  1. We want to see them!! Congrats! My little girl was 7-11 as well
  2. She said he had a crazed look in his eyes. Wonder if he was hiding a meth cooker?
  3. We ate them (pike) along with the walleye at shore lunch for 10 years in Minaki, ON on the Winnipeg river chain lakes. Other than the size you couldn't tell them from the walleye.....just as good
  4. So judging by the picture, the sand bar looks like its in the channel of the river, not so much on the owners property. Unless This is an old photo. I can't wait to hear the results.
  5. I heard that it was a family on a sand bar and an argument broke out about the sand bar being part of the river or not..... Shot him in front of his family. All gossip at this point though
  6. Might be a good time to clear this up... Are there 4 types of carp in Mo? 1. Regular golden colored carp? 2. Grass Carp (Amiur)? 3. Asian Silver carp 4. Asian big head carp
  7. We don't know the full story yet, although I admit my first reaction is to blame the shooter. Unless some dude was throwing lethal size rocks at my wife or child, I would have just ran away and followed him down the river to the takeout and had the cops waiting for him.
  8. I did a bunch of duck hunting in the 90's too and we always shot more ducks on Blue bird/windier days than what people would consider traditional duck weather days. If we could set up with the sun and wind at our back we were at a huge advantage. The ducks would be circling and blinded in one eye. I suppose the same theory works with a brush pile or lay down. I think the wind kicking up and putting a little chop on the water helps too. Though too much wind might make you be forced to use a top water bait with a louder rattle or splashier presentation.
  9. It would be hard to make a case you were in fear for your life and be able to pull off a head shot with a pistol
  10. No kidding, what an idiot. Something tells me the shooter will be in jail soon.
  11. I caught a 6 pound regular carp on a wiggle wart a couple of years ago. but... here is what an Asian carp looks like, my father in law caught it at Chain of Rocks this Spring
  12. I met a kid and his father a few years ago as I was doing a demonstration on a high density laser scanner. The kid was brilliant and had just received a full ride scholarship to MIT. He (the kid) was taking a average priced Humminbird fish finder with GPS and grabbing the output signal and turning it into a 3D plot of the bottom of the lake. The purpose was to review the bottom density composition for the purpose of silt removal by dredging. He was fully aware that fisherman would love to have a 3d plot of the bottom of the lake. I took his data file and loaded it into my PC and was able to rotate it around and zoom in on brush piles from all angles. He was basically stitching the 2D sketches and extruding them into 3D by way of a GPS. He could ramp up the frequency for more detail. He was able to completely map the area of a lake at the rate of about 40 acres in 20 minutes.
  13. Is that because your hauling arse for the boat ramp?
  14. Guidelines for making up after a fight...by Stuart Smalley 1. Stay there, don't run out and go silent 2. Use the "Time Out" approach 3.Try to send at least one signal that your love is stronger than your pain. 4.Be realistic about the "Facts" your fighting about. 5. Balance reality 6. Make amends rather than defends 7. Avoid saying "Sorry" until after you've made up 8.Identify the making up process clearly.
  15. I once listened to Charlie Campbell at a smallmouth alliance event several years ago. He talked about ways to use the sunlight to your advantage while approaching a brush pile. I also know it makes sense to use the element of surprise to your advantage to get more strikes. Also your profile brightly lit can be seen by a fish from a great distance...like sitting in a movie theatre looking at the screen (maybe a lame example I know ).
  16. I completely agree with you F&F, but there are some inner city kids who don't have a chance at the upbringing you and I had. With 80% of black mothers being unwed, they simply are screwed from day one. No role models to teach them. They grow up listening to stupid rap songs about killing cops and thug life, a mother that's a crack addict. They simply have virtually no chance. What to do about the problem? I just don't know.
  17. He's sorry that he hasn't pummeled any retired government employees yet today......LOL
  18. First of all, no one that I have read on this thread is assembling a lynch mob, we are merely discussing the situation. Second, how do you know what the motives of the students are? I've seen these situation turn out bad as well, just talk to Christine Smetzers parents.
  19. It wasn't the decision of the students Joe, but Tyrone McNichols, I understand the kids have to go somewhere! http://m.stltoday.com/STL/db_259737/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=qFcmIGTf
  20. Wow, heated debate in town over Normandy school district that lost their accreditation is now bussing kids 45 minutes to Francois Howell school district in St Charles. My friend attended a very long tension filled town hall style meeting where several people where escorted out by the police. The Normandy school district had metal detectors at all schools but obviously they don't have enough time to install them at FH schools. It cost the Normandy school district 12K per child per year to send them westward. The average scores at the Normandy schools for math were 20-30% where the average scores at FH were 90. Obviously it helps the Normany kids but what happens to the FH kids?
  21. I don't think you should stop at 11, sometimes that's when the best fishing starts.

I like the Cavitron........ Squeaks right out of the box and runs true. Also runs at a very slow speed and makes a nice bubble trail. The only down side is a Roland Martin endorsement!
  24. One of the things that annoy me about many Ozark streams are the cabins that some people actually live in. You would think that a person would have higher standards than that. I guess it's just how you were raised. I would love to live on a nice river but I'm trying to decide the best way to do it and be happy. Like I said on a different thread, a lake would be more practical to live on if you wanted to be close to the water. Someone help me
  25. That river provides much enjoyment for me! In 1 hour I can be at the ramp. Some big smallies at the rate of about 1 per mile
