  1. YUM! We have them behind our blind. Had a couple for a post breakfast snack this morning.
  2. Is that a persimmon in the upper left?
  3. It was a soggy morning but we had more birds working. Woodies and Mallards. Best part was my nephew dropping a drake on a single shot at 25 yds in front on the blind. Back at it in the morning. @luckycraft Agree! been feeling like stale late season birds. Weather got them stirred up a little today. High hopes for tomorrow, the wind is in our favor. @Gavingood luck on tomorrow's hunt!

    What's Cooking?

Bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning.
  5. Killed a pot of coffee. Dead still morning. A little activity after the sun burned off the fog but, not much. Turkey's sure were vocal getting down from roost, though.
  6. So far, best one this season.
  7. Who shot the coot? Could have at least tried to hide it!
  8. I saw they had problems with the new pump house construction and repairs on the old one FG. Said pumping would be "greatly delayed" on the west side units. @Old dog 417 old info from mdc (10/16) "Draw Units 1andUnit1 – river too low to pump and lake low; limited positions likely Draw Unit 2 – Normal still able to pump; may be lower than normal at start Open Units 3 and 4 – Dry. Dependent on river rise"
  9. Is the new book a new edition of Bill Pflieger's, "Fishes of Missouri"? Or a new book entirely?
  10. Sweet! Got to see a bald snag a fish out of the water about 50 yards out from our dock last Friday. I never get tired of seeing stuff like that.
  11. Made a new speader for the jerk line yesterday...

    Cast iron

I picked up a new size 8 lodge skillet the other day for a song. For the price I figured it would work great as a dedicated camp skillet. I compared it to an older lodge I have and it is over 5 oz. lighter. @BilletHead I'm curious, what do some of your early size 8s weigh?

  16. Nothing like having a fish spin your 17' boat around like it was a kayak.
  17. So true! Why's it's always so much fun to find them in a river and why fall is my favorite time to chase them.
  18. Once again, nice work! What a great two days! I've been too caught up in getting ready for ducks to get out to chase them. Get out there and get back on em!
  19. Nice work, Scott!! Congrats on a great fish! @snagged in outlet 3I still haven't broken 20" in mo yet either. Plenty of 19s, just can't seem to get that tail to clear the 20 mark.

    What's Cooking?

We went out to eat at a local steak house last week. My wife had a filet and I had a strip. While ours steaks were well prepared, neither cuts were up to par on what I expect. We haven't been out to eat much since March. Has the quality suffered due to supply?

    What's Cooking?

Got some duck chili on the stove for tonight's dinner. Still had a few breasts in the freezer from last season. Going to bake some corn bread to go with it for my wife. Two of her favorites!
  25. I hunt the big ones but have a few spots on smaller waters I try to hit when conditions are right.
