  1. Thanks for the dang! Anytime, just give us the heads up so we can kill something to feed you two. 😁
  2. It was great to see you Jeff, You scored on some other stuff than we did but had enough that we needed no lunch and got ice cream on the way home. We left about 12:30. Missed Bfishin also. Pat really wanted to meet him and thank him for getting us on the last waltz video. T shirt for me also. A bunch of vendors pawning goods. From a wood carver doing spoon and other wood cooking utensils like spurtles. He did good work and I saw several people walking around with his wares. A brewery was selling a limited edition of beer. We did not partake but seen cans being carried around and being sipped on. Two people were different. One was dumping his into the grass and I asked is it that bad? Yes! Another lady that was selling the t shirts was making a frown with each sip 😁. At one stop was another squirrel sample with a big jug of lemonade, full of lemon and orange slices. Said adult only. Spiked I presume? Yes you both need some. A live band that was not bad. The vocalist was singing and dancing with every child walking by. Lots of people and as we were leaving more were piling in. Umerex air rifles were there. I was wanting to stick around long enough for the squirrel skinning contest but my sinuses are a wreck with this dry wind laden with pollen and dust. All plugged up and pressure headache. Pat drove to and from the shindig. On the way home two hours my eyes were closed. No samples given from any contestants. There were many, many teams cooking for that. It's was smelling so good all over the place. Like Jeff said kids of all ages has no problem finding things to do. Great family event. I wore my squirrel whisperer t shirt. Several people wanted pictures. One guy said can I get your picture too? Heck no. Too funny. VID_20240907_104858449.mp4
  3. Thanks, I will probably be wearing my Squirrel whisperer brown shirt and straw hat @Quillback how should we find you besides looking for a tall person?
  4. Please let this bird of peace let us feast, we ask that it will nourish our body and soul. Let it be blessed in the name of _____, Amen. Fill the blank in if you want. I left it empty to adhere to rules and not make someone mad.
  5. Ha! Only flying squirrels.
  6. Come on @Johnsfolly get this guy beat! https://wjla.com/news/local/maryland-dnr-fishing-record-snakehead-jake-steppe-sudlersville-state-upper-eastern-shore-queen-annes-county-eastern-shore
  7. Well gentlemen, Pat has made an executive decision and said we are going. Hope you run in one or both of you.
  8. I may or may not be entertaining the idea.
  9. @Quillback Jeff! We need a reporter on the ground. Not far from you. Surely you can miss one day of fishing to attend and tell us about it. Take lots of pictures and video. World Champion Squirrel Cook Off | Facebook

    What's Cooking?

DANG! One should be using a vintage skillet though 🤣
  11. Thanks Rick, I like to eat the critters I take and don't like to demolish them.
  12. Good luck Gavin.
  13. Thanks Anthony 😀.
  14. And again I went this morning. Pat volunteered to work a couple days so I was Solo. A bit slower today and it took me until 10:00 to get the last bird. I was more picky with my shots. One collared dove in the limit also. Shot way better slowing down too. Less than a box today by one shell 😆. 1.6 shells per bird average. Not bad considering that the national average is 5 to 7 shots per bird. Cleanest bunch not shot up so this batch will be bacon wrapped and over charcoal and wood. I dropped three in the pasture with this guy. I had to be careful with him.
  15. Not everyone has private places to hunt. Same with the duck parks and trout parks. From what I can tell they do a good job managing for dove and quail there and for other species. I made a trip with @duckydoty one time in the middle of the week. We did pretty good and saw many birds. @curtisce went and actually got a dove band.
  16. I'll add another picture of my Wing woman when she was just a my Wing girl. She was just 18 in this picture. Right around a month after we got married. I was 19. I told her a few minutes ago you have come a long way baby. Circa September 1977. Good grief.😆
  17. It really was. When you are young you are tough and will endure some stuff.
  18. The bear is still around, Had a full mount. The ticks and mosquitoes were really bad on that hunt. To this day if you part the bear hair there are petrified tick carcasses that went through the tanning process. When we hunted used 100 percent deet to fight the skeeters. Tried to use a headnet but they found their way in and you had them buzzing around inside the net. So we slathered out faces too. Those mosquitoes came in hard. You could feel them hit your skin. They would try to get you but the deet would run them off. They would be a cloud of them around your face.
  19. 40 years ago. I was a young 26 year old. Spring season for Bear. My friend Kevin (21) went with. We have a small patch of timber next to our house that goes into a field. We practiced there. Tied small round bales of hay between trees about bear height. Made a tree stand and shot the heck out of those bales at various yardages. To this day we still call this area the bear woods. String trackers were the deal for awhile. I know some of you might remember them. Everyone said to use it on bear. Told their coats were thick coming out of hibernation and would absorb blood making tracking hard. Hunting evenings over bait. From 4 until dark. Its like nine to nine thirty to dark. Must have your bow unstrung or cased at sundown. This is creepy knowing Bear are out prowling. I got my bear on the first sit. We put up our own tree stands. The bear came in slow and very cautious. Then quartered away slightly. I drew and released. Bingo I hit the spot and let me tell you that bear covered some ground. String flying out of the container on my bow. It finally stopped and I heard what is called the death moan. Processer wanted the bear whole. It was that gall bladder he wanted thus making sure it wasn't disguarded. I got to start fishing lake of the woods from the bank. After Kevin got his bear we took a daily fly in to a remote lake. Flew into the lake in a beaver and picked up flying back in an otter. When we crossed the border going back we were asked what our business was in Canada. Told them and they said to park and bring in our export tag for the bears. I will have to say we both looked pretty rough, Kevin more than I. 🤣 So things got weird then. After looking at our export tag they wanted our wallets. Went through each pulling everything out. Gave each of us the stuff in a pile. Where were we born, country of origin. Many questions. Finally let us go. Felt creepy just trying to get back into America. These were our people making us feel this way.

    Can I get a dang!
  22. Speaking of being on can mean two things. Being on the proverbial "X" and hitting birds well. We had the best of both this morning. I literally loved having the best wing woman with me today. When I had my 15 she had 12 and I watched her finish up. I am really blessed. 🥰
  23. Peace my rear, those little feathered rockets can sometimes get the best of a good wing shot if they are not on.
  24. Great report Mr.Pitt thanks.
  25. Shot a bear in Ontario in the mid 80s with my recurve. Was a fun hunt. Like Glen said above it had been eating bacon grease and pastry items. We did like the meat but as stated by John above had to cook it well done to get rid of the possible trichinosis. I took the bear to be processed at a place in Nester Falls. The guy was mad because I had shot through the gall bladder. He had a side hustle selling the gall to a market where it was sent to the Orient for who knows what. I will try to find a picture to share and add more to the story later.
