Good grief! I have caught them still spawning on the last of May my birthday. If I started my tomatoes as early as Ness they would be four foot tall and producing fruit already before planting. If mine freeze I will just raid the gardens in Nessberg and Grizvegas, BilletHead

More garden straightening up, I had some horseradish that got started in the wrong place. A few short years back I started some in one of our tubs. The roots grew out the bottom holes and into the ground. Broke some off when I dug the roots out of the tub. Fast forward to last season. The crazy things got big dwarfing the tubs and shading what i was growing in them, I dug one up last year and made fresh horseradish. So today I got to try to eradicate them. They are invasive and i will have more to take care of. I could spray but think I will let them go a few more years until they become a pain again. I washed what I got out. Will take some and process and the other will go someplace else in the yard, BilletHead

If it is you may want to get your eyes checked, I am kind of worried about your eyesight. Third Some bucket biologist not knowing what he was doing introduced Black Bass to Africa just like some not so smart people did carp to the states. Tied a couple more this morning after trying them out Monday at a pond, Landed three, three more came unbuttoned and then snapped one off on the hook set. It swam off with one of the first ones I tied up. They work and look good in the water. The stinkin bass landed were not too big but felt good after the long winter. I need to tie up two more just because you get minnows by the dozen, BilletHead

I was hoping that too but they have been running a bunch down there except for a couple days during the run off of those little streams. Bear creek, cedar creek and even tiny brush creek. I give up! Blackberries have to go. I am tired of fighting the Japanese beetles. Yes I can spray them at the right time to help but that doesn't help the bee population. Once the berries ae formed and ripening the beetles are on them big time chowing down. Berries are hard to wash in all those little cracks. I talked with the extension agent for our county. She said unfortunately we have not even seen the peak of the infestation in our part of the country. She said once the peak happens and not sure what year it will be they will stabilize but we will always have them. I began to go crazy on the patch. I realize there will be roots take hold in the future and I will take care of them a they appear down the road. I had three rows about twelve foot long. There is one left and it has been trimmed now to two foot tall. BilletHead Jr. wants some to plant in his backyard in Springfield. He had better get them quick before I finish them up. When pulling I had canes that measured 13 foot long where I had trained them to go up and then back into the ground to producing a new plant. When I pulled some of these canes I yanked root systems up to 10 foot long. Some of these roots were as big around as a golf ball, I know what a waste. What do I replace here? i asked the extension agent. She said maybe blueberries. Generally they are harvested before the beetles make their outing but the beetles will still skeletonize the leaves thus you will still have to spray. I may replace with another gooseberry patch. So far knock on wood we have never had a problem yet with beetles on them , BilletHead
