You can fish the Blakley and Carpenter Dams for one. In the Spring, walleye come up to Blakley dam, you might get stripers now. You can also travel to mount Ida and fish the Ouachita river.

Could very well be suspended sediment. But it's never been like this that I can remember. It sometimes has a slight gray color.

The state of the Meramec this year, with it's very low but not clear water, has made me think of some of the causes of an over abundance of algae. Maybe fertilizer run off from farms or something. I don't know that I've ever seen murkier water for being this low. Yep, I was backing out of a parking place at the mall the other day and before I could even get it back in drive (and I'm by no means slow at this process) some young P head zoomed between my front bumper and the line of parked cars. The little jerk was with his friends and couldn't wait 2 seconds. He probably missed me by less than a foot.

Colorado is beautiful no doubt. I recall the smell of pines that filled the entire countryside when I used to go there to archery hunt. -
I'm actually getting to the stage where I would rather stay in a hotel in close proximity to the river. But my kids need to experience camping a few times.
