One of the browns I caught Friday had eggs too. I thought that was odd as well.

I think it does probably happen occasionally. In his case, I think he knew but was more concerned about the fish living than the record. That’s what he told me on the phone. He does keep a tape measure and a Boga scale with him. He catches quite a few really nice fish!!

I’m not sure. I know in Arkansas they have to be weighed in certified scales and someone with game and fish has to be there to certify the weight. Normally those scales are in grocery stores or similar.

I just text him and he said that it was a state record but he caught in in a Catch and Release area, plus he didn’t want to kill the fish, so turned it loose to swim another day!!

I’ll bring some jigs and some micros too. Anybody that knows what they want, please let me know ahead of time and I’ll have them pulled and ready to go.

He didn’t say but I’m pretty sure he was not using a strike indicator. Tight lining a double micro rig. 1/64 at bottom and 1/124 above it.

A few months ago I remember someone talking about fishing micro jigs. Here are pics of one of my Zig Jig customers, James Carver, with a toad of a brown trout. He caught it on the San Juan River in New Mexico on one of my 1/64 oz olive Zig Jig micro jigs. The fished was tape measured at 32” long and it weighed 22 lbs on his Boga scale. He sent me the picture today when he ordered some more jigs.

I can tell you from personal experience that those South Fork of the Snake River trout where it comes out of Palisades Dam will hammer a Zig Jig. Me and a buddy fished all three sections of on 3 different days about 15 years ago. It was great fishing and all we threw were jigs. The biggest fish we caught was a 24” Snake River Cuttie. They were trying to get the rainbows out even back then. Beautiful area out there in the Swan Valley!!!

I have run a 24 V trolling motor on my trout boats since 2003 and never had an issue running shallow. Several people on OAF have been in my old AFF boat and also my Top Water that is about 3 years old. I have always run mine with the batteries in the front. I tried a 12V Minn Mota power drive on the Top Water when I first got it because it was so much lighter than my AFF. I had the one battery in the back along with my cranking battery. It was fine as long as you were up on plane but at slow speeds, like putting it on the trailer, the front end was really squirrelly. I iced it to the front and everything worked much better. Then upgraded to an Ultrex trolling motor and they are all 24V. No issues at all on running shallow. Both of my boats had a step up to the front deck and that’s where we put the batteries.

Won’t mattter to me and Brett on fish. I’m sure we will have plenty.

Those lampreys are disgusting!!!

I took my good friend Rex McGill and his son Eric with me fishing on the White River yesterday. We decided to put in at Wildcat instead of fighting the crowd in the Catch and Release area below Bull Shoals dam. I have attached pics of some of the nice browns we caught. 1/8 oz Zig Jigs in olive/ginger, pink/white with Krystal flash, olive/orange and solid white with Krystal flash. We fished half a day at Wildcat and then went to Rim Shoals for the afternoon. Weather was great and we had a little wind in the afternoon, but not bad. It was beautiful day in the Ozarks! First time I have had the boat in the river since late September or early October. They were running 4 generators. This post has been promoted to an article

I can bring bream fillets. Do we know a head count yet??

My favorite river but it’s tough with two generators and no trolling motor. Drag chains are illegal there. It’s a lot easier with two people in the boat too. Most of the drifts are relatively short so you’re doing a lot of positioning of the boat. I have hooked fish in there that I could never turn or move much!!!

I love my Ultrex and use it for holding in current all the time. Bret fished with me before he bought his and couldn’t believe how well it worked!

If it’s a Topwater it’s probably 50” wide. I don’t think he ever made a 48” wide???

I love my Costas and the amber lenses seem to be th best for looking into the water. I have had some in the past with the blue or green outer color if the lenses and I did it think that I saw as god through that. Costa has good customer service as well. I had a small issue with my frame and sent them back in after about a year and a half. They sent me a new frame with my old lenses in it.
