    What's Cooking?

Well one thing I know is this gives me hope I may have ten friends on OA Well I hope I do, BilletHead who might of eaten a bass if I would of caught one this morning. One of those spots that may or may not of got to the fifteen inch size.
  3. I have seen meat bought with the cards that made me drool and then get into a better vehicle than I drove at the time. I suppose having having the food stamps let them make the car payment. Yes I do think some need the help too, BilletHead
  4. Ahhh but Wrench I assume you pay some of yours so you need to share with those who pay none of their bills. Oh yea we do that already since we pay taxes. BilletHead who thinks he has been burned. So yes I feel the burn cuz I am hot under the collar.
  5. Don't plan on getting into any trouble Ness but if I do I carry a big stick, not to be confused with a stick bait. Wrench just what caliber would that nine footer be? My bet is the fly fishermen would back me. Everyone knows our rods are longer and if we wanted to count coup with the enemy we would be in and out with happy results for both. No I don't want to hear it isn't the size of you rod it's what you do with it either.. BilletHead
  6. Here's your sign! Wrench what color would your nose be? I sure hope it isn't brown . Seriously there are all kinds running around among us. You can't fix stupid. I know after reading everyone's posts on these seven pages I sure hope if I am stabbed that my fly fishing friends would back me like the bass men do for one of their own. BilletHead
  7. 21 pound grass carp on the fly rod many years back. Have not weighed fish over fifteen pounds because of limit on the scales I have. That will change maybe because fifty pound scales now . Nice fish everyone! This is a neat thread. Impressive to say the least. To Marcus, looks like you and that fish may have wrestled in the riverbank mud, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Hummm, interesting bantering here. My question to the Chief is who throws the ned rig better? East side of the state or Westerners? Food related too. It is hot right now and the fish seem to find it tasty, BilletHead

Way to go Pete, Got me wanting to order a case of Riplets! I can hear Mrs. BilletHead now coming home from work seeing a box of chips. "What the heck" We order our sunflower seeds by the case why not chips? BilletHead
  12. So nice yesterday afternoon. Mrs. BilletHead raked leaves as I did a little to the beds. Got the baby tiller out and gave it a whirl in the big beds. Threw in some fertilizer and raked the dirt some. Will be tilling this a couple more times before it is time to plant. Soon I will get one side covered so the soil will warm up, Lettuce started and looking good, Yesterday also got peppers, tomatoes and more lettuce planted in starting pots. If we have half of what we reaped from the garden last season we will be happy, BilletHead
  13. Ah yes another fun trip with friends. Yes windy and kudos to Ham for boat control in the conditions we had.I am not sure I would of had his patience. Another good thing besides fishing we got to solve world problems and talk smack about OA forum members too . Go ahead and guess you know who you are! HA. Funny also who you see on the river. Many, many moons ago I met a gentleman on the Bates county drainage ditch. He and I stood on the muddy bank catching crappie, walleye, white bass and hybrid in a small slot on the river. We were the only ones there and introduced ourselves. His name was Ken White the outdoor writer. We conversed about turkey and deer hunting, fishing of course too. Being outdoor folks I have seen him other places also fishing. It has been several years until yesterday. As we visited with DD floating down the river I thought I recognized one of the gents in the boat with him. I said is that you Ken White, yes he said. Pretty neat to see him again enjoying being out doing what he likes to do. A nice fellow. Icing on the cake for a great outing. Some shots from the day, For some of you that have a hard time imagining the power of the force of what high water flows can do. BilletHead

  15. Oh My MOPanfisher you have no idea. Those there are flying fajitas. You have no idea what these can taste like prepared correctly. So much you can do with them. If I could not eat them I would not shoot them, BilletHead
  16. Well Migratory season is over now for the BilletHead's. Our last hunt for this season is over. Did well but first the happiness photo. A accumulation of many shots. We did pick up others empties we found too, Hunted a very small pond where I had spied many geese using for a couple of days. We worked allot of birds but we were right next to a secondary highway so as vehicles drove by and the looky loos gawking at the geese some did not commit. Enough did though and our limits were made. We did have one sail out and die on a distant pond and we picked him up later as we left. The pile before we left the pond, I know tailgate shots are not so cool but here is the final tally for the day, And lastly we got one with a white uni brow. Never seen one like this but think it is pretty cool, All big geese today. BilletHead
  17. Well Mitch to tell you the truth I have been called a dumb clucker, Stupid clucker, smart clucker, silly clucker, cluck head, etc. No one has ever called me a double clucker. Actually not a very good clucker at all. Just glad I can find some not too smart geese to listen to me. . Three more flying fajitas gave their life to Mrs. BilletHead and I today. One more day to go, BilletHead

  19. Well done Dan, You made the best of what you had work. Adaptations we all do in our areas. Thanks for sharing and the photos, BilletHead
  20. I think I will try my hand at this soon too Ness, BilletHead
  21. She most likely was thinking who the heck shoots birds over a frozen pond? She thinks I am not risking my life for no stupid goose or goose hunters. BilletHead
  22. We will not let two years go by before it happens again! Legend my arse! BilletHead
  23. Well another waterfowl season is about over. After two years of trying to get a hunt with OA member John P. we finally made a plan and got it done. He made the long drive to BilletHeadville and brought the Yellow Dog. I had been sweating this hunt because if the ice on and ice off pond conditions. Can I get this guy a shot at geese? Nothing is a sure thing right now. It had got to eighteen yesterday morning and froze over again. I about was in a panic but did a scout trip in the afternoon looking. With yesterdays wind and warmth some places had broken up some. In my mind I had two choices and when John and yellow dog showed up we loaded up. Went to choice one and found it half frozen. Wind in South West to change to North West it would work even though we could not set up where I wanted to. Set up and made a place between the two lay outs for yellow dog. Soon we started seeing a few birds. Three came in and it was kind of a cluster for a moment and one bird hit the water dead. Yellow dog did his thing! I got to witness her first goose retrieve. As she was doing this one of the little geese worked back we finally coaxed it back and number two down! Both birds were cacklers and another first as this was John's first canada of this variety. John said this was worth the trip. More visiting and more geese flying in the distance. A lull in the action and then three more birds gave us the stink eye. We worked them for a spell and as they began to leave more birds coming. I was watching the birds getting together when I caught out of the corner of my eye in front of John a dark figure go by. I said what was that? He said another came in and was within five foot of our faces. I did not see it and he said I was waiting for you to call the shot. I said you should of took it but glad you did not because the birds getting together are coming to look. look they did and when the shots were taken four more birds down and just like that we were done! BUT two birds ended up on the ice. Too thick for yellow dog to break through and too thin for her to walk on. So we picked up and went back to house, unloaded trailer and truck, loaded the kayak and returned. One goose still in big ice and other in the middle of a iceberg floating around. Retrieves made by kayak and yellow dog. Photos from this morning, Kayak retrieve hoping not to have a titanic incident, Yellow dog watching the ordeal, Now to yellow dog doing the real work. caught him in mid flight too! The second trip ice bound geese hero photo, And finally the mornings take back at the house, Good day with a new friend and his yellow dog! BilletHead
  24. I agree Mark! Mrs BilletHead and I finally went and seen it Tuesday Afternoon. There were a total of six people in the theater. That is the benefit of going after it has ran for awhile in a small town. We enjoyed it and like you said it was a movie. I want all to remember whoever writes books or diary of what they recall of their actual events will not be spot on. Do you think those mountain men actually told the truth? BilletHead
  25. Remember Marcus when you hit it big on the circuit winning bucks fishing and you get one of those big fluffies on the spool it is called a professional over ride BilletHead
