A friend of mine had crappie on float and fly last week on TR. So they can't be over 10' deep where he fished.

I have used lots of brands over the years. The main thing I look for is the reserve amps 185-200. Keep the water over the plates and charge them within 24 hours of use an most deep cycles will run several years. I get rid of them after 3 or 4 years before they start to fail. By the hour of use most any maintained battery will be very cheap to operate if you fish much.

Microsoft data base is a very good way to keep stuff because you can sort it out with filters and find out a lot of info.

Where do the females hang out this time of the year. I have been catching good numbers but most all are males and I would like to boat a couple of gooduns before I move on to another species.

A good cheap 4# mono is Excell from BPS. It is as good as most anything I have tried in mono.

I was down there for a while Sat. in the James arm. Wound up catching 13 all were 25' deep right on the bottom. Jig/grub was the only thing I could get a hit on.

My primary jig head is a football. I use it mostly in brown but sometimes other color combinations. I use 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 oz depending on the depth of the fish and the amount of wind. They aren't necessarily any better than any other jig head. They just come through rocks a bit better than some others. If I am fishing timber I'd rather have an Arke jig.
