Yeah, they are a problem. They're everywhere around here. The city required the developers to give each lot a tree, and that's what we all got. We took ours out several years back. There are whole undeveloped areas around here that appear to be nothing but pears now.

What a difference a day makes! We've got Callery Pears all through the neighborhood in bloom today. Red and white buds here are about to pop.

I would let the early, skinny ones go. With two years in the ground you should be getting some good ones soon. Asparagus is one of those things that makes spring exciting. I used to love having a little asparagus patch, but trees grew and there just wasn't the sunshine it needed. That's a problem with my whole yard, which is a bummer.

Kayak a pain, or canoe? One of the reasons I haven't gone the kayak route is the weight. Pretty easy to get my canoe on top of my Highlander. That's my vehicle and watercraft gotta work with it, not the other way around.
