    What's Cooking?

I know all three, but I will let John answer you.
  2. Man, we all give you "likes" because we like your photos! I guess the "like spot could be changed to a quarter sign" then we could all tag each other and see how many quarters we could get. Fish for quarters instead of "likes". @Flysmallie @Flysmallie @Flysmallie
  3. I kind of remember a spot on your Iweejun trip, maybe the hot spot in Missouri when I shared my Top Secret near me? Damnit, I hate getting old!
  4. @ness I know it was in Colorado or Missouri 🤣🤣
  5. The Flybrary Project | Have One? Leave One. Need One? Take One. This is one I have read about. A bit different from the one you posted. I have heard of this one also. Ther are some Ozarks flyfishers on here that I am sure know more about the one you mentioned.
  6. Yea but you let it slip. Then I forgot where you said it was so your secret is still safe!
  7. Ah no just tired of all the negativity lately. My glass is half full.
  8. That would be a no and kind of. Although it may not impress any of you and I don't care but here are some things. Or should I even share? You all would just think it is stupid and trash a guy because it isn't something you would do .
  9. Just happens sometimes. Luck happens. Don't post the zero hunts much.

    What's Cooking?

Nothing was implied as a dig to anyone at all here and if you took it that way, I am sorry. What I was talking about can be as simple as planting lettuce seed in a flower pot. There are things that take a few seconds to reap rewards. I have the means to rely on stores and such easy but enjoy what I can do for myself. Again, to get worked up on what you may have thought I was implying was not needed. Congrats for doing such a fine job and being recognized for doing so. Makes a guy or gal feel wanted and needed. We need a boost like that from time to time.
  11. Gadwall are stinkin because of the way they work. Nortorius for landing wide or a couple passes and gone. Yes like to eat to them. So easy to just pluck and single breast then fillet the sides off of. Fatty skin equals flavor.
  12. Or perfect breasts! Stinkin gadwall too.
  13. FYI no fishing in this episode but still conservation related and a good watch.

    What's Cooking?

This above and other things as in how many outdoor goals have you set for yourself and followed through? Just how much can you do in a lifetime. How much do you do for yourself instead of relying on others kind of stuff? Heck yes, we need to go to store for things. Why not do more for yourself? Take you for example. Grow your own tobacco, brew your own whisky . Heck we could do more here. Its gratifying to DIY. Besides, some critters out there aren't really worth the trouble unless I'm broke and on the verge of starvation. Wild Turkey?....no thanks. Ducks & Geese?.....hell anything soaked/marinated and prepped in that fashion is gonna be tasty and make a fine turd....even a crow or buzzard would do. I guarantee if you ruin a wild turkey, it is your fault. That or someone else has and you ate it. Ducks and geese? I sure watched you eat goose fajitas and went back for more. Nothing soaked or marinated there. I can sear a duck breast on coals with just a bit of salt and make you want more. Did you ruin some or did someone else ruin it for you? I did not post this to pick on anyone just a bit of food for thought and more possible outdoor time. We are losing hunters every year. Why not interest a new hunter and let them reap the rewards? Just since you don't seem to like some if not all wild game why be little those who like to eat it?
  15. I am having a hard time here wondering why all you prefect guys are doing all this bashing? Do you realize there are some in this world not so perfect as you? Do you know most of the readers of the conservationist magazine have neither hunted of fished? We all started somewhere, right? Can you remember your first attempts at tying flies? Were you perfect? Did this guy proclaim to be an expert or share his sport with others? I can tell you my first attempt at tying. Winter of 75 moved to Missouri. Spent first Christmas in an old house with a trailer attached and got a fly-tying kit. I proceeded to read instructions and tie away. To me it was beautiful looking back it was a mess. Did not even have a fly rod. Went to the little pond on the place and threw out sticks and rocks to break a hole in the ice in the middle. Took me awhile to get the split shotted fly into that hole and lost some flies getting it there. I actually caught bluegill and green sunfish doing that. I still have that vice to this day. That has been a long time ago and I am still not perfect or claim to be. I bet the conservation mag will take stories from anyone here. So, if you want get one written and submit! You all sometimes remind me of a bunch of juvenile jake turkeys. One gets shot and another begins to jump on him. Soon the others join in and trample the dead bird not thinking about anything else . I do jest with my friends here but not going to get into the jake mentality.

    What's Cooking?

Todays meal, Yea, yea, yea I know squirrel again? Yes definitely. I still have a hard time figuring out why some of you that are able do not go out and do more of your part in the food chain other than going to the grocery store? Taking more into your hands other than slapping meat on the stove or grill. I do realize because of health or lacking knowledge can keep some from doing this. You all are outdoorsmen here, right? I know many of you here. Wonder who has done the most variety of outdoor opportunities on this forum? Young squirrel is as tender as chicken. I shot one this morning and thawed four others. The master of the gravy did the honors of that as I did the frying. There are two new things in the photo. One never done and one seldom done. @budman This one is for you and thanks for the tip. We like
  17. Thanks John, There are so many places they could be helped too. Culverts on roads can also prevent migration. As you and others know we are about natives in their respective ranges. Places they need help in those ranges. Introduced species can go as far as I am concerned too. So easy to loose purity. Some could care less but once it is gone it is gone!
  18. All I can tell you is what I was told by a guy who has been there years And he has a used one. I do know I'm sure they want to sell you a newer one. Again good luck on your quest.
  19. Talked to Doug, There is some in what he calls the"B" pile. Right now redneck Is behind 1600 blinds. So there is outfitters calling for anything they can get. If they priced you blinds out of the B pile then they are going at the demand rate. He said get on a list or wait for spring rollbacks on B blinds. Said if you are patent there are good deals coming. I actually thought about this at one point. Good luck in your quest. Good made blinds are pretty cushy.
  20. Buddy Said there was some 4 to 5 hundred buck ones there. Did you ask for used ones? I will ask him again.
  21. Dutch, Lamar is not too far a drive for you. Redneck blinds now have sales of trade in blinds and blems that I have herd are very, very reasonable compaired to retail price. I have a good friend that works there and he even has bought one.
