  1. Championship Marine Repair in Spokane just did our boat and they did a fantastic job. They came highly recommended from several of the guys we fish against in tournaments. I've seen the work they did on some other boats and on ours and it is top notch. Insurance covered our repairs but some of the others I mentioned said they were reasonable.
  2. Trophy, If you do decide to try and build one, ive got a shakey head spinning rod that i broke the top 6-8 inches off of. you can have it for the handle and blank. I don't know anything about rod building so not sure if you take one apart to reuse, but you are still welcome to it.
  3. Bucksaw is our go to for march and april crappie. Bucksaw marina will keep the fishing report updated daily and its always spot on.
  4. I wish I would have known, just got into catching hybrids and stripers last year and I enjoyed it so much I booked a trip with Bink for april 3. Am looking forward to learning from Bink. When I talked to him last week he told me that was prime time for them but he was booked up except for the 2 days before the time you guys have reserved. I will post after my trip and will be looking forward to hear how you all do. Good Luck.

    walleye

glad to see the bottom bouncers are starting to work
  6. put in at state park tuesday evening and fished between 7:00 and 10:00 pm, we caught 6 but only had 2 keepers. caught ours on main lake points on jerkbaits. my buddy had one that was over 5 lbs that came off at the boat, he doesn't own a net but will be purchasing one in the near future.
  7. ?? Those are also my go to colors. I us the plain old firetiger as well
  8. The frabill crawler can works great. I put water in the bottom compartment and keep it in the freezer until i need it, then you just wash your crawlers and put them in the top compartment with an inch or so of water and its good all day.
  9. Thanks all. I checked them out and they arent old enough to be worth anything except catching fish. Appreciate all the recommendations.
  10. my grandfather gave me some of his tackle he doesn't use anymore and i found several spooks. the bodies are all intact and paint is still in good shape but the hooks are shot. Looking to replace them but not sure what hooks brand/size/color etc to use. With all the modifications I have read about on Redfins i figured you guys would know best on the spooks. Thanks.
  11. Good report, I've had a tough time finding the walleye this year, sounds like things might be picking up. Gonna have to get out there and try some more.
  12. agree with champ 100%, I usually check several reports and might to what some gides say, but I will take and use Bill's advice any day of the week.
  13. im with 5bites, its the thought that counts, will have to pick one up and see just how it really looks.
  14. sounds tough, my In-laws recently relocated their houseboat to campbell point and we have spent every weekend the last month and half up there. I'm new to that part of the lake so I have just been experimenting and a lot of graphing. To my surprise I have been having great luck from the Shell Knob bridge all the way to point 19. Catching mainly K's with a few LM mixed in. Most are coming on spoons around docks. Underspin with a 4" swimming fluke has been workng as well around the docks. Deep diving cranks on deep points with timber suspended in 20-25 FOW over 40+ FOW have also produced some nice K's. Most surprising bite has been the topwater. I have been throwing a redfin or popper in any open dock stall I come across and the Kentuckies have been crushing it. Weirdest summer pattern, if you can call it a pattern, I have ever seen. I gave been graphing massive balls of shad everywhere in the campbell point area. While sitting on the houseboat in the stall the kentuckies will boil 2-3 times every hour and leave a massacre of dead shad floating around. most fish caught have been in the 13"-15" range but have managed some really nice K's.
  15. sounds like a tough night, sent you a pm
  16. I have to second slab slinger, wiggle warts for bass and walleye too. Use the flicker shads alot now as well, they seem to catch everything
  17. i agree with several of the others, Top Gun is the palce to go. Aggressor, I just recently heard that water and woods was closed, no sure if its true or not.
  18. I primarily use the slow death rig now over the regular bead/blade rigs. I seem to catch more fish and they are alot cheaper and easier to make. I have found the red hooks usually work better than the bronze, but have had a few days where they want the bronze. I start using them in mid may and will use them throughout the summer into erly fall. If they are hitting trolled cranks i can usually get them to hit the slow death rig. 10-20 fow is where i try to stay, but i have had to go to 25-30 fow in the dog days of summer. If using crawlers i only use about 1/3 of the crawler on the hook, you get a better movement out of the rig. Last year i had some good luck using shiners on the rig too.
  19. I dont go snagging fo spoonbill, I prefer catching bass, walleye and crappie, but i dont see why people have to bash the spoonbillers. They are filter feeders and so trying to catch them with lures or bait is almost impossible. Snagging is truly the only to consistantly catch them. If snagging is not your cup of tea then dont do it, but you dont have to act like spoonbillers are criminals just because they prefer to catch them insted of bass or trout or crappie. The dams that created our beautiful bass and crappie filled lakes are the reason MDC has to stock spoonbill, they are a river fish and dont spawn well in lakes. We are blessed here in missouri to have the ability to hunt and fish for many different species and not one particular species is better than the other. Be happy and enjoy the pursuit of the species you prefer and let everyone else do the same.
  20. Go to www.officerpearson.com and enter the boat raffle too. The grand prize is a fully loaded Ranger and there are 2 other prizes that are fishing trips with Hank Parker and Jason Christie. Each prize also comes with loads of new gear and tackle.
  21. I caught them last weekend in 15-18 fow. Close to mainlake points but a few were on the flats. All just keepers, no big ones. Did pick a few up on cranks in the same depths.
  22. Been in there every trip I've made to stockton this year, nice people and great selection of about anything you need. Their Premium gas is ethanol free as well.
  23. Walleye have been biting really good for me lately, I start at daylight and work a slow death deathrig in 8-10 feet of water, if it stays cloudy we never have to go deeper, if the sun satrts shining we slowly work out to 15-18 feet. They still seem to be on the poiints but have been catching a few moving to the flats. Trolled a few flicker shads sunday and caught lots of shorts with a couple of keepers. The bigger ones seem to like the slow death rig best, have only caught 3 shorts on the rig in 8 trips this year. Brought my limit home every trip. Catching a lot of nice bass on the slow death rig as well, only problem right now is the drum, i probably catch 5 drum to every one walleye.
  24. Its basically a crawler harness with a single "slow death" hook on it. The slow death hook has a funny bend in it to make the night crawler corkscrew in the water. I dont run blades or beads on my slow death rigs, i put it on about 18 inches of 12 lb fluorocarbon attached straight to the bottom bouncer. Can't get the pic to post, just google slow death rig or hook
  25. Started out around ruark at 8 am looking for walleye and didn't have to look long. Worked the slow death rig in 10-12 fow on the first main lake point I found that didn't have a boat already on it. Caught 9 keepers by 9:30. Kept the first four for dinner but they were biting so well I had to keep going for a little while. Switched over to a redfin up shallow in less than 5 fow, keeping right up against the brush and it was game on for the bass. Left at 12:30 with my limit of walleye and sore thumbs. Caught probably 25 bass including the big one in the pic. They were just crushing the redfin today with the cloud cover.
