    What's Cooking?

Depending on how easy or hard you want to make it. Last few we have tried used dried assorted chilies. Roast and rehydrate. Make a mole which can get complicated but well worth it. On a few of the dishes we have made there always seems to be extra sauce. We use that sauce to coat tortillas, fill with meat and cheese. Layer in a sheet pan more sauce and cheese and bake. Everyone we liked but cannot say we have found a favorite. Looking for a green or red sauce? BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Trying to Sous Vide some wild turkey. The Mrs. took the breast side made it round and tucked in one end. Looked like a little roast. Some S&P and a couple rosemary sprigs into the bag and sealed, This was slid into a 140 degree water bath. While this was cooking bread was dried for dressing. All we had was a loaf of English muffin bread so this is what the Mrs. used. Potatoes were prepped. Mashed potatoes but left the skins on the taters. So half hour to go on meat dressing in oven and potatoes getting smashed. Made some gravy out of chicken stock. Cook time 2.5 hours complete out came the meat to be sliced, A nice pink blush to the meat. It was then plated up with some whole cranberry sauce, Great meal and more thunder chicken will be cooked this way. Easy peasy, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

So with all this granola talk a new batch was made today, Mixed and ready for the oven, The uncooked goodies. This time a bag of dried cherries, dried blueberries were put in as was dried cranberries, Out of the oven to cool a bit, Goodies added and mixed, Pat has made so much over the last few years she know just throws it together without looking at the recipe anymore. I am going to look up a binding agent. Would like to make some bars for on the go, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Sounds good but I am still trying to get the taste for avocado appreciated. Will work on that. Pat had a friend she worked with that would bring in a half sliced. She would just put on some S&P and eat it. BilletHead
  6. Probably because of the unscrupulous cheater. I bet if the winning was looked over closely there was a plug cut out and sinkers loaded in then plugged before the weigh in. What would a limit of cabbage look like I wonder? . But we are all glad you will be contributing to the gardening thread Wrench. Anybody that can overhaul an Evinrude can grow amazing vegetables I bet, BilletHead
  7. Nice beans kids! Wonder @fishinwrench how his cabbage is doing? BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

A couple of meals, Seeing RPS and his pizzas made me think I would share mast Wednesdays pie, rectangle pie. Had Italian sausage, onion, some of our dehydrated tomatoes rehydrated. Some jalapenos and three cheeses. Mozzarella, Monterey jack and asiago. Yes frozen crust. Today it was all about the salad. Ignore the grilled duck. Threw in some blueberries, diced pear and native pecans, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

What's not cooking, I know this probably doesn't belong here and more like in the funny stuff thread. This is just sad IMO. 😣. How in the world can the import of this from Egypt be cheaper than homegrown ? Do you all reckon they are raised in nasty lagoons like farm raised shrimp in South East Asia? Get yours today at Food For Less. I know of several packages at the Joplin location, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Nice John! Did the eggs taste like Missouri scratch gain fed eggs or Maryland scratch grains? Conservative or liberal taste? We had Williams bacon, Walmart over easy eggs with English muffins. BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

No Fig harvest last year. The possums and coons decided they like them too. May have to do some predator control. Sadie just doesn't care about them anymore so it will be my job instead of hers. BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Pat buys those big bags of dried cranberries (Craisins ) at Sam's Club. Also if you decide to make a bunch get your whole oats there also. Have any of you put a few dried cranberries in a salad? That is a good use for them too. Ronnie, I know you like to smoke meats etc. We get raw almonds and soak in saltwater. Put in smoker and smoke awhile. Dry in oven or dehydrator. Great snacking.
