Chief, I think most people can look at the first photo you posted and say beyond a reasonable doubt that it's a hybrid.

It was between 21 and 22" my friend Dan caught it about 10 years ago. I've posted a pic on here before. I'll see if I can find it and repost. I should have said caught in a Missouri Stream!

The biggest smallmouth I've ever seen caught in Missouri was on a 4" brown Chomper DT hula grub full garlic scent on a warm November day on the Gasconade. I disagree on the scents though, I believe they help by causing the fish to hang on a little longer than usual and possibly cause a fish that is trailing after a bait in a lazy way to go ahead and commit. as far as the Chomper stand up heads, those are the worst hanging up jig heads ever.

Well, last year I bought a couple of casting rods designed to throw light jigs, but a spinning rod is a great choice.

If 5/16 oz is falling too slow I'm guessing you have too much buck tail tied on. I make my own 1/8 oz football heads with a twin wire weed guard. I use Arctic fox hair or raccoon.

Are you talking about the impeller bearing? Shouldn't be an issue if you run some new grease thru, heck I even start mine up in the garage and let it run a few seconds. Good luck you guys! Want to hear who gets big fish award!!

Here's an 18" hybrid I caught a few years ago on the lower Meramec

I think all the jig companies powder coat the same way, the only thing that could make a difference on the toughness is whether they bake on the paint in the oven after the initial application, the oven will make the coating many times tougher IMO. The reason I know this is because if you don't remove the paint from the eye before the oven bake, its very hard to remove it afterwards.

Most of the rookie duck hunters I've seen have duck reservation mentality and try to take a 50 yard pass shot because they are afraid of another group of hunters calling the ducks away. If they would just learn how to call and have a little patience to wait till they drop their landing gear, they wouldn't cripple so many birds in the first place.

I will not do everything possible to get cripples, I once did but soon figured out Eagles and coyotes have to eat too. I will make a "good" attempt but that's about it. A good story about retrieving a cripple: My brother went out of the blind once to go after a cripple, when he was on the way back to the blind we saw him drop to his knees and start calling, there was a group of about 30 or so mallards that came from behind and started circling our blind. They all came right in except one very smart drake who stayed about 30-40 yards back...he'd been shot at a few times and was very cautious. We all shot and killed 5 or 6, but the smart duck was out of our range but flew right over my brother and my brother nailed him. That duck had a band and was 13 years old according to the records!!

Since my wife is Chinese, there are few Chinese restaurants I'm "allowed" to take her to, and you can bet it's not a buffet. We also have the luxury of ordering off the menu in Chinese, which is usually a completely different menu and much better food. If you notice, the restaurant workers and owners don't eat what they are serving! In St. Louis, we have several Chinese food markets where we can get all kinds on stuff that you cant find at Dierbergs or Schnucks....Like live large mouth Bass!

I can understand why Bo needs to carry a file, Because his jigs are extremely hard to snag and you can fish with one jig all day long and never get hung up!

When you say the "entire glass is magnified" that sounds different from prescription glasses. Don't know how you could see 10 ft away. Unless your talking about half glasses. Anyway, I had LASIK a couple of years ago so like Greasy, I'm not buying any expensive polarized glasses anymore. The Strike King Optics II are very good for under $40
