  1. If your in a power boat and are unfamiliar with the river be very careful, there are lots of places you just cannot go without a jet, and even some you cant go with a jet. If you launch at buffalo city forget going up the shoals.
  2. This probably doesn't help you but I did good on triple olive zigjigs today around norfork
  3. I have been doing a little trout fishing. I need to go out on NFoW with you one day. fishing hasn't been as good as I would like lately below norfork dam. I did catch a 18" brown this morning.
  4. I personally dont believe the hail storm theory, seems bogus.
  5. I won't lie, I really like my lucky craft live pointer, I have caught lots of nice fish on it too. I have become a bit of a brand whore with some stuff lately....the wife doesnt like it.
  6. a few years ago my brother tried to convince me that jets were poisoning us with the plumes of steam behind the airplane....I explained to him what it was and called him a moron.
  7. I am contemplating floating CC tomorrow on the kayak(with waders!) and I am wondering if it would be a waste of time. The water should have some color with this rain we had, and I havent been bass fishing in too long. I was thinking of taking 3 rods. Jig on one rod, either a tube or a grub on another, and a suspending jerkbait on the 3rd.
  8. I agree, maybe if the boat had a coat of gluv-it or steelflex epoxy on the hull. the 3" draft is likely while on plane.
  9. I run 10b p-line with a 7' wright and mcgill fiberglass crankbait rod with crankbaits. I have never ran the "old school" wiggle warts, but the new ones from wal-mart work good for me. I caught quite a few largemouth's and smallies on the #059. That same $4.16 crankbait caught me 30+ fish over three trips, including two 18" smallies and a 5lb largemouth on the white.
  10. I am gonna order some hard swimbaits this week from tacklewarehouse.
  11. Nice, how big is that dude? We may go to Bass Pro tomorrow and get some stuff to try.
  12. Earlier this week I went fishing on the norfork river where they had just released a truckload of 6 inch trout. I got to thinking that a big swimbait would bring in big trout. I have never seen anyone fishing one so it may work.
  13. the planet will survive, there is no doubt. Here is my biggest problem, in a 30 year span the scientific consensus has gone from cooling, to warming, to just saying that its changing. Its the same with eggs, when I was a kid they were bad for you, then they were good, then they were bad, and I think they are good again.
  14. I intend to be cremated as does my wife. The costs involved with burying bodies is ridiculous.
  15. Your incredibly lucky. If that happens to my TDI the motor is ruined.
  16. I have 5 of the BPS johnny morris reels in all three speeds and I love them. I found a pair of the gold series reels for $200, gonna get them in january.
  17. you sure cant. a coworker got a dwi last weekend 2 miles from the house on a dead end road down by the lake. We had the inlaws christmas last weekend, tomorrow we will be at my mothers house and sunday we are leaving for Texas to see the rest of the family, boat and atvs in tow.
  18. Sunday the wife and I are leaving for the Texas gulf coast to do some redfishing. We are fishing around the mouth of the san bernard river, the weather is going to be nice and the fishing should be good. Here is a pic of last years catch: the wife caught the top one on the first cast the second day.
  19. I am going to focus more on finesse fishing during the winter and try some different methods for catching big smallies.
  20. I had my best luck throwing it in pockets.
  21. lampreys freak me out. they look downright evil. FWIW, I had a leech on me when getting out of the river at dawt mill last year once on NFoW
  22. I agree 100%. I recently spent $550 on a Snap-On cordless impact wrench(I am a atv mechanic by trade). Lots of people said that I spent WAY too much money on it. However the other mechanic has had his impact for over 4 years and uses his impact every single day and it works. So as far as I am concerned its well worth the money.
  23. I picked the first one.
  24. Have you quit smoking by chance? I figure people who really care about the environment wouldn't smoke either. Fwiw we have enough oil to supply ourselves. Government interference has crushed much of the oil industry in america.
  25. It may be old but I would hate for people on the forum to forget the kind of person you are.
