  1. I think your method is the only sure fire way to tell them apart except close to the spawn some males will let go of milt when you have caught them. I have talked to biologists who say they can't tell live ones apart with any degree of finality.
  2. Personally, I'd be heading up Long and Cricket Creeks.
  3. A third thing that can cause this type of wear is something beginning to go bad with that wheel bearing. I had that issue and it took a new bearing to fix it.
  4. I use 1/8 and 1/4 depending on how deep I want to fish them.
  5. Wayne have you tried the donkey rig down below the Truman dam? It might give you an edge with 2 side by side baits.
  6. You should have been there today. It was so windy you couldn't get a bait down on most banks. It was also very cold and nasty. I managed some whites but fished from just below the 76 bridge to below Cedar Creek and up in Beaver to the second bend. The wind was really howling just below Fish Trap Shoal down to the Hayward Slough.
  7. OK remind me to give you plenty of room next time I see you because you have to be one tough dude to be out there with the wind, rain, lightning, and cold. Be save and catch a bunch.
  8. It sure is a change but is it an improvement? Have you tried to pick anyone up along the rock? Their improvement at Beaver Creek is a black top very much smaller parking lot that is cramped and a turn around that is not long enough or wide enough to accomodate today's rigs. I wish they would consult a fisherman now and then before they make something like that, then maybe they could do it right the first time. While I am ranting, 6 more inches of water will cover the end of the courtesy dock. I'll get off my sopa box now.
  9. Nice pics Phil. I haven't been up that way in a very long time. When will there be babby eagles in the nest, April or May? I'd like to see them.
  10. I'll stick with the structure scan. I've never seen this definition on any 2 d sonar.
  11. If you have to go new and live anywhere near a Bass Pro Shop you can apply for a Bass Pro credit card and get 10% off your first purchase up to $1500. That is what I did on my first hds unit.
  12. Another place that might have a used one would be www.bassresource.com.
  13. Yep it sure was tough. They either mover on up the creek or dropped back out. We need some running water to get them on the move on a more consistant basis.
  14. You might find something on www.Bassboatcentral.com in the forsale section.

    White Bass?

See my post 7 or 8 posts up. You really need to get you a map of that lake.
  16. So how much rain came that way and is the water murky?
  17. Not the cold weather but the cold front will along with the high pressure following it.
  18. I saw a scout about 3 weeks ago so I put mine up and am patiently waiting for them to come.
  19. I'm assuming that you are getting a Gen 2. The best advice I can give you is to read your manual at least twice and take it with you on the water. Did you get the lss 2 box and transducer to have side and down scan? If you are installing it on a fast boat, set your ping speed to 19 to help it lock on to the bottom better, be sure to select the proper transducer in the installation menu and set your fishing mode to fresh water. Most people use that navionics cards. You will also need to get an sd card for wpt file management and sonar logging.

    White Bass?

It would be the Little Sac. Don't try it if you don't know it, too many channel switchbacks, shallow spots and stumps. With your lack of familiarity with the lake and the low water conditions Cedar Ridge to High Point would be the safest for you. Get a map and see where that area is located. It is off Hwy 245 in Dade County.

    White Bass?

Depends on how well you know the waters. If you think you can safely go up the river then, I'd start looking at High Point and work up the river.
  22. I'd bet you can call and give them a credit card # and buy it over the phone.
  23. I thought that might be what you were talking about. I haven't been up above RR for at least 10 years but remembered a bunch of rocks.
  24. I'm not familiar with the rock pile. Is that some place near the Powersite Dam?
  25. Thanks Wayne. I'll pass that along to a couple of guys who plan to go Sunday or Monday. I did notice that the lake seems to be coming up a bit and is only 5' low now.
