  1. Lilley has a really nice shop with anything you could possibly need for trout fishing. He'll get you setup to catch plenty of trout. If the water is off you should be able to just sit on the dock and catch all the fish you want. The only issue with using bait is the fish usually swallow the hook. If you plan to catch and release fish, I'd advise you to get a boat and head up river with some jerkbaits and some 1/8oz jigs, especially if the water is running.
  2. The closest thing to fishing that I did today was pour weights for snagging and catfishing. Man I can't wait for the weather to break and things to thaw out so I can go wet a line!
  3. Love watching your videos. Man I want to get down there so bad it hurts! This weather is making me stir crazy!
  4. You could put in at the LoZ State Park Marina by the Highway 7 bridge. Racetrack Hollow is about a 6-6.5 mile from there. It's not cheap to put in there though ($5 launch, $5 parking, $5 loading). Otherwise the only other thing I know to do is put in at PB#2 and run about 13 miles to Racetrack Hollow.
  5. Hope Phil doesn't mind me posting a reference to another forum. Have you checked out crappie.com in the Missouri section? There's a lot of LoZ guys that do nothing but crappie fish over there. I also crappie fished New Years eve after the storms, but was on the Osage River near the MariOsa access. I boated 25 in about an hour and a half right before dark. It was on fire! Went back the next weekend and Bagnell had been generating and the water was murky and caught 0!
  6. Cool. I was just curious. I may try one of Lilley's tournaments out this year if I fish any. I've never done a trout tourney down there before but it sounds exciting.
  7. What's up with the Boswell and R.A.W. tournaments? Lilley doesn't have these two listed and I couldn't find any information about them online. Is these tournaments for certain people or something?
  8. Well the water was really murky and shut the crappie down. I marked a ton of shad at the mouth of the Maries and I might go back with the cattin gear and try some cut shad there. Ive seen some nice blues swimming below the shad in the past when they were thick.
  9. No I didn't. I'm going to fish up there again this weekend and I may run up there and see what it's like. The water is the lowest I've ever seen it in the past few years.
  10. Caught 25 crappie from 4-5:30 New Years Eve after the storms blew through. It was nice not having to be bundled up to go out fishing. Fish were 5' deep in 13 foot of water near brush. Caught fish on all colored jigs, but black/chart on a 1/16oz head was probably the overall best by just a bit. I started out bass fishing with a white/chart crankbait, but it was slow.
  11. Were you guys hitting docks on the Niangua arm? I'm thinking about running up later this week, but trying the Glaize arm since it's the closest to me.
  12. Awesome report and looks like he runs a heckuva fishing boat as well! I've fished on the big rivers for catfish out of a couple 2472 SeaArks and they were fine pieces of equipment.

    Got A Doe

Now the Big Grin won't starve this winter.
  14. Buddy and I fished the Niangua arm just outside of Camdenton Saturday and caught 15 keepers and had 5 shorts. We had best luck with chart/white slab busters on 1/32oz jigs and hopping them over brush piles on a bluff bank in 30-40' of water. Right before we quit, we started catching them pretty fast right on the bank of the bluff with the brush piles. Caught a few keepers off one dock that sat over 20' of water with brushpiles under it. The rest of the docks were pretty dead that we fished, but there wasn't any brush around them either.
  15. I'm still thinking about trying to come down. The girlfriend wants to see some of the xmas lights that are setup as do I. It will be hard to not want to fish the whole time I'm down there though since I only make it down a few times a year. I will know for sure around the middle of next month probably.
  16. Nice fish. Two of us fished the MariOsa Wednesday from 12-4 and only got one hybrid, one white, and 8-10 small blacks. All of the fish were caught at the mouth of the Maries to just above the bridge. Pretty slow fishing for us. Best bait was a white/chartreuse bomber crankbait.
  17. I seen 9 deer the first morning and that was it all weekend. On Monday, I popped a big doe with the .243. Dad's got two does and my girlfriends dad has gotten three does and a buck so far this season. I'm hunting for bone the rest of rifle season. They are playing hard to see for me though.

    Good Gigging

I think we were off the water by 11 and 11:30 each night. We only seen one little smallmouth as far as I know of. He down in some rock piles ina bout 5' of water. When we got back and got fish cleaned, we fried up a few batches of them fresh and man were they delicious! My personal preference is to gig in the winter when it get darks earlier and the cold weather really clears the water up. Right now it makes for some really late nights but the fun is well worth the loss of sleep.
  19. Killed 44 Friday night and 55 on Saturday near Vienna. Leaves are falling which makes it a bit tougher due to clogging my jet up often and making the water a bit dingy. I am running two 400w metal halide lights this year and the extra brightness helped us see a bit deeper than if we just had halogens like before.
  20. How cruel! LOL I still love the expressions I get when running over the shallow flat near Short Creek while everybody else is out in the channel.
  21. Only caught a few fish but two were decent. Buddy hhad a 17" chunk ke tucky and I had my PB smallmouth. They were both about three pounds just guessing.
  22. We fished a tournament out of Rollins Ferry this weekend and the guys that won it ran all the way to 42 and 63 and caught a 12 pound five fish sack. I've never fished that area, but gig a lot of suckers there in the fall/winter when the water clears up really well. Looks like I should be rod and reel fishing there during the day as well.
  23. What public grounds are you hunting? I can pull up a topo and scout the area and see if we can find you some good funnels to set up on.
  24. That place has went down hill so much the past four years. My girlfriend and I used to make probalby 10-20 trips a year down there. I went opening day this year and that was it. The fishing is the worst I can remember and it costs more to park than ever as well so they can have it. I'll spend the money and drive to Taneycomo to trout fish anymore.
  25. Glad to hear the fishing is still doing good. I've been thinking really hard about making a run back down before bow season season starts up. Once that gets here, I pretty much eat, sleep , and breath bowhunting till after gun season is over with. I had the most fun fishing down there this past June than I ever had before.
