All the bass fishermen ask, is to be treated on the same level as the trout guys, who have managed to get gigging banned in certain management areas. Again, (for the 10th time) we are not trying to ban gigging. Saying they are the adults and we are children reminds me of most government agencies, who operate like HAL 9000 with their "superior intellect" and have taken control. I actually think of them as the paid servants that they are. Most of the long belters I've seen at MDC meetings talk a good game. But the results take so long with so much red tape that we all feel like it's just talk. It's no wonder a Bully CEO type like Donal J Trump is so popular, people are so freaking tired of the status quo.... which is not working, and it needs to change.

If a guy comes on a fishing forum and claims he's more of a conservationist than a catch and release guy, and then kills the fish and removes them from from the breeding stock, he is not dealing in reality. It looks like hunting and fishing will be banned in the future, based on the way these young people are talking. Free speech is already gone in our Universities. Blocking anyone with a different point of view. Fishermen will be labeled as cruel and inhuman people.

My take on lampreys in the winter is that when you catch a fish with a lamprey, it's in a school. I believe that's why the lampreys attacked them because they are all bunched up.

Starting to sound like PETA, no one I know tortures fish mercilessly. We might take a pic or two before we throw it back. But it's still more humane than killing it.

If you really want to get technical about it, consider what you're trying to imitate. I'm a believer in different types of hair, or feathers, in the same jig. If you consider a craw, some parts move and some don't. So use Bucktail for the non movable parts, and marabou, rabbit, fox for the moveable parts. I always go sparser rather than fuller on all my hair jigs. Believe it or not, most of the time I just get lazy and tie arctic fox only.

Hang on, let me explain further, it's the Bell peppers that I don't fancy, not the japelenos or spicy peppers, they're pretty much all good.

Any peppers are soon followed by a bottle of Mylanta

There are definitely gigging hotspots on certain rivers. Don't ever kid yourself, There are folks on this forum who know the culprits that do most of the damage. There IS a fear of retribution. I don't blame them for not calling them out, it's darn near "Winter's Bone" we're dealing with.
