Got this beauty a couple weeks ago. Thought I would share with all you Smallmouth junkies.
Caught it in a shallow slow run on my way upstream. Got to see the whole thing and man did she smack my bait.
Good fishin' to you all!
Anyone fish the smaller streams in the winter like Huzzah, Courtois, Mineral Fork? I have heard some folks say these streams don't hold much in the colder months. Just curious what some of you might think. Either way it will be nice to get in the water. Thanks in advance!
Good to hear! I know the Huzzah gets a lot of pressure and I normally do very well like you guys are saying so I must have just hit it on a few off days. That's fishin' for ya. Nice lookin' fish smalliebigs!
Thank you all for the response. Sometimes it is hard to be such a fishing fanatic. Especially in the summer when it is all I can think about. Most of my friends don't understand. I drive my wife crazy with thinking out loud about trying new lures or planning my next trip. It is nice to know I can come here and you all understand! LOL!
Thank you smallmouth fishing junkies!
Wading trip this past Tuesday resulted in 4 big smallies! The biggest just at the 20" mark! I thought I would share the photo with you all. What a fight this one gave me. Jumped 3x's and each time just about gave me a heart attack thinking that I would see it hit the water and swim away leaving me devastated of course. So happy I was able to land it! The photo does not do it justice at all as I have a caveman style flip phone and was in a complete panic to get the pic and get it back in the water. Enjoy!
I thought what better place to get some help with my reel problem. I have a Johnny Morris JCL2500 and have been super happy up until now. It has been a good reel at a price I can afford but recently it seems to be hard to reel. It comes and goes but I will be reeling in a lure and then it will get stiff and hard to turn. It seems to be getting worse and happening more often. I have looked at the gears and seems to be clean with plenty of grease. Any ideas on what might be happening and how I can fix it?
I have heard a lot about fishing hair jigs in winter. I am hoping to get out at some point this winter for some wading trips and was hoping to get a little advice on how to fish hair jigs? Any pointers on gear, size jigs, presentation, etc.... would be appreciated. Good fishing to all!
Planning a over night float on the Big Piney. Any ideas for river sections that are good for floating/wading. Also any suggestions on outfitters that do over night camping foats. Good fishin' to all.
Heading down with my wife to the Current River near VanBuren in early June. It will be my first time going. I was wondering if anybody had some tips for smallies? I won't have a boat or canoe and will only have a couple hours in the morning and evening to fish since as my wife was quick to point out this in NOT a fishing trip. Looking forward to the trip and getting away for a few days. Any tips on areas near VanBuren that are good for wading and techniques that the bass like on the Current would be great!! Thanks and good fishing!
I am looking to get my first pair of waders so I can go hit the steams in the colder months and cooler trout waters. I am on a budget and can afford 150.00 bucks. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions on brands? Also should I get sock waders and get boots or should I go for boot waders? Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks and good fishing!
