  1. He does it all well! I sometimes feel like Salieri in the presence of Mozart! "Hello mediocrities everywhere!, I am your patron saint!"
  2. I caught one about that size on July 4th weekend with a crown watching. Some guy yelled "Go gettum Bill Dance!" As I was fighting it.
  3. I love the Silver Buddy and jigging spoons...don't forget the Little George!
  4. Nice fish! I love the look of the water!
  5. He also looks like he knows a thing or two about hair jigs!
  6. Totally agree with Al on the Johnboat. I even think for 2 experienced people on an upper section of the river it's a good choice with a trolling motor. I floated with Tommy Bench who is a guide on the upper Gasconade 2 weeks ago. He had a John boat with kind of gunnel slots on each side...I think it was a tracker brand boat, and he had a trolling motor in the rear. It was very comfortable to fish 2 people out of. You sat up a little higher, which I like, and could stand up and fish if you wanted. I had forgotten how great little john boats are.
  7. Geez, didn't mean to start anything
  8. None taken. If the fish gets shoved up too close to the camera, you cant see the person's face or surroundings, which adds to the whole package. I think Seth not only caught a monster but did a great job photographing the fish!
  9. as long as your sneaky about it! LOL
  10. I'm proud of you Seth!!!!!! That's a hog! And additional man points for not shoving the fish in front of the camera!!
  11. I wish I knew Paul Dallas better! He had Street Cred out the wazooooo, a legend mongst his peers. Always had a 3 day growth and smelled like Old Spice!
  12. Pure joy awaits! congratulations!
  13. I've always wanted a couple of extra feet of depth on the Wart, this one may accomplish that.
  14. You started me thinking again of something that happened to me 2 weeks ago.... I was taking a trip to Taneycomo with my buddy and fellow OAF member (who rarely posts)to try to catch some bigger bass. I proposed this trip to him about 4 months ago and we had just started driving down from STL. We had gotten down just past Lebanon and he received a phone call from his wife. I could tell by the tone of the conversation, it was not going to be good. His wife informed him that his father had just died of a heart attack. We turned around at the next exit and started back home. Having just lost my father 1 1/2 years ago, we were kind of in the same situation. We both agreed that parents of the world war 2 gen were great parents but were definitely different than the parents of today. We both agreed that our parents without a doubt taught us right from wrong very well. We also both agreed that aside from the right and wrong teaching, we never received much guidance. I remember my father and mother sitting me down when I was a senior in high school (1979), and telling me if I wanted to go to college, they would pay for it. But the conversation pretty much stopped there. Neither of them went to college and had no idea how to even direct me to something other than a skilled trade. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not faulting them...it's all they knew. As boys, my brother and I were pretty much on our own. But my buddy and I agreed that this might indeed be the greatest way of teaching a child: Let them experience things on their own. We made mistakes and learned from them and survived to tell the tale. I think this might be one of the biggest things missing in todays children. I'm trying so hard to raise my 2 young girls so they don't think they are the center of the universe, but boy it can sometimes be extremely difficult. I'm also trying to give them a wee bit more guidance than my parents gave me. Gosh, parenting is tough!

    Skunk Removal

I think it was GreasyB who told me that a coon would dig thru piles of old meat and bones in the trash just to get to an ear of corn.

I hope you were joking?? Maybe not
  17. The internet creates a permanent record of everything. Search engines are so powerful they scare me... these streams are far too precious to announce on the internet which stream has good numbers of fish.
  18. Not recently, but I know when the bite gets tough in the summer at TR it seems the spoons take over, I learned this from a couple of good guides. They really use their electronics to find the big balls of shad
  19. Spoons
  20. My favorite stretches are constantly declining, year after year. I don't need anything to speed up the process.
  21. I also love Northern Pike, in Canada you can't taste the difference between them and Walleye
  22. Great story Scott...I understand completely
  23. 3 times for me that I know for sure
  24. Do your homework and you will figure it out.
  25. Promise no Chinese this time...... But my vote is a 1.5 lb walleye
