  1. They keep changing the forcast for my area it goes from 6-12 inches back and forth. I guess we will just have to wait until Friday to find out for sure. I hope the lakes don't freeze over again.
  2. Very nice. A moment to remember for sure.
  3. I would steer clear of Eagle as most, if not all, can not be networked. I have heard good and bad about Low and Bird. I run low units and would like to be able to afford the new HDS10 with sturcture scan but I am a poor boy. There is a website that has lots of chatter about df/gps units. You might want to go there and do some reading. There is lots of info. It is bassboatscentral.
  4. In a campground the COE sometimes puts limits on launching. Other than that the ramps are public according to the COE. I saw the sign at Bridgeport north and called the COE to see if it were private. The ranger said, "They know better than that and are supposed to have already taken it down." I will continue to launch there but I will also make a donation into their box for upkeep.
  5. Are you going blind or prefishing some? If you don't know the water down there, get a map and look at some of the feeder creeks. If we keep getting wet stuff from the clouds, creek water could be warmer and a little more off color than that gin water down on that end.
  6. I'm sure the ice will be gone by the weekend. What part of the lake will you be fishing and what species will you be going after?
  7. I used to buy them in Forsyth but that was years ago. Here is a quote I found on the net that may give you some direction: "Well I asked on the tackleunderground site and a guy asked me what colors I was looking for and I said chart pepper and cotton candy (pink body with purple and green flake in it). He writes me back a day later asking for my address so he could send me some samples and they just came in, I'll post some pics tonight but these grubs are soft and look really good. Got the 1.25" size and they fit great on a 1/32 and 1/16 jig head."
  8. I do not presume to know what anyone else is thinking just the way I read it. To me it said there may be a big shad die off now and a good bite this spring. Maybe I too need some more feed back.
  9. Thanks for the info Marty. When do you think it will be safe to motor around the lake?
  10. That is great info. You don't know how much I appreciate it. If you won't take money, will you take baits? If so what type fishing do you do and what kinds of baits do you use?
  11. Here is one way.
  12. I just talked to the COE and all ramps are frozen in and most of the lake is frozen and snow covered.
  13. Hey rookiefisher thanks for the first hand info. I'll bet you could get some boat gas from some of us old boys for updates on the lake situation. I know I'd sure send you some gas money, baits and/or tips so I don't have the 100 mile trip for nothing. I'm most interested from State Park to the dam in both arms.
  14. Greenfield, Stockton, or Cane Hill? If so has the lake frozen over? Are any ramps open? I'm busting a gut and want to get down there.
  15. You should be able to take it to a local Mercury warranty shop like Sports Boats and get it fixed.
  16. How long of a period was your warranty on the motor? If it has expired then it sounds like you have an insurance claim.
  17. I have heard about the prices but am waiting for the boat show to see just how bad it is. I guess banks will have to move from 180 months to 240 with that kind of debt.

Marty Conrad in Hurley used to do it. Maybe he still does or knows someone.
  19. I thought they were only in BS and TR but I caught one on Stockton the other day. Have any of you guys caught one down there?
  20. The DNR told me that the marina ramp was icy but old State Park was clear. I was going today but the high so far has been 29°.
  21. I talked with the COE and DNR today about the ramps. Both groups said they were not clear yet and with more snow coming on Wed it may be a while before they do clear up.
  22. The $60 isn't not a factor for me. The factor is the gears. I don't have any of the new Curados because I like the 6-1 gears of the Citica vs the 5-1 and 7-1 of the Curados. If I were using a lot of baits where I wanted a fast retrieve I'd buy the Curado or if I did a lot of crankbait fishing.
  23. Unless it is a bull barrel the 22-250 will heat up after a few shots and have an effect on your long range accuracy.
  24. Does anyone know how the local roads are around the lake. Are any of the ramps clear of ice and snow? I'm really wanting to try out some new baits but don't want to wreck the car or boat on the way.
  25. How is the draw down on Beaver Lake going to play into this equation?
