  1. Nice job Rude!....I've not been to Fellows yet this year. The motor was down for quite awhile and so the wife and I hit Tanney a few weekends from the shore and got some nice bows n browns. Finally got the boat in the water the first time this year last weekend to Tanney and didn't get too many fish. May have to hit Fellows up here real soon and see what we can shake outta tha water!
  2. Thank you "Lilley"! We appreciate the offer and will gladly take you up on it. I just happened to have emailed you through your business email, for the first time, just the evening before, under the surname of "Petty". We will come and introduce ourselves in the "am". Have a Blessed evening!
  3. Thanks for the wonderful report. The wife and I have been dying to get to bring our boat to Taney to fish this weekend. Unfortunately I've had to tear the motor apart to replace the impeller and seals and well, long story short, I broke the prop coupler and had to order another one. Needless to say we won't be boating but we still want to fish. Are there any recommended spot where we might be able to fish EARLY tomorrow morning from the shore? Guess we'll be using eggs, powerbait and worms. Keep in mind even though we live in Springfield, we've NEVER been to Taney so this will be our maiden trip. Thanks folks for any advice you might care to divulge and have a most Blessed evening tonight and heavy stringers tomorrow!
  4. Have not had the boat out all year but gearing up to go on Saturday morning (16th). I'm still very much a novice in Ozark lakes. My usual standby rigs have been PBJ FB jig with pumpkin craw or similar color Rattlewart. Most times I shoot straight out south from the dock and work that whole shoreline east to near the dam. Good luck out there and if you spot me in a white/blue Starcraft, say hello!
  5. I'm with you Smallie, I love reading reports of others having a ball fishing for bass. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I'm a newbie to bass fishing. Most of my experience is fishing either Trout or Salmon. I'm still learning gear and technique but it's a slow process. I mostly fish FB jigs and rattle-warts. I've got an impressive collection of Ware Eagles but have yet to really use them. As I said it's all a learning process. Love this place as an invaluable learning tool!
  6. I don't know what you're getting your panties in a bunch about. I read the entire article and I see nothing that even suggests that Fellows is gearing to become the next mecca for fishing, sailing and skiing enthusiasts. I don't know if you've noticed in all your years of fishing, but tell me something. How many skiers have you seen towed by a 40hp motor? Your comment, "I don't want to be one of those jerks that sits in one area for hours on end while other people are trying to fish there. It' called being rude, selfish and dumb" is absolutely ludicrous! Everyone is entitled to an opinon, even a bad one. But that comment just made you rude, selfish and dumb. I don't know how old you are and I don't care. Myself, let's just say I've been fishing over 50 years and I think that gives me the right and the credibility to make my point if counting "pole hours" in the water puts me in the same "league" as you. Personally, I don't think that time served on the water makes anybody any smarter...just sayin'. I'm gonna end this on the note that I respect your right to your opinion AND your right to voice it. But to get mad because others don't agree that you have the right to shove it down people throats, well, I'm going to requote you, that's just "rude, selfish and dumb. I say let's get back to talking about fishing on this forum and confront the "other concerns" with City Utilities.
  7. WoW! Now THAT'S what I call, "off the hook!"
  8. Sounds like you had a decent day! I winterized the boat and sadly have been too busy with school to take it out. This being Spring Break perhaps I could tear myself away from homework to actually get the reeling time in. Lord knows I sure DO need the break! Well let you know if I can make that happen.
  9. Yeah, I was prepared for a no-fish winter especially since I attend classes full time at Missouri State. 2011 really was my first year out fishing with any mind of what to do and where to fish here in Missouri. I got a work comp settlement for a back injury and the first two things we bought was an adjustable bed and a fishing boat since the new wife and I love to fish. It's a little hard on my back but I love being out on the water and fishing. Fishing has been in my blood since I was a little boy. I was going to be an icthyologist and work in the fisheries on a state or federal level but 3 months into school I hurt my back and now I can't perform physical labor so I've taken up a creative writing major and maybe I can write grants. We'll see. Still about 2 years to go. I can't wait for spring so we can get an early start.
  10. The temps get well below freezing here and my boat has a cover but it's outside all winter. To prevent damage from freezing, I hook up my water supply to the outboard and get the engine running. I disconnect the fuel line and let the fuel in the line run through the carb. Just as she's starting to run on fumes, I spray some fogging oil in the intake. I disconnect the water hose and while the water is draining out of the motor, I pull the spark plugs and clean them, spray more fogging oil in the cylinders and then put the plugs back in. I also put some booster additive to my fuel tanks to keep the fuel fresh. That's how I winterize my boat.
  11. I'm kicking myself right now for winterizing the boat. Sunday is due to hit near 67 degrees! Oh the HORROR!...the horror!
