  1. I can't remember the year (maybe Bill can remember) but it was many moons ago when I was guiding everyday. Any way, it was in March and we were throwing jerk baits. For the entire jerk bait season we just hammered big carp. I'm talking 4 to 6 carp per trip. There might have been a big shad kill that year and the carp were coming up and sucking in the dead shad. The word was getting around that I was the best carp guide on the lake. Haven't caught one on a jerk bait since. Go figure!
  2. Flutter spoon. Wind and stop through the school.
  3. I fished deep cranks a bunch with old Bob Tindle. We used DD22's, Fat Free's, but our favorite deep cranks were Poes 400 plus. Most of our cranking was done up the James starting around cape fair boat dock up to just past flat creek. We caught a lot of good keeper fish that way. The 22 would take a toll on your wrists after a while but the Poes wasn't so bad. The swimbait is a much easier way to catch them but if you work at it there are many spots where deep cranking works very well. We would usually run into Kelly Powers doing the same thing (deep cranking) but like I said, this was the good old days before swimbaits were around. Still have a few of those old poes. They where a great bait.
  4. They have a really nice tackle selection and they are adding more everyday. Dave, you ned to get your stuff in there please.
  5. You got that right! I was going through withdrawals when there was no tackle stores to pester.
  6. Little kids that lie grow up to be with the weather bureau!
  7. Good lookin' rogue!
  8. I love a good crappie report. Thanks a bunch!
  9. RPS, what did you think about the wild thang?
  10. I donated a bunch of half and half warts to the central pro am as give away prizes that year . Dave Barker won them. I guess he knew what to do with them.
  11. The first year Mark bought the tackle shop, he sold around 1600 purple and chartreuse rogues that I painted up. Sammy, the previous owner sold some for $60 each. Unreal!!! This was before pradco had that color and it was very hot color on Table Rock. The old rogue was the only stickbait around at the time. No Lucky Craft or Megabass.
  12. Wiggle warts on sale at BPS right now for $3.97. My choice would Phantom green/purple belly. I know it catches fish.
  13. To me, the wart is the standard. Everybody, spro, bomber, berkley, or whoever, is just trying to be like an old wart. Its really not fair to compare a RC to a wart. Its a bigger bait with a bigger bill. If you are going to compare the RC to the wart, and say, well it casts better (bigger, heavier bait) and it runs deeper (longer wider bill), you should compare it to another bait in its class like a Norman or maybe a fat free. Just my 2 cents.
  14. They are only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They have no minnows this time of year.
  15. What an awesome resource. Thank you very much.
  16. Happy Birthday William! Are you collecting social security yet ya old fart?
  17. v63 is a green craw. 62 is a brown craw but no green at all.
  18. Its a 209. The green back was changed to black for some unknown reason. The Dodson boys would kill ya for a green one. Very good color.
  19. If I see him, I'll get him on here.
  20. John is a great guy. He is a stone county deputy stationed at Reeds Spring High School as a juvenile officer. I think he was the coach for the Reeds Spring High School bass fishing team. Like Bill said, he's been around long enough to know whats going on.
  21. Does this dude have any blood? With my blood thinners, my arm would have look like somebody stabbed me with a butcher knife.
  22. Its open now.
  23. Its open now.
  24. Aunts Creek is open. Muddy water though.
  25. Gates are back open. First ramp is closed. Second ramp is launch-able. A lot of very small debris in parking area but noting you can't drive over. Water is murky(muddy) with a very slight green tint. Visibility about a foot or so. Didn't get a water temp. Was just checking to see if they had opened yet.
