He should have called MDC and they could have tranquilized the cat and relocated it. There was no need to kill it. And don't farmers have insurance anyway? What happens if a tornado comes through and wipes out an entire herd? You can't kill a tornado with a .22.

So, with sincere intentions of civility... Is a mountain lion a threat to human safety simply because it is a mountain lion, in which case they theoretically should all be shot upon sight? The article said nothing about livestock being killed or attacked, just that the mountain lion was on a man's property that had grazing cattle. Still sounds unwarranted to me.

The pics are actually of three different streams we hit on an epic post-Xmas trip...but all three of them have trout, so you're right about that.

I didn't think they could, but I'm no biologist. The rows of stripes on it make it look like a meanmouth to me...I just didn't know they had Ks in CA, but evidently they do, so that would be my guess. Awesome fish.

Would it kill the river if you took a picture of it? You go on some pretty awesome hyped-up trips to not bring back a single shot. Or are they just Gierachesque fantasies? BTW, it takes all of 15 seconds to get out your camera and snap a shot. You have a much better chance of killing a fish with 7X tippet than you do with a camera, and we all know you use 7X tippet....at least when you're after 4 pound smallmouth.
