I am not into them either. They are a good bonus bycatch if nothing else is biting. Fun to stalk and target with a fly rod or bow. BilletHead -

MoCarp, Just glad you are posting here where the Carp fishing is supposed to be and not clogging up general fishing and conservation issues. Might be good if you can get Phil to give you your one place like non native invasive species fishing. 400 bucks a pop to fly fish for them. I I will dig you a pond and only charge you 100 bucks a pop. I will even stock it for you. Better yet I will let the ducks eat carp eggs and poop out viable eggs to hatch. Still only charge you 100 bucks a pop until you get a fishable population to catch and release. I will throw in a photo op and pictures to take home ! Actually This may be a better business venture for you. Right up your alley. Don't let wrench get under your nerves. He can sometimes get a bit jealous. He does about me and my Hybrid fishing . Of course I get that way with his stinkin green bass fishing. There is a show about carp. It was and is called bottom feeders. I doubt Wrench cares about shore fishermen. If they stop fishing his lake he will service wake boats and jet skis . BilletHead -
Oh you are on my list for sure but not on my OA list, BilletHead

In the dark ages when Mrs. BilletHead and I got married we ate very little. She could not cook . So mostly grilled cheese using Velveeta and a lot of newlywed love . I remember the first meal she cooked for my parents. It was called fried chicken. What was supposed to be gravy had the consistency of pudding /concrete mixture. You could stand anything in it straight up and it would not fall over. BilletHead

The BilletHead version of the Shuttlecock, a step by step.
BilletHead replied to BilletHead's topic in Fly Recipes
Thanks for the kind words everyone. My pleasure doing this Step by Step. Lancer, I don't believe there is a fish in freshwater that can pull the rattle off of this fly. BilletHead -
You can pick some up when you get your fish arrows . I can legally gift a limit of squash to you, BilletHead

So let me ask you a question, Who makes that call on what is " naturalized" ? How many years? Your common carp you call naturalized because they have been here for over 140 years? So when does the other invasive new species of carp and large mouth bass that have been introduced out of their native range become naturalized? in 140 years or less ? Who makes that call? I guess if we wait long enough anything can be OK to our ecosystem? BilletHead

MoCarp said, "so you ARE technically a supporter of non-native invasive fish in Missouri.....don't hate on me its the ICNU " Again you are twisting things. I said I prefer to catch fish in their respective native areas when I can travel. I am making the best of what we have here in Missouri. Trout are not native but I would not call them invasive. They have specific things they need to survive. Tail waters and Springs here in Missouri. Unlike Carp which you say can adapt and live about anywhere. MoCarp said, "we all knew you are a Bfer..its why all the hate....its ok..you'll still be able to Bf in places..just not in SOME places..and that REALLY whizzes you guys off...I am sure when they put the trophy regs in Taney a like number of people got salty too...but in time you will be ok with any new carp regs too.... " Hate? That is a strong word and I never said hate. Another thing you are twisting. I said I do not dislike carp, I dislike what they do being invasive. Wizzes who off? Who are you speaking about? I gave up bowfishing many moons ago. Too much of a mess. I unlike all you lump in one category disposed of my fish. Never shoot and release. I actually ate the grass carp, they are very good. Had a needy family that would take some. The rest went to fertilizer. Now if a guy wants to bow fish I am all for it. I can see native fish in a limit to protect the species. As for carp take all you want. BilletHead

I will shoot few ducks for you JD, Catch a few of those nice fish for me buddy. BilletHead

Let me know when you are ready for arrows. Leave a few for fly fishermen and chummers. Selective harvest. Just thought of another place I belong. I actually think it has been the best place to belong, OAF! and I have the stickers to prove it! Go team OAF! BilletHead

Yes taken legally with no spotlight involved, wait ! Do I need a squash tag or license? Am I over the limit? Do they meet the minimum length? Someone refer me to the Squash harvesting pamphlet. There was road hunting involved but I did get off the road to catch them. is that OK ? BilletHead

