  1. I remember Arkansas against Ole Miss with Eli Manning loosing at that time the longest overtime game to Arkansas whos quaterback was also very good but after a few years in the NFL like so many of Houston Nutts really good players ended up singing Cocaine Blues. It was sad, but they gave him way to many breaks and I thought if they had cracked down on him early he might have straightend himself out.
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. I was afraid I was going to have to get into a cussin' out scuffle on the internet. Been kinda out of practice since I retired from truck drivin' and hung up my C B radio in 1997.
  3. Hey, what does LMFAO mean?Is them fighting letters and does Cricket resemble them?
  4. As a non hunter I'd like to put in my 2 cents worth here. I quit hunting 50 years ago because one hunting season I went to hunt rabbits and the woods had turned into a subdivision! Thank goodness there was fishing. I can't understand why the MDC can't more for duck hunting. They certainly seem to have funds for Peck Ranch Elk Zoo and the River Otter experiment that now they admit on their own website was a mistake. If you don't have a place to hunt or it cost too much to travel to the limited areas how are you going to take kid duck hunting? As a sidenote I lived in Arkansas during the Elk hunting fiasco down there and we were told that eventuly the herd would be managed by hunting, yeah right, how many people who are not connected ever get a permit to hunt them? I'm 70 years old but I do plan to apply for an Elk permit some day but I know that I'm not connected enough to get one.
  5. You would have fit right in Munich in 1935.
  6. If You start singing The Lumberjack Song were going to get a big RedX from Mr Phil........
  7. If these jobs and benefits are so great why don't you fellas get them and then we would have much more productive government employees?
  8. Don't feel bad, I just started with my anual go through all that fishing junk and get rid of what you don't use anymore and I have allready found a number of 'when the heck did I buy this' lures. So I am swearing off buying any new lures, oh wait a drop shot hook that is hooked up with a swivel system, wait that's not really a lure and they only cost $4.00 a packsge and I'll only need 2 or 3 pkgs of each of the six different sizes and wow those are some great looking hand poured drop shot worms here and whats that over there........
  9. Because Bass Fishermen are not Gay.........
  10. This is going to be a lot of fun......and I just saw on the local news that MODOT wants to turn I70 into a toll road.
  11. Thats the first time I've ever heard of catching two different species on a lure. I know Norman makes great lures but thats a first. You need to do a painting....
  12. You just had to bring up them *&^)(#$%@ river otters and the Peckerhead Elk Zoo. Didn't ya!
  13. I agree about 20 years ago I quit the Black River which I had fished for about 20 years. I remember going to Johnson Shut Inns and catching a lot of fish and not seeing anyone after I got out off sight downstream off the swiming hole. I also remember camping at Twin Rivers landing with my family and wade fishing both the river and the east fork and seeing very few canoes or people and those we saw were not the @%#@^&%$# that are on the rivers now. That was the reason we allways owned access property some where so we didn't have to put up with that crap. I really am glad that there are private outfitters and campgrounds in the area.
  14. Ditto here. For me it was 40 years. The crooked politicians who are protecting the meth cookers claiming that that fishing a stream that I have fished for the last 40 years is trespassing are going to destroy our God given outdoor heritage If they succeed they will turn our public waters into recreation for the swells only, like it is in the British Isles and was in the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany.
  15. Happy birthday MIC, hang on to that lady!
  16. I noticed youre Yogi quote, my favorite was when asked if he wanted his pizza cut into 4 or 8 pieces he said 4 he could not eat 8.
  17. I'm glad to see this and thanks for posting this, I'm 70 years old and remember the Mississippi River covered with a coating of oil in downtown St Louis and no fish. It's gotten better. Its not there yet but some day you may see it as good as the three rivers in Pittsburg and the Ohio in Cincinati and Evansville. I remember when Lake Erie was declared so polluted it was almost void of life form and then years later two of my fishing club members told me how it had turned around and it became maybe the best waleye water there is anywhere. Trolling through schools of walleye more than a mile long. We never thought that any of this was possible.
  18. I had a Coleman Crawdad that I used on strip mines and farm ponds and floated the Saline river in cenral Arkansas. If you could find one of those those that would be my choice, if I could find one of those I would buy it to use on Lake Springfield and the James River. The RamX hull material was great for getting through riffles where aluminum jon boats would get stuck if there was any water I would pretty slide on over. I used a 50 lb thrust trolling motor and that would get me upstream pretty easy. The dumbest thing I did was to sell it when I moved up here, it would have been perfect for the James River.
  19. Started driving to Cedar Lake above Vermillion Bay Ontario in '82 took 24 hours mostly two lane roads last trip in '99 mostly 4 lanes at least to Duluth about 20 hours. Each year the trip seemed longer as I got older and better roads = more boats on the lake! I guess if I could go back to two lane roads and less boats, I would still be going or at least want to go. When I owned a piece of land on the Big Piney River I would drive 3 hours each way to fish for 4 hours on Saturday evenings until I sold it in the mid '90s I was still able to fish and maintain my camp site until I got sick recovered retired and left the state. If you got a place you really love to fish do it whenever you can because in 20 or 30 years it will have been ruined all for money. My only regret is that I didn't start going up north 20 years earlier.
  20. Yep, she calls it the luck of Jan. We booked next week in August so I figure everyone who was hoping for a front coming through should thank Jan for the weather change. Last May we had a great day of fishing flooded Sycamores and the next evening the luck of Jan moved in and by Thursday I just pulled the boat out and enjoyed the music until we went home.
  21. Next Tuesday I'm Taking my bride to Indian Point on our annual fall fishing trip. Guarenteed Stormy, cold freezing weather high winds whitecaps hail lightening.
  22. Thanks Gavin, keep up the good fight. I remember first camping on the Jack Fork at Alley Springs State Park in 1957 on my 16th birthday. Clean air, water and no trash. Then it became a federal riverway and it has become a federal cesspool in the ensuing years and I stopped taking my family there in the middle 70s. It was really sad to see the destruction of a really great watershed. It just amazes me that people who earn a living from the outdoors are the ones who condon the destruction of the outdoors. Actually my nephew interned on the current about 10 years ago measuring the water quality at the legal horse areas so I know they were aware of that problem back then. Nothing was ever done On the subject of drunks, at some point in the 90s Ontario banned alcohol in boats. There was a lot of grumbling but they didn't seem to lose any buisness. You still have long lines at International Falls waiting to cross the border at least in 1999. The last time I went to Ontario. I don't know if that law is still in effect or not.
  23. In the words of John Gillespe, Gigantious Slobersorus Rex times 2! Double wow.
  24. So then guys like Galileo, Pastuer, Fleming, Salk, etc should have just issued their papers and shut up! But don't walk too far are you will fall off the edge of the earth and the universe revolves around the earth, and washing hands between surgeries was an insult to surgeons because everyone new that illness was punishment for sin and polio vacine was a communist plot to take over the minds of our childen. Everyone of those scientist had to fight the estalished government church approved science.
  25. I never have understood why people pursuing fish and wildlife are required to follow a whole book of rules and regulations to maintain a cuality product and if we violate those rules we are suject fines and or jail time. I think that is proper and support that. But than we allow under "for a profit" the destruction of those resources. An example of which is oneshots recent post about the destruction of his spot on the Niangua river. Going back farther the problems of the destruction of the Black River by unregulatd use of ATVs in the streambed. How many generations of fish were destroyed so that an ATV dealer could make a profit. Until we decide to take a stand were going to continue to get stabbed in the back by the elected officials who won't enforce the law.
