  1. Sounds good. I'd be up for that, or doing Mill Creek. Havent been there yet either. I'd show ya Crane if I knew it, but thats about 4 hours away from me , Im in St. Louis. Its pretty close to my in-laws place though.
  2. Mic, yes, yes it was the Asian American with TWO sweet bamboo rods. yeah he didnt mess around up there. Even after I had passed holes, he still had caught fish. I still had fun though. Definitly worth going back. He said thats really the only place he fishes now. he was very nice with letting me fish upstream of him and didnt mind at all. Super nice guy. I fished from the parking lot all the way up past ( whoops ) the public use area. I didnt notice the sign until I had turned back around. Anyway, here are my pictures. Caught my first one from in front of this log. First one, thought it was a minnow at first glance haha See the minnows?? they are everywhere Second fish
  3. I went with a Panasonic Lumix TS3. Its working out great so far. i cant wait til it warms up more and I can really use it. I kept having these fears of dunking my SLR in the water. I was going to get an underwater case for it but the good cases are $1000 and a bag is ~$130 but they can wear out. So dedicated camera it ws. Its not as good as my SLR but it definitly works. We'll have to get together sometime and go do some video/photo/fishing nonsense
  4. Earlier in the week I decided to go to Blue Springs today ( Sunday ) then it got here and I was on the fence about it. Wasnt really prepared so I tied a couple flies and hit the road. I had a very pleasant day actually fishing the creek for the "first" time and actually trying to fish. i saw LOTS of trout, but man are they spooky down there. I am pleased to say that I was able to bring two in, so first wild trout I've caught in MO. First one was all of about 3", thought it was a minnow at first until I got it out of the water and say the par marks. Second fish was much better, about 6" long. It was a nice day to explore, I ran into another fly fisher and we talked for alittle while, he seemed to have better luck then I but such is life. I will have pictures up tomorrow, I went to test out my new waterproof camera and actually got to use it but I dont have an SD card reader at home. So yes, i finally did it, wild trout in MO. Cross it off the list, Mill Creek is next in March.
  5. Welcome. Photos look nice. What are you using for underwater? i got to use my new underwater camera today.
  6. Looks like a good time guys.
  7. Where is this double L hole at? ive been on the creek and didnt have much luck. i parked at the second lot after the road goes across the creek. my buddy's farm is on the other side of the conservation area so its not a total bust if I head down there. IM assuming the red gat eis the upper parking?
  8. I have some gear Im looking to unload and upgrade. Craigslist has been less then helpful for this stuff. im open to offers, I have no use for the bows anymore and since my rotator cuff has been compromised I cant shoot them comfortably. Hoyt raider Compound bow. Its an older model, probably from the early 90s when I bought it. I have a BUNCH of stuff for it. Case, arrows, fiber sights, quiver, stablizer, rest, arm gaurd, finger tabs, extra string. it has never had a release on the string. Draw weight is ajustable, the strings are for a 27" and 29" draws IIRC. Not really sure what to ask, so maybe $100?? I can and will provide pictures at request, please feel free to ask me anything.
  9. i wonder if its the same fish i caught a couple weekends ago out there
  10. Probably pretty well. the big version I have balances out perfect on my Sage bass rod and St Croix 8wt. Its alittle nicer on the 8wy because the rod itself is heavier but I have no real complaints about the setup.
  11. I have the 1680. i find it to be an excellent reel. i use it on my 8wt and my Sage bass rod. i have zero complaints about it, I have landed some carp on it and it does a might fine job. Still trying to pit it against some muskie
  12. Where were these taken? i wouldnt mind shooting some not so common birds.....with my camera of course.
  13. I have a 1300 fps Gamo and it tears squirrels up. Its more then enough to do the job. if the shot is placed right, it darn near pops their heads off. However, its not much quieter then 22 if any quieter at all. They are pretty loud once you start get to the fancy ones. mine is a big cat IIRC
  14. Welcome! I on the other hand cant wait to leave MO and move to Fl, which hopefully happens in 4-5 years
  15. Cool, I still need to try that creek one of these days. I guess it'll be better to take a day off durning the week then hit it on the weekend
  16. Fly tackle. Sage TCX 5wt. Correct. Still havent gotten a muskie out there. Might go out this weekend and try, but I usually rent a boat for that lake.
  17. Thanks guys, it was a great fish! Stockers that everyone were catching seemed to the be the normal 12-14" that they dump out in the park.
  18. Yup. Sure did. or maybe it was 35 when I was looking for muskie
  19. There are no fish at Busch........ ....except this hog I pulled out this afternoon. taped out at 26", dont worry, I let her go.
  20. olive tail, olive crystal body, natural grizzly hackle, tied with orange thread. they just look buggy and i have 4 of them on my tieing desk that need to be put back together
  21. man maybe i need to get out there soon then. i know this cooler weather is good for them
  22. I think one is an 8 and ones is a 6. been a while since i made them. ive been tying all kinds of foam crap recently. Areo - those look good for some first attempts, as long as they catch fish who really cares?!?
  23. I forget which Rio i ahve on my 3wt but i like it quiet a bit.
  24. feathercraft is alright IMO, i like hargrove much much better. i know tom will give you a quick lesson in the parking lot. not to sure if feathercraft does that anymore. its pretty easy to learn, id say i'd help ya learn but my casting is weird and probably wrong. ha
  25. Just dont work for them. I had a hell of time being pushed around and treated like dirt while working there. They also liked to have manditory, after hour non-payed meetings. Maybe the others are good, but the one in west county mall was not a fun place to work for. the customers were always good, but the people runnign the show not so much