  12. We never got out on the water on Saturday morning. The wind was just ridiculous.
  13. Welp, I don't know how long the weather is going to hold out for us. As I've mentioned in earlier posts I'm an older fart in my mid-50's but I'm in my 3rd year at Missouri State and homework keeps me pretty teathered to this puter of mine. I've been reading some very encouraging posts especially using the War Eagles and I've convinced the wife (she loves to fish too) that tomomorrow may be the last time we get to take the boat out for the year. All of our bass, well what few we've managed to finesse have come from Fellows since we're considerable closer. So far Table Rock has skunked us. This is the first year with our own boat and our first year at Table Rock and with half a dozen trips out we've been down for the count but not out because skunked or not, we always have a great time being on this beautiful lake, taking exception of course when the skiers and tubers (rudest I've seen anywhere) come out. That all said, I've checked the weather and am expecting a breeze up to 22mph with temps around 40 so that should be in our favor, although I wished the wind were a little shallower because at 22mph we might get knocked around a bit making fishing testy at best. Being from Springfield, we usually put in at KC but if someone wants to chime in a preferable area I'm all ears. Wish us luck and pray it's a tolerable day. Good luck friends!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Would like to shout out with 21 stars and a BIG THANK YOU to all who served before me, with me, and after me, particularly those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for my freedoms. I'd do it all again in the heartbeat. I'm just darn glad I didn't have to serve it under THIS administration!
  14. Awesome! Thank you my friends!
  15. Go figure. Back in June I bought 8 War Eagles in Mouse, Purple Shad, Blue Shad and Firecracker with extra skirts as well and have yet to hit the water with them and I just realized I did not buy 3/8oz., I bought 1/2oz. Hoping to hit the lake this weekend. Should I even try them that heavy, or send them back and exchange them? Maybe the TR gods will smile kindly on me. ~David

  17. If only Shakespeare were a bass fisherman: To fish, or not to fish: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the soul to at least try only to get skunked Or to sling the blades and shakey-heads of outrageous fortune, Or to take a creature to oppose against what is hoped to exist a sea of hungry bass. And by a challenge to fool them? To rise victorious: to exceed beyond an illegal profile; No more; and no less by a line and morsal to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural of those almost landed That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd upon. To fish or die; Well I've been hearing some certainly promising news however TR still scares me. Bill was gracious enough to provide some excellent asnwers to some questions I had posted the other day and while I appreciate his efforts, we decided it was too nice to fish successfully so we put it off. I've been watching the weather at http://www.weather.com and it looks like the next 10 days are sunny, mild and little to no wind. This theoretically doesn't sound like good bass fishing. With that said, we are seeing some success on the water and it just baffles me. We live in Springfield proper and to make the run to KC or nearby Aunts, it would be nice to have a little more to go on. But from what I've learned on the forum is that TR is quite a phenomenon all its own. As fickle a lady as they come and not one to easily reveal her secrets, I'm guessing the key no matter what else happens is to get cracking on the water AT dawn and pray for early low fog or some wind to provide some chop. Before I exit, I have one question that I've heard all my life and have used it to fish for everything. Is there any truth to the idea that when the moon is full that fish moved their feeding cycle to middle of the night and middle of the day instead of early morning and late evening?
  18. Thanks for the report Bill. Much appreciated. I've half a mind to head down there tomorrow morning. On some previos advice from you awhile back I picked up 8 of the 1/2oz War Eagles. 2ea in Firecracker, Mouse, Blue Shad and Purple Shad. Haven't had the opportunity yet to get them wet. You think tomorrow might offer some interest? If so, would you recommend the mouse over the others? Most likely we'd put in at KC and make our way to Aunts Creek unless you'd care to redirect. Thanks friend! ~David
  19. Randy they are literally across the Sam's Club off of Cambell right after you go south under James River Highway. Basically sandwiched between Sam's Club and the Main Greene County Library.
  20. Where was this picture taken? I swear it looks exactly like the house in South Branson where I bought my StarCraft from earlier in the year. Fellas name was Brian R. Probably not but had to ask. He sold his boat to me so he could buy a pontoon since his family had gotten just a little bit bigger.
  21. Got the charger on the trolling motor and ready to go in a few. Now to get the wife up. This COULD take a few minutes! Good Luck up north! If you happen to see us on Fellows, stop and say hello!
  22. The wife and I will be there in the early morning. I'm hoping this cooling will perk up their appetites.
  23. With the cooler temps the wife and I decided to see if we could find any LM's. The majority of the afternoon was uneventful. The first 20 minutes starting at around 5:30 we landed two protected fish at 13" and 15" respectively. We found them by traveling to the far south corner of the dam buoys and then heading east to the second point. They both were in about 12ft of water mainly lurking in the vegetation with a few sparse and small trees. Both came off a warthog. Maybe if iy keeps cooling off we can land a couple of "keepers".
  24. I swear there's an echo in here!
  25. This is just SO WRONG! What the hell is wrong with people!!!?
