Flicker shads are great but if u are wanting to get deep they will only dive to about 15ft so u will need a snap weight or I would suggest lead core line....The taildancers are a great bait also and they will dive fairly deep on their own depending on the size of TD u get....ReefRunners are great baits and the biggest size RR will dive to 28ft....They are tricky to tune but well worth the trouble.
Martin I heard a story of a guy that got caught with a short walleye at Holiday Island and it cost him $250....A guy could buy several cranks with $250!
I guess experienced "boarders" don't need them they can just tell how the board is riding in the water but the tattle flag sure helps me.......Last trip out I was with a friend and he didn't have his tattle boards with him so we were using "standard" boards and we drug 3 small fish long distances without realizing we had fish.
There is a tighter spring u can get...C-73 is the number on Ace Hardware.com...and I have them but they were so tight that small fish wouldn't pull the flag down....So I put the lighter ones back on but the 800 don't pull them back anyways....
B/B means Bottom Bouncer......I think boards cost around $30 for a pair and about $20 for the "tattle flag" upgrade.....so $50 all together for two boards.....
I would suggest adding "tattle flags" to your boards....it will save u from dragging small fish for long distances....And don't forget the Golden Rule when using boards and u have a fish on....Don't just let the line go after u have unhooked your board,u will get slack in your line and u run a very high risk of loosing the fish.
I've saw them catch sharks on Fly rods....never had heard of walleye fishing with a fly...I've got weighted line buts its called Lead Core!....Good luck.
Did they mentioned at the weigh-in about the angler David Young getting shot at while fishing yesterday??..........On the news last night they had a segment about the incident.....Pretty scary he said water was blowing up around the boat as shots were fired........
A Lab chewed the ducer wire for my LCX-110 and I spliced the wires back together and it worked as usual......I did end up getting a new one but the splice allowed me to get on the water and not have to wait for a new one...........
