That run looks prime for a seine.
I kid. I would likely toss a Panther Martin, undressed, in 1/16oz and swim it with the current along those root wads.
No.
The rock bass, ozark bass and shadow bass are all members of the genus ambloplites, where the rock bass is a. rupestris, ozark bass is a. constellatus and shadow bass is a. ariommus. The warmouth is a member of the genus lepomis, with its classification being l. gulosus. The warmouth and ozark bass look completely different.
That's a good point Wayne. Our waters are loaded with bluegill and green sunfish, along with various darters and shiners up to 4" long. Maybe that striped shiner Pointer will be the ticket when I hit the water this weekend.
I have gone on a jerkbait buying spree lately and was curious what colors you like in the various water conditions we all fish.
Clear (5+ feet)
Stained (2-5 feet)
Murky (0-2 feet
I bought 3 of each Megabass X-80 TD and LC Pointer 78SP . I also found two Xcalibur XEE4 in holo shad and one Rogue in some chromey black shad color.
The MB are in French Pearl OB, Megabass Sexy Shad and GP Pro Blue II
The LC are Striped Shiner, Chartreuse Shad and Aurora Black
Let's discuss colors and tackle. What do you fish from and what tackle do you throw these on? Do you fish them all year or are they just a cold water bait?
Go.
I was stirring the pot because I do know it happens, but have no idea how much, and because I have a bad case of cabin fever...well done fellas, great fish.
I think anyone who insinuates that the giggers try to gig every big bass in the river is a sensationalist. Are there bad seeds, yes, but do they gig every big fish? No, there are good giggers in the state. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but on the scale which it is presented here, not even close.
When you guys get on a pond from some sort of paddle craft, what tackle do you use for bass? Rod length, power, reel, line, lures, etc. I am curious if everyone has the same approach or if there is a great variance,
I carried my Disco 133k home in my S10 with gate down and didn't have a problem. That will haul two folks around sufficiently. If you will, what boat is it?
I bought a used Old Town Discovery 133k with paddles and 2 new life vests for a killer price. I am going to redo the seats and put the right length yoke in.
The Wakarusa there isn't enough water to hardly float a boat. I can wade it, Mill, and a few others in the area, but floating would have to be limited to the larger streams, Blue, Kaw, etc...Do you know what they target on the Kaw?
Kansas is wonderful? Do you fish rivers at all? Not in Kansas you don't. The access laws suck, management isn't great and our licenses are about 65% more per year than Missouri with less available water. I don't mind our small lakes, they fish well, but I want river access.
