  3. Got my online edition to Southern trout magazine by e-mail. Went to flipping through the pages and to my chagrin when I got to pages 36/37 I recognized the fish! This story goes back to last Fall when gathering at Bennett springs where like minded flyfishermen , reps with their goods showed up and we got to view the flyfishing film tour. There were fly tiers and a painter with her watercolors. Pat and I had a good visit with her and talked fish. Pat told her about our trip just a month or two before and about the fish we caught and asked if she had ever seen a tiger trout. I showed her the picture on my phone. She asked if she could paint it, Well sure if you would like and when getting home after that weekend I sent the picture via e-mail. Best thing about this is I now have that watercolor in my possession , http://www.southerntrout.com/ozark-edition Read the edition and view the picture if you would like. Just thought I would share, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Good stuff going on by you guys today! Got the ribeye in the sous vide cooker with some rosemary and thyme from the garden plus some wild foraged garlic. An hour at 129 degrees. Got it pulled and over charcoal and white oak splits for a quick sear, As i was doing this the Mrs was boiling sweet corn from the neighbor/farmers field. Prepping a baked potato . Cukes from the garden in with onions too. Split the steak and the potato. A man can just eat so much , BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

A nice easy rain here in BilletHeadVille this morning. Good day for other duties like a batch of lemon rosemary shortbread cookies, While that was going on I put on a batch of chipotle jerky into the smoker, It will be smoked for awhile then finished in the dehydrator. A nice ribeye is in the vac bag with rosemary and thyme from the garden with some foraged wild garlic. In the fridge resting right now but a bit later it will be in the sous vide cooker. Then seared over coals with oak splits, BilletHead

  13. I like this post Tho1mas buddy, good one! Mrs. BilletHead was crawling around under the tomato plant jungle canopy a few minutes ago. Says first thing in the Am she is going to pick our first tomato, the one I posted in our last instalment on here. Should of planted a couple little piggys in the bed too. The bacon would be ready to harvest , BilletHead

  15. Out before the sun rose this morning to water and preen the garden. Jealous of you all that have been getting good rains. We have been missing the good ones. Had to literally crawl between tubs and sit on my rear to trim lower leaves that are getting that dreaded yellow and brown wilt. Keeping them trimmed off helps it from spreading some. A sharp knife slices them right off. From above I cant reach them or see what is going on in the plants. Well this is what I seen on a couple. On one plant I decided to count just what I could see from the bottom, Not a very good photo but I counted 48. This is crazy stupid. Never have we had such a crop. I really think the self watering tubs are the reason. The raised long bed is doing alright but nothing like this. Our cukes are really filling the leaning cattle panel trellis. I sit on the side daily and train vines in and out trying to keep tidy. I know soon that will be hard to keep up with. The variety we planted are burpless and pick four to five inches long. I snack right there on the rail in the shade and the few we are getting never make it to the house. Soon that will change and everyone in the neighborhood plus where the Mrs. works will be eating them, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Presto! The BilletHead made Pesto 😁., You know I am bored when I look for something to do. Ran across an article where you can use garlic scapes for making a pesto. Got on the four wheeler and buzzed up the road checking the wild garlic crop. Scapes had got big, starting to bloom and woody. Crap back to the house and onto the laptop. Then thought I would use our garlic chives which there are many options on the web. Then I ran across one where basil is the main theme with some roasted garlic. Not having all of the exact stuff called for it would be a wing and a prayer job. So out to the garden to pick four packed cups of a mix of purple and green leaf basil. Then into the freezer to dip into my bag of roasted wild garlic. I did a bunch and mashed it into a zip loc to be dipped out as needed. No pine nuts in the house but I had just smoked a batch of almonds. Olive oil and S&P too. What No Parmesan cheese either? Well I will then use some asiago cheese. With everything prepped into the food processor it went. A spin up and a peek, Add more olive oil and spin again. When happy with the consistency I gave it the taste test. GOOOOD Stuff. Now if I had some good crusty bread. Oh well I will ask the Mrs. to pick that up on the way home. Bet I get a big old sloppy kiss for this. May even just have to make up some pasta and put a little in it. AND I even cleaned up my mess and done the dishes . Bonus points, BilletHead
  21. Yep android for me.
  22. He is a tying machine! BilletHead
  23. I have got junk four times myself. Every time different. Never on the laptop always on the phone. One even said it would take over and wipe out my phone. Each time it hangs up and I cannot shut it down. Even restarted my phone several times. Then as mysterious as it showed up it vanishes. , Like this one an I never clicked on anything to get it, BilletHead
  24. I would cry, What I have is what I have. My funds are limited and as I get older I value what I have and try to treat it well. Try to take care of what you have and you will be ahead in the long run! BilletHead
  25. Thanks again for the reminder Wrench!, The Jet got a new one this Spring (3years) and the prop will get one next Spring. I may argue with you on other things but this I will not. Over and over you have pounded this in our heads. Proof from you, BilletHead
