  1. Let's see -- new cars, $70 haircuts, $50 baits, fresh boats, etc. Oh wait -- LOZ. I guess I can see that.
  2. Don't think I didn't see the can of spray paint in your canoe. That stuff will kill you, man! Or was it Aquanet?
  3. Gawd -- I need to get into the tackle business! Drs7588 -- If you love your son -- don't go down this path
  4. Talk to me about the snow peas. One of our favorites, but I didn't even try thinking inside the hoops only gave me room for low stuff.
  5. Parts of my veggie garden are still plugging along under the hoops. Ended up doing two beds that way (plastic over 1/2" bent pvc), and laid my cold frame over a third bed. Still getting lettuce, radishes, beets (too many), and carrots. Started spinach too late. Cabbages are getting some decent size, but about half of them are pretty eaten up by cabbage worms. Biggest problem is getting out there to water since it's dark when I leave and when I come home from work. I haven't been out there to see what these temps in the teens have done to things in the last few days. This has been a lot of fun extending the year like this. Fresh veggies in December is a new one for me. The natural thing to do now is get stuff outside earlier next spring.
  6. Naw -- only five available. Look up at the top of this page. Those stars are yours!
  7. Wrench, I'm rating this thread 5 stars based on your response. Good work, my friend.
  8. Man -- that's really something. I can't imagine what those firefighters must be up against. It was already tougher because of the terrain, now with colder weather and those high winds. Tried to get a look at the perimeter yesterday, but the site wasn't responding. I need to look today and see if I can get my head around where it is now.

    Mizzou Bball

Anybody keeping score on how many Mizzwho b-ball players have brought disgrace to the program and the state? It's even worse than the football mess for sure, but maybe not as bad as the Cardinals steroid scandals that basically ruined baseball. I won't even go into the crooked politics, mafia activity, the worst crime in the country, transfer to SEC, the support for slavery or the Lawrence massacre. What a cesspool!
  10. Cougar, mountain lion, puma, panther, polecat -- whatever you wanna call it -- with a sheet over it.
  11. I went to a Division II school too, but it was NAIA Same thing there though -- classes taught by real live teachers that were always accessible. If there was any research going on, it was mostly behind the scenes. I did help on some prairie research and restoration, bird banding, etc -- so I guess I was part of it in a small way. Wouldn't trade any of that for anything either. They were and are still very smart financially, and have kept a 150 year old campus pristine without public help. Some of the stuff I see go on at the big schools just looks wasteful or over the top.

    Barred Owl

    Nice shot Ronnie
  13. Yeah -- don't forget about K-State. National title hunt and Heisman frontrunner. They sure lost a ton of momentum after that pitiful performance, but there's a biggun coming Saturday. The Chiefs are beyond embarrassing. When they did that end zone dance a couple weeks ago and drew a penalty, I about puked. But heck -- I don't want to hijack a thread about the Tigers woes. Carry on.
  14. You might be getting it confused with fictional history.
  15. Yeah Chief -- it's a pretty well-known genre. Google it.
  16. I'm with you on that, Mitch. Good movie, but pretty grim. Just got Woe to Live On -- the one about the KS/MO fighting during the Civil War. Sposta be pretty violent and gritty, but I'm more interested in some good historical fiction.
  17. I think a call the to president of the Homes Association is in order.
  18. I was just doing some cyphering, and it turns out if the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of all the Chiefs games this season didn't count, we'd still suck.
  19. I've seen the damage a feral hog can do. If it was my property, I'd want to keep it out--especially if I had put the time, money and effort into a bee hive like you have, JD. I don't think I'd just sit by and let it happen. But...JD the signature line is kinda cooky, and doesn't really add to the reasoned discussion of stuff around here. Just kinda draws the worst out. But hey, it's your signature line.
  20. I would expect a shot of a moving animal taken on a low-quality camera at night using a little, in-camera flash would look pretty much like what we see in the picture. I don't think MDC would call it confirmed if they hadn't gotten pretty comfortable with the entire situation, not just the photograph. Good points Al and Wayne.
  21. That picture is so obviously faked. Look how fuzzy it is, and there's a dang wheel barrow in the back.
  22. Man, if there's something nastier than fecal material, I wanna know about it. The sooner the better. I already feel like I'll need a Haz-Mat suit before I can even get close to my little crick again.