Nice! I am glad you are keeping this along the line of an organization. We must be careful not to hijack and change or manipulate the thread. I know I m going to be more careful doing this. Do you need and bowfishing arrows Ronnie? I still have a bunch from my bow fishing hey day. Some of these are promised to MoPanfisher but you can have some also. Along this line I was a member of NFAA (national field archery or United Bowhunters of Missouri, Chigger digger bowhunters, White oak bowhunters. Won some bowfishing tourneys when Belonging to the Chigger diggers. Oh those were the days! When there were no limits on carp, buffalo and gar. We used to load a full sized pickup bed to over flowing with legal fish. Spread them into farmers fields to fertilize. They were happy and we were happy and the crops flourished! BilletHead

Yes I know duck again? Yessiree seared mallard and a mix of our fall garden Lettice. Romaine, black seeded Simpson ,grand rapids and buttercrunch., Sure went down the hatch good, BilletHead

If it will make wrench squirm sign me up! Might not do the hybrid club. I might get bashed because it is non native. Well maybe half of a membership because half of that frankinfish is native., BilletHead

That a girl! Passion for you sport. I am telling you MoCarp this may be a match made in heaven. Nice to see you have reinforcements coming. Marry this gal and have a carp themed wedding. Spend your honeymoon in Europe catching carp in their native country! Awesome ! Send photos please . Native please and not in stocked fed fish ponds. Just like your friend you have no idea as you read what you want. Where do the BilletHead's prefer to fish and what for? Natives in their respective native habitat. Have said that before. Have you read that? Do I hate carp? No, I just hate what they have done. Do I fish for carp? Yes with a fly rod without bait. Caught many carp by spot and stalk. Not by sitting and chumming. Want a wary fish? Please also show us your fishing trophies. No cut and paste please we want you and your fish not others from the internet. Do not whatever you do tell us where you caught them as there are unscrupulous bow fishermen out there that will ruin your spot. Do I want dams removed? In places yes it would be a good thing. Can't here now. Some things cannot be undone. What does this mean? " and take out butts back our native lands?" I am not sure how to answer this? Do we get an invite to the wedding? The BilletHead is a proud life member of trout unlimited, a yearly member of Ducks unlimited. Hey I was even a member of the national trappers association and the Missouri trappers association when we gave money to "Bring them back to Missouri" Otter program ! Otter haters hate me too they were native before us . I will draw the line at becoming a member of Carp unlimited or Zebra mussel unlimited or Asian carp unlimited or silver carp unlimited or bighead carp unlimited or New Zealand Mud Snail unlimited. Have I forgot anything? I may join Spoonbill unlimited just to mess with my Buddy Fishing Wrench, BilletHead

To make sure not to repeat the sins of our forefathers. You know like the introduction of non native invasive species like carp. Too bad we had to learn the hard way. Man is his worst enemy. BilletHead

Hey Anthony, Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead will go to our little pond in the woods and hope all the local duck park shooting will send a few our way. I did prowl one of the parks and we have some ducks. Will look around some in the morning again. Not able and not going to try to get a spot in the park this weekend. Too old to fight for a spot. May try up there one day next week. Good luck buddy, BilletHead

Thad actually sounds pretty good! We made garlic sausage out of a pork butt. May have to try that in there. It is going to be seared duck breasts tonight so maybe tomorrow squash again . RPS's cardiologist would be happy with me vegging out more. I foraged again today, BilletHead

Quit picking on my buddy. We were up late texting about the ball game. He is either wrapped up in a prop or still in bed. BilletHead

Are aquatic organisms transported by waterfowl?
BilletHead replied to MoCarp's topic in Conservation Issues
Interesting read and thank you for the link. Four years old and out of Europe. Only possible proof is that the waterfowl are given eggs to eat and viable eggs passed? Right there they also talk of turtles, tornados and waterspouts doing the same thing. As many waterfowl as we have here in North America and where they go if this is true there would be no body of water without every species of fish native or non native in it. Wonder if a north American scientist has proven this? BilletHead -
