for a NO CREEL on smallies anywhere in the state. They taste like fish and are full of worms from all of the herons we saved when we banned DDT and made the herons a protected species.
  11. After a small time off, I am back. Alot has happened this year, but now it is cold and the computer desk is warm... Looks like things have been dull around here, no politics, a few smallie issues, poachers, and a few new posters. Time to crank it up and get Phil some attention.
  12. Having used beads for flies longer than most on here have been tying, gold, and copper are most productive in my fly boxes. I started tying beads with gold bead chain beads, split and pinched on a hook, back in the early 90's. Then, gold and copper solid beads became available and I started using them. I never use silver and seldom use black. There have been advances in the colors of beads, most of my old brass and copper beads turned black and I used them for bodies. The new stuff holds color very well.
  13. I may take you up on that, it's a 6 hr drive but ducks are out here and all is froze up. Looks like alot of fun.
  14. Spare the rod, spoil the child. Spanking works. Local schools still have corporal punishment if parents consent. There is a difference between a drunken beating and a sound spanking. Love and attention works too, but don't hesitate to spank and your kids will turn out fine.
  15. I have used Watershed and it works. I also dope them up with Orvis Hyflote, once stated to be able to float a lug nut. Most dry flies I tye and fish now either use CDC or Foam to float them. I still tye some dry hackle flies and I try to use the best hackle. When they get slimed, I retire them and tie on another.
  16. Why don't you donate them to the troops or an organization that would use them to promote flyfishing?
  17. Which one, Proud American or I voted for the other guy? One in the same. Are you a Proud American today if you voted for the current POTUS? If so, WHY?
  18. ???? I thought you did not read stuff like this!
  19. I am confused Thom, are you not happy with the present state of the Union. Things not working out like you planned. What made it political this time? Why attack me or say I attacked someone else? Ever think that maybe you are jumping to conclusions too fast? I stated Wonderful, meaning, next time I go there I will have net access if I need it. I am technologically inclined and carry a laptop, pda, cell phone, digital camera, etc every time I go. I do prefer to get away sometimes and rough it also. Most camping trips are primitive since the electric sites are reserved months ahead and I can't make that kind of plans with my busy WORK schedule. There are no satellites in my tent, or electric for that matter. Looking at the post, my only fault was forgetting to put the second sentence in a different paragraph.
  20. WI FI at the lodge, wonderful. Now if you could just get a cell signal, you could be harrassed by all of the new electronic gadgets that you try to get away from while camping and enjoying the outdoors. Whatever happened to roughing it?
  21. Tubes are ok for lakes and ponds, but would be pretty worthless in most streams and rivers in MO. You would be dragging and walking alot. Plus, I would rather be above the snakes instead of down in a tube staring them in the eye.
  22. Yeah!!! I think admin should restrict any comments on the Missouri Department of Conservation too, causes too much controversy. But, in a way, they are a government entity, so politics must be involved, so they must already be banned.
  23. Lt Governor Blasts Militia Report.
  24. Everytime enforcement comes up, everyone thinks we have enough agents. Yet you see and hear many complaints about habitual violations. The poachers steal from us, game belongs to everyone in the state, laws are in place to regulate it. Agents seem to concentrate on deer and turkeys, but fishing violations happen all of the time. There are more streams in MO than can be covered by the limited number of agents. Most county's have only one agent at best, alot of territory to cover. Most remote locations lack cell phone service, so calling in a violation in action is hard to do. I have and do report violations every year while on the stream. Most have been investigated, few have ever amounted to anything. I do know of a few confirmed catches, one at Montauk and another on Norfork Tailwaters. The local agents just happened to be close at the time of the report, not 60 miles away on the other side of the county or out of town on a meeting.
